Before they were online i used to buy the wizard formguid, then they used to have them on a special computer in the TAB and they were great if you didn't have time to do the form or didn't know how to.
Not sure how they are now but might work just as well as our own ratings, i know they work in a similar way to mine using a consensus panel.

I've found them better then my own ratings, which I thought what a waste of time.
The wife is on my back about not spending enough time with the kids, so I'm looking again at a more simplied method.
Need to read up on a automatic approach long-term as currently I finding its very labour intense.
Forum has been a great help and other many moons of spot-systems and many $$$$ wasted, I think I'm back on the path to a profit.

Fridays are normally one of the worst betting days in regards to form so i will also take a look at these, yes i agree with the times that are needed to do your own ratings if you don't have it automated.
The one thing about comparing yours to theirs is at least you know what goes in to yours to get the results.

Thanks Shaun. Some slightly different 100 raters compared to Unitab (or TABonline as they're now called).

The top=4 in these panels are the best way to go i think.
Skyform.
Timeform.
Consensus panel
If using the Skyform try to stick to horses with a rating of 88>

Hi L.G.
I have several books published by this mob.
The 3 panels i mentioned have the highest strike rate in terms of,
Picking winners compared to the others.
This applies to the top=3 the books i have don't mention 4th picks.
The 4th picks in each panel are for 1st 4 betting only.
This is an innovation done by the tab to encourage 1st 4 betting.
If you go to the site of which i am a member all the selections,
Bar the consensus panel are for top=3 only the rating of 88> wins more races than their representation.
I mentioned this on Vortechs other post re the ratings,
If you wish to check.
Cheers.

I have noticed on their forum there are at least two other people who also post here.
One is under suspension at the moment maybe they can add things,
To help out with these ratings in the search for Shangri la.
Cheers.

Iwill start the ball rolling with one idea that will improve the strike rate.
Back the top rated in the skyform rating (100) if it is also the,
Top pick in the best overall panel.
This doesn't make a level stakes profit but with some thinking,
Outside of the square i am sure can.
For many years crosstabbing the top=2 in one panel with another,
Panel with various other filters i was able to grind out a small profit,
Each year.
I have since moved on to other things.
Enough from me, we need to hear from others with ideas,
I see to be clogging up everyones posts.
While i am here congratulations to moee on the quaddy legs,
At sandown last night.
Beter not harp on that have already been t.o.u.d.
Cheers.

A word of warning.
If you are using the best overall panel make sure you use,
The print 3rd option dfs etc as tghe horses on the original
Skyform ratings are often wrong especially after scratchings.
Just a couple of examples on the races i am betting on today
Sunshine-coast race=7 nos-4 has 8 consensus points should be 10
Grafton race=9 nos-3 has 14 points should be 15 points etc.
MANY TIMES THE ORDER WILL BE DIFFERENT POINTS ETC SO PLEASE CHECK THE DFS 3RD OPTION FOR THE CORRECT POINTS AND ORDER.
All the other panels will be correct.
Cheers.

Thought i would have a look at how the top=3 skyform ratings,
On the Vic-Tab website went today.
I will use my bettable races that i listed,
On a previous post somewhere.
I only bet on these races when "ALL HORSES TOP FLUCT=$3.0>"
I only bet in QLD SYD VICT.
Wiil list the races in order of how the races fell.
Div's will be metro best of 3 or starting price.
Country + Provincial best of 3 totes.
I do all my betting with Tom Waterhouse.
FLEM R-3(5-8-2) W=5 $3.70 = GOOD.
R/HILL R-3(11-2-6) W=6 $9.50= AVERAGE.
FLEM R-4(1-2-7) LOSE =AVERAGE.
R/HAMPTON R-3(7-1-6) W=6 $7.1=AVERAGE.
E/FARM R-4(6-5-1 LOSE =GOOD.
FLEM R-6(6-17-7) W=6 $5.9=GOOD.
R/HILL R-6(8-2-13) LOSE =GOOD.
E/FARM R-7 (6-17-8) LOSE=GOOD.
SWAN HILL R-6(6-3-5) W=3 $4.70 =AVERAGE.
R/HILL R-7(11-13-6) W=6 9.30=AVERAGE.
GLD COAST R-9(8-3-4) W=3 $1.80 WAS BACKED FROM 3.0-2.0=AVERAGE.
R/HAMPTON R-7(5-14-1)W=14 $22.70=AVERAGE.
FLEM R-8(1-7-8) LOSE =GOOD.
E/FARM R-8(2-3-4) W=3 $4.0.=GOOD.
R/HILL R-8(12-2-3) LOSE =AVERAGE.
My race types are on L.Gs post i think.
These are the races i bet on today though not these selections.
I did recommend top 3-4 skyform timeform or best overall as something,
I used for many years.
Remember this is just one days results using the right races to bet in,
A bit of value and a free set of selections you could do worse.
BE WARNED YOU WILL NEED TO PUT YOUR OWN FILTERS IN.
TO MAKE THIS WORK THIS IS ONLY A GUIDE.
It's not the be all end all.
The tips are still there for you to check as are my race types.
Up to you know.
Cheers.

Very important completely forgot i don't bet on any age related races,
No matter what the class is.
Which also gets rid of c=g=e races
Should have mentioned that on LGS post.
Apoligies if anyone has been betting on them.
Cheers.

Those of you who are a member of Dynamic the A.A.P.
Top-4 not equal 4th work an absolute treat on these races,
Using these rules.
I don't bet Toowoomba night as i can't get fixed odds.
Also i don't bet in Adelaide or Western Australia as they,
Dont run enough meetings there during the week as,
I split my data into state, country, metro, provincial tracks.
Doesn't mean you can't bet there though, just my preference,
A nd you sometimes struggle to get fixed odds on the W.A. non metro.
Cheers.

Oh! now I've gone & lost all me money.
I now have to hold you totally accountable for my shortfall Garyf.
Will that be cheque or cash?
LOL.

My ratings seem to have good success on WA races (I only rate Saturday metro meetings) and Adelaide don't go too bad either. 6/8 top rated winners today at Belmont and 3/6 top rated winners at Morphettville (although today was an extra-ordinary day, wish it was like that all the time!!).
I find it most difficult to rate Sydney metro races followed by Melbourne, probably due to the more varied form lines whereas WA tends to be more of a "closed circuit" form wise(for want of a better description).

The 50 cents is on it's way ""CASH""" for you Bhags.
Well done Mattio different methods work well in,
Some places but not the other.
Your method goes great in those two states stick to it.
With the amount of work involved and racing 7 days a week,
The meetings would be over before i finished i reckon.
Especially when a big part of my final selection process is,
Watching video replays a real pain and can't be automated.
Not suggesting these races won't work there this is just,
A guide with the ratings to maybe help those who are looking,
For a bit of a start.
The grading of the races however took years to master.
To each his own.
Since joining this forum i would love to learn how,
To lay horses for a living as well as backing but,
After reading those in the know Bhags Cp M.G. T.O A.P.
And others i know there is no way i would succeed like them.
Cheers.
