Ratings

After reading much of the information on the forum and other sites, I am not a firm believer that the most 3 important factors in picking a winner comes down to

a. the class of the horse
b. the speed of the race and applying it to the horse
c. distance

I was wondering if any users combine these elements into a system

e.g. Class ratings with speed ratings - Distance.

How are your class ratings and speed ratings calculated etc.
From what I can see the only link with information about sectionals is daily sectionals.
