WOW!!
I sure as heck messed up Race 5 at Sandown,
A massive amount of work to do now to get back my losses after the CHEESE was rancid.
Hey Woof43.
Me and you got Race 6 exactly the same.
That must be a first after all these years.

Just checked what you found.
Apart from the Check , which is a Major difference , the rest of the race we have exactly the same.
Does judgement of our Powers of assessment hinge on how the Check performs today?

what is interesting is how you determined the 8 as no show , but #2 didn't score as well, so i'm assuming early speed is'nt the factor that made the difference

Well you also rated the Pink as a no show , so good Company there.
Its Wide Box stats are shocking.
I figure the animal from Box 1 is able to run up to its best , and its best was simply well in advance of the #2.
Box #5 was the tricky runner.
I penalized it for the poor Box , but it still rated highly.

the 5 had the best second sectionals once the two in front collided or shifted it was home, good result all round really, once they had the 8 in the market

Well I ended up toasted.
Couldn't get my wager on in Race 7 #5 due to poor and cheap and nasty Internet Equipment.
Not the First Time it has cost me , and won't be the last , unless I lash out and pay a little more for ADSL.
I'll be doing a bit of Web Surfing to find out how much more , and if it is my answer.
Missed the last Winner in a Photo as well , but can't use that as an excuse.
I have the Daily Double races to do for SALE and I'll be back later with My Markets should anyone be curious.

split your wagers moee, so you have money bet early.
Yes good advice.
But the thing is I don't choose to wager for win on an animal unless I am getting an Overlay.
And the Overlay was on the totalisator.
And I don't know that prior to 2 minutes or less before the Off.
And also , I am preparing to eventually base the size of my wagers on how much of an overlay is available.

thats why you need to know your past performance record, if you know your record for this type of dog is such an such % you know immediately the breakeven you can accept at time of wager or just compare to your own rating regardless of market.

Went a bit better today. Just trying to find what works for me.
I had these bets at Sandown
Gold Affair Two 1/2 (w/p)
Conciction 1/2
Dodge The Batton 1/2
Weetbix Kid 2/4
Fainting Fancies 1/2
Profit for the day on mid tote. Im mainly concentrating on the top 3 in Rave column & go from there. I need to work more on predicting early speed.

What happened here?
You had the winner of this Race a clear top selection in your Market and a HUGE Overlay :(

1 PHILDAVIAN $2.2
2 RUWI'S REVENGE $5.3
8 GANGBUSTERS $12
7 OMEGA JOSHUA $12
6 ABRASIVE MANNER $12
5 LOOKING MAGICAL $12
4 IRON BRIAN $30
Hopefully I have the willpower to not take exotics here.
The Correct wager is to back the top selection if an Overlay.
If not , the Quinella the top 2 selections is also an excellent idea , but a poor dividend is the worry.

I need to work more on predicting early speed.
If you can go to The Watchdog website , they have free formGuides you can download which include a graph of predicted early speed.
Perhaps they will be a massive help to you at this stage.

The last start win of the #7 was a highly unusual time, looked like they clocked the Hare.
If the #1 could lead it would be closer to evens in this, the two hard dogs to get lines thru 2 & 4

I think you are making exactly the same mistake I was making when I first started messing with Greyhounds.
When you do the ratings , the better performed animals appear at the top.
But you must learn how to differentiate between top rating Stayers and top rating Sprinters.
Like - When Stayers in horses roll up to prepare for their Spring Campaign in Sprint races , how do you stop them from being the top Raters in 1200 metre Races?
Whatever you do , you need to learn to do similar when Greyhounds are in the wrong distance race.
The example i notes yesterday was IRON BRIAN.
I also had it up top when the Computer spat out the ratings , but I adjusted it to out the gate because I was pretty sure the distance was way too short.

Yep, i hear ya.
At the moment the ratings are purely what the spreadsheet spits out, there is no analytical input. I consider them like base ratings only, I've got a ******** of a way to go before I start to analyse dogs & races.
I admit I do have a bit of a feel for horses, know when the top rated on numbers is a good lay, etc. Still I have enjoyed the last week, something completely different. I didn't even study the Sat races. Just backed by system bets & traded a no risk $300.
