Thanks for prompting the thought about a number of selections required to "confirm" whether a system is a goer or not. Shaun posted a link to a beaut thread.

I'm more confident than ever now, I did have reservations about the smallish number of selections.

Shane Dye once said about punters "If I was a betting person I'd only have one bet per year, and that would be the favourite in the Golden Slipper" ..... now that's not verbatim, and I'm not 100% sure that the race is correct ..... but it goes directly to the thoughts of a top jockey. 99.999% of members on here would laugh at that statement ..... but are we here to show a profit ot what?

I'll punt my two favourite systems in Melb and either Syd or Qld (depending where the better races are) and see how we go. Thanks again moeee for promoting a thought (I don't have too many ya know) about how many selections we need to have to confirm a system.

moeee, it was an interesting post by hermes wasn't it?

Plenty of selections for the base filter, then maybe it just doesn't matter too much about the volume of selections at the end, so long as it's not seriously backfitted.

btw, chauffers wages are nothing to quibble about ?!

I,m strictly a ratings man.

I post them as some like to play around with them.
Of course the System Sellers of most promise they,ll turn $300 betting 3 % into 200.000.

The punter of today is a bit more sophisticated than that.

Saying that however here,s another one .

After scratchings take the 1st 2 mentioned at the top of the poll in your fav newspaper.

Selection is the horse carrying the most weight before overweights and allowances.

Should both be carrying the same weight take the one with the most Win tips in the paper poll.If tied then the one with the most 2nd tips.If still tied take the one closest to top weight.1 preferred over 2 - 2 over 3

Stop betting when 1st winner .

Only operate on the 1st 7 races.???
