Hi guys (and gals?).

I've started a black book at the R&S site to possibly find a winner or loser and after some success last Saturday 19/5/12 I thought I would record my results here (until I start losing and then I won't post on this thread anymore).

Last Saturday I bet in 4 races with 2 horses picked in 2 of the races. So 6 horses were backed and ended up with 3 winning races for a profit of +16.95 units after commission on Betfair (betting $1 per horse). Winners were Playwright at $9.80, Eraset at $13 and Rock Hit at $1.48. I also backed them for a place except for Rock Hit winning +1.71 units.

I think it was total beginners luck as I've never been any good at picking winners with my only real forte being trading where it doesn't matter what wins or loses but I thought well why not start a thread about it so I can gloat when the winners come in or not post when they lose.

Two horses are racing today at Sandown:

Race 5 No 6 Permission - First off I'm not sure about this one as it came 4th last start at 1200m and to be honest I'm not sure if it was tiring or looking for more distance. I'll assume that the trainer knows what he's doing (after all it's Peter Moody with Luke Nolan aboard) and I'll back it each way.

Race 8 No 4 Kallogg - Came home nicely for 3rd in a 1600m event and I thought it may be looking for a longer trip but the trainer has entered it in a 1500m race. Oh well, I'll back it each way.

Outgoings - 4 units (for me a whole $4  - hey it's only early days).

Hahaha. That was funny. NOT!!!

Not a good start to my thread but don't forget I have no idea what I'm doing.

Race 5 No 6 Permission - I think she's still running. In hindsight (isn't that a wonderful thing) this wasn't a very good back bet as she was starting from out wide around a bend for a 1000m race. DOH!!! Maybe a good lay bet. I'll keep her in the stable and look for either a better barrier next time or a race down the Flemington straight.

Race 8 No 4 Kallogg - Came 4th but not sure how far behind the leader. Maybe he was looking for a longer distance however I just noticed he holds the track record for that distance.

Outgoing -4 units
Incoming Zilch

O/A Win +12.95 units
O/A Place -2.29 units

There are 7 nominations for Saturdays races so I'll have a look at those and post any selections just for the heck of it later in the week or Saturday.

Picks for today 26/5/12.

Out of the 7 nominations two have been scratched and I have also had second thoughts on three of the remaining runners. But, seeing as though the ones I have doubts about tend to go okay, I will include them for a half unit.

Caulfield
Race 7 No 4 Roses In The Glen - Back 1 Unit
Race 7 No 5 Club Command - Back 1/2 Unit
Race 7 No 3 Manhattan Maid - Very tempted to lay this one (ha ha) as she may not be suited to the going but I'll have a 1/2 unit back bet

Doomben
Race 5 No 5 Soros - Back 1 Unit
Race 5 No 7 Durnford - Back 1/2 Unit

Outgoings 3.5 Units
