Has anyone noticed how often a horse is scratched on the same day it advises of "Tongue Tie On" ......

Why ?

It's not a bad guide to picking the odd winner as you could assume the horse might have choked down at it's previous run, esp when the nag in question is early in it's campaign.

"Blinkers on Again" is not too bad either, or "Blinkers First Time" when the horse is early in it's campaign.

But why are so many scratched re the tongue tie?

More angles than a circle ..... it has an infinite number of sides !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes they put rubber booted shoes on them to lessen the shock, this is usually done where a horse has been experiencing some soreness .

That's a possible sign of a horse to lay.
