Nice pick up Barny even though it didn't win. I might follow this horse for the next few races as it is a big gamble to bring the horse down here. Could it perhaps just be travelling to be a stable mate for another horse that has higher hopes ?

Could it perhaps just be travelling to be a stable mate for another horse that has higher hopes ?UB, I keep looking thru the form and find horses coming over from SA and winning here, one at a MV Night Meet a few weeks ago at 20's. Next time K Sweeney brings one to town empty the bankroll on it. I've done OK when I've disregarded the form and looked to the "visiting" trainers with a good S/R (50%+) ..... I don't bet much but have a decent crack these days. It was Freyer who brought Leica Larrikin with no form to Flemington, took me on the long journey of realising that any horse with 4 legs has a chance and that trainers do know what they're doing. It's a matter of having the kahunas to back a horse with no credentials to win a race in Melb, esp a lightly raced horse with no exposed form. Leica Larrikin went up 400m from memory to 1600m at "Headquaters", on the bottom weight and duly saluted, then proved how good he was by winning many more !! Donna Cattiva, scratched today, was screaming at punters in Adelaide many months ago when it won at 14 / 1, a couple of unimpressive starts this time in, then up to 1600m and won easily ..... then on to the TJ Smith GP1 ..... so the trainer knew this lightly raced horse was the real deal, and gave punters a good idea in Adelaide. Sometimes you just have to look for the "improver". Enuff from me, Kate did me in today, but there you go !! lol :)

I actually met Jim Cassidy during the spring Carnival some 10 years ago when I was out the front of a Japanese restaurant in North Melb, and Jim came out for a smoke. I'd had a bereavement in the family and was waiting out side for my wife, feeling sad .... Jim saw me and asked how I was going and I told him (I recognised him but didn't tell him so). He calmed me down, helped me a lot and spent a good half a hour with me (never mentioned racing) ..... He had owners inside I'm guessing.
A CHAMPION PERSON.
