Hi
Does anyone keep records of the fixed odds on Supertab at different intervals?
I only have the final odds and I seem to pick the wrong time to bet fixed odds most of the time, because by the time they jump the TAB prices, mostly for the place is way way better then the fixed one.
Good luck

Good luckDon't bother, it just happened again, a few minutes before the start race 4 at Launceston #2, Fixed odds were for win $13 and $3.3 for the place, the win divie being more than on the TAB, so I put the win portion on fixed and the place on the TAB.
What happens? Finished up on the TAB with $14.50!!!
Now that is an 11% difference, more than some winning punters work on.
Forget fixed odds, not enough times are they better then the TAB to make it worthwhile.

Thats pretty funny.
Heres the best way to pick the right time every time...
Its Betfair.
But I think you already know that.
Why anyone has anything to do with the TAB is beyond me & one is paying 18.5% impost for it.
Especially if using real money.
One would not do business with say a Supermarket that changed its prices at the check out, so why do it with the serious business of punting.
Their place divs are way better than any TAB & your price gets locked in.
Example
Launceston 4/2
Betfair paid 15.60/ 4.30 before com
TAB...........14.50/3.30
There is a place difference of 43% (Using fractional odds )

Depending on the runners you want betfair can often be shorter than the TAB i have seen this many times, then you have to factor in commission.
Overall betfair SP has the best prices by about 5% after commission, i personalty would only use TAB for exotics.

I have long suspected something fishy about the TAB fixed odds, with the opportunity to manipulate the market and arbitrage using BF rices and the like. I use them predominately to get a good indication of what a horses chance/actual price will be for the win or place and work from there.
The only time I actually bet with the TAB is if I see fixed odds on during the week for Saturday that I believe are overs. Even then it is rare.

Here is a perfect example why betfair is not always the best price.
Ballarat Race 7 winner paid BF $7.40 BFSP $7.40 Vic tote $8.30 NSW Tote $6.90 Qtab $8.00

For every one that you find like that , I could find 20 which favour Betfair.
Amyway, why do punters make bets where the prices dont get locked in.
One could be paid money back only for a 1.00 risk investment.
How come no one ever talks about the crazy obsenety .of money back when a certain horses win or place.
And people complain about 5% BF commission where TABs hit punters 18.5% inpost all the time.

Agree Bhagwan - there should be 2 guarantees when you place a bet, those being that the bet can either win or lose, but as we see this is not so on a regular basis.
Apparently it is just asking way too much from the Tab's to show an act of goodwill in these '$1.00' situations & drop their rake a fraction to ensure a positive divy.
