If bookie A pays best of NSW or VIC totes and bookie B pays mid tote of the three main totes which would be the better way to go?

Hi SpeedyBen
If you take mid-tote you will always only get 2nd best. With Vic-NSW you will very often get the best price so this is the way to go. Mid-tote is offered by bookies as a means to prevent price manipulation in small pools.

Betfair..I would have assumed that until yesterday. The horses which the Don Scott ratings had at 3.0 or less ran 18 placings and the return on the best of 2 was $39 while the return on BF, where I backed them, was $30.
The first placegetter today paid 2.10 with the bookie and 1.46 with BF. Certainly opened my eyes.

Yep, pointy end is usually not much good but for example I just backed Rolston at Gosford & easily secured $1.20 over the Tatts place divy.

So short end - best tote or whoever wont cut you off.
The rest - Betfair.
