View Full Version : Double your bank every seven days.

Is it possible? Sure it is and here's the way to do it.
Set up a bank ( let's say $100 but it can be smaller ). Lay any horse in a race whose BF price is between 40.0 and 99.0 for a liability of $100. In Oz races I would not lay first uppers, first starters, second uppers or topweights ( thanks RP ). When you achieve a profit of 10% you quit. Tomorrow you start with a bank of $110. If you don't wipeout in seven days your bank will be a minimum of $200. From my experience wipeouts will be rare.
Now here's the second part of the money management plan. When your bank doubles you put 50% of your profit into a reserve bank. You start week 2 with a bank of $150. If that doubles you have another $75 in your reserve bank. When your wipeout comes you start again with a portion of your reserve bank. What portion you use would depend on how many times you have doubled your bank before the wipeout.

My bank has just increased by 11% and my bot has quit for the day. It took 7 races and 7 seven horses were laid in total. 3 of the 7 races did not contain a horse which fit my criteria.

Got a name for this one yet Speedy?
Maybe "The Speedysaver" or "Benforyourbank" ?
You'll think of a good one.

Hi SpeedyBen,
Any reason to stop once 10% ahead?
If you have a long-term edge laying in this range, wouldn't it be better to let it ride all day?

Hi SpeedyBen,

If you have a long-term edge laying in this range, wouldn't it be better to let it ride all day?I don't know the answer to that one. I believe fewer wipeouts will occur early in the day but it's only a theory.
If you are a real thrillseeker you could run it all day and do the liability adjustment whenever the bank increases by 10%. You could easily double your bank in a day and then adjust the reserve bank accordingly.
Sort of Seven Squared on Speed.

I set my bot loose to try to increase the bank by 100% on the UK races last night. It achieved its target in 170 minutes. There was only one scare which fizzled out before the last hurdle but I prefer the softly, softly approach of trying to pick up a smaller %. I may set the bot to try to increase the new bank by 25% or so in the UK. Anyway, there is now 50% of the original bank in the reserve bank.
SpeedyBen

Today's 10% increase was achieved in 80 minutes with horses laid in 4 races in that time.

I did suggest to the lord that he wasn't meeting his kpis but he told me to go forth and multiply. I assumed he meant my betting bank.

I might give a version of this a try SB. I just looked at possibly doing it in the following way:
Starting Bank $100
Each time you make profit equal to your starting bank ($100), 60% of that profit (instead of half) goes to a reserve and 40% goes back into the betting bank.
By my calculations it would take just 5 cycles before your reserve equals your betting bank and starts to surpass it.
Anyhow just another idea, i'm sure this could be tweaked in any number of ways.
SpeedyBen
30th May 2013, 02:37 PM
After 4 completed days the original bank has increased by 57%. The power of compounding will see the bank doubling comfortably in 7 days if there are no wipeouts.
Slightly better than bank interest.

It's a pretty unsophisticated one called GHB Lite. If you are trialling bots The betengine is one with a lot of features for about $15 per month. I think they give a trial still.

It's skating on the edge but if the bank doubles a couple of times it should be ok. My theory about getting in early paid off today as there were a couple of longshots later that I would have laid under the rules.
It's only a fun thing for me and it does give me a sense of achievement when it hits its 10% target without mishap.
SpeedyBen
31st May 2013, 12:17 PM
After 5 betting races today the 10% target was achieved with a bit to spare. The bank has now inceased by 74% over 5 days and is well on track to double within the projected 7 days.

Speedy, do you lay all between $40-$99 each race, or select one per race?JB
I lay all except for the exceptions listed in post #1. The exceptions are those which are most likely to win at long odds, IMO.
SpeedyBen

After a scare in race 2 at Newc the 10% profit was achieved safely. The original bank has increased 95% after 6 days so the 100% increase in a week only needs one success tomorrow and it will have been achieved.

Have you checked results in later races?
This could be your ticket to the PENTHOUSE my good fellow!! :DIt's a hit and run method Schmile. There were two winners late in the day a couple of days ago that would have sunk me. I think the early races are less prone to upsets so I won't order the penthouse yet.
I really wanted to show that a gambler could double a bank in 7 days and if there is one success tomorrow I will have done that. There are not many ways of doing that so it's two fingers to Senator Xylophone.

Should think there would be quite a few smiling faces out there thanks to your suggstions on how to operate, Speedy. Let's hope it keeps up.
A question if I may:
What do you use as your optimum time for laying? I have been using the B/F 'projected SP' figure close to post time which seems to be working fine -- I guess it really does not matter....the old swings and roundabouts!!
SpeedyBen
1st June 2013, 06:24 PM
Thanks Merriguy. Much appreciated.
With the sometimes thin Oz markets I set my bot to lay at 10 secs before jump time and to keep checking the prices until the race starts. I agree with you that it probably doesn't matter much.

Speedy, I think that as Club President, you owe it your patrons, to let them know, with the compounding used in your staking plan, that by September they will have made enough for a RTW Business Class ticket and $10,000 cash.

NO WAY!!
Speedy might just have to modify his staking plan to plateau after week 11, so it'll take a week or two longer....All right then, I'll book the flights for the end of September. The quicker the better the way the $ is sliding.

Since i've been elected Pres by RP my first act is to make the good Senator ambassador to Afghanistan.
My second is to allow online betting on sports.
Since most presidents seem to have enormous palaces ( President Gore, for example ) I'll have one built on the banks of the Swan (including the obligatory pure gold taps).

AND THEN?? "Control" R5 Ballarat, $BF 30 SP get's up. Of the last 92 longshots this horse is the ONLY one that I couldn't eliminate using all the filters.
I think these ultra long 3000m and high weight races have got to be added to the list?

Are these highweight races for jumpers and is there a reason why they are on today?

I think they are mainly run at the picnic/non-tab meets, but do get run regularly at Victorian Tab meetings, as to reason why I am not to sure.

Hard to have sure but not impossible.
The odds on betfair 3.5 times greater than on course S/P doesn't help.
Certainly those Highweights "Jumpers Flats" are races i have always avoided.
Cheers.

one question. How do you apply your filters with your bot?(1st starter, top weight, etc)I'm sure I won't dodge them all, Maark.
I saw your post on the other thread about automating what I do. I doubt you'll find one. I have to tick off the horses I want considered for each race and then automate the price evaluation. It takes about 5 mins per meeting to set up and can be done the night before. The bot ignores scratchings.
