I haven't delved deep into form only going off what i have seen here I think Green Moon is the horse to beat he is tough as nails and a good solid tempo he will love. I amnot a big fan of the 3yo's personally their times have not been anything to brag about for as hard as the Gunieas was supposed to have been run they still couldn't crack 1.36 for the mile which is pretty ordinary.
Ocean Park is in great form I do question him a little if this turns into a real slog with speed on a slowly run race would really suit him. I could be going nuts but I think that Shoot Out is a blow out chance he won first up at the mile then was off the track with top weight all the way in the Epsom being as wide as 4 wide for most of the trip his run was much better than it looked on paper especially for the tempo that was on in that race.
My Top 5 right now would be
1. Green Moon
2. Shoot Out
3. Ocean Park
4. Rekindled Interest
5. Ethiopia

In order for Pick 8
Pierro
Proisir
Ocean Park
Green Moon
More Joyous
All Too HArd
Ethopia
Shoot Out
Not sure on the order of the top 4 but I am fairly certain More Joyous and All Too hard do not place in the top 4.

I'm drawn into Proisir. I doubt Pierro and All Too Hard over the trip. Ocean Park, Green Moon, Shoot Out and Ethiopia for the trifecta.

The more I look at the race, the more confused I get. So, lets go for a bit of value, both totes. Proisir, Shoot Out & Sincero.

Anyone else notice horses in wide barriers winning most of the races today at MV. I wonder if this bodes well or bad for Pierro and Prosior.
I don't think Gai thinks More Joyous can win this race. I don't even have it in the top 4 for this race.

Gai chose an outside barrier for MJ to avoid any early scrimages. Wonder if she anticipated the outside bias.
Raw Instinct
27th October 2012, 02:54 PM
The bias wil have little to do with the outcome of this race the speed it is run at will determine it forget everything else. if they walk the 3yo's and More Joyous's chances improve dramatically if they really turn the pressure on then I doubt any of those 4 will be seen in the finish I could be wrong though.

Whats your thoughts on the pace then ? Are they going to race hard up front?

You would expect a truly run race, pace to burn when you analyse normal racing styles

Would love to know how the Gai Waterhouse trio will be ridden
If 'as per normal' they could worry each other out of contention

Yea that I know of he has won on Ocean Park, So You Think as a 3yo and Makybe Diva best horse won the race the tempo of the race was definitely affected with Glass Harmonium missing the kick but I annoy sure it would have made a difference anyway I thought there were some very average runs amoungst them.
If I owned a 3yo with any ability I would go to this race now I think the weight advantage now going against what is not a great bunch of older horses just makes it such a huge advantage now.

Been a while between drinks (Sunline back-to-back 1999 / 2000) but NZ claims the Cox Plate again!
Ocean Park is set to race on, with trainer (part-owner) Gary Hennessy keen to defend his title in next year's Cox Plate before the horse embarks on a stud career
