When you see a designation like 'PkD3', that is one selection rating. Then say 'Ind-PkD2', another combination of ratings, and so it goes on. You could have any number of these selection methods applying to each race, say 6 of them. Some will overlap and pick the same selection, others not, so it's no difference to dutching 3 or 4 horses in every race. Try and make a profit out of that?

It's all well and good listing winners, but what about the losers? What is the POT% of any one or combination of these selection methods. What is the max bank drawdown. What is the run of outs between wins? What is the cost of the daily data download and platform?

It was an interesting first half of July. As I monitored the performance each day I was seeing more of 21% -24% top pick strike rates on daily bases, rather then our usual 27%. I was convinced, from these observation, that the fortnight was going to be not so good. At the end .... 27.43%.

Just goes to show you that often the perception you have about your punting is WRONG. Looking at actual stats, rather then thinking you can remember them often shows a different picture, we are after all human and as such tend to gravitate towards believing the negative far easier then we do the positive. The picture is often not as grim, a reality check of the actual stats can prevent lot of the negative perceptions.

The ratings that are displayed in the recent highlights section are as you say the speed rating, intelligence rating, indicators and pkd. Each rating is designed for a different purpose. We display them so that prospective clients can evaluate the broad range of options available. The Pkd and indicators are more likely to find long shots whilst the speed rating and in particular the IR rating is more likely to identify winners within the top end of the market chances. As a reminder these results aren't intended to represent a betting strategy they are simply a factual summary of the winners that are identified across the aforementioned ratings. Of course there are plenty of losers as well but as the title of the thread is called "Recent fortnight winning highlights" that is what is listed.

Not sure of the point you are trying to make, however it is obvious that a punter has the choice of which rating/horse to back in any race assuming that they choose to bet at all on a given race or races.

Well it's nice to finally see some transparency appearing in R2W posts. Yes in any race you could have in excess of 80 combinations of Ratings, Form & Price factors and be able to spruik that your software provided a $41 winner. In fact I've seen InD indicators yield $100+ winners.

My point is to make others aware that a subscriber can't be betting on every possible combination and expect to profit. Win maybe, but not profit. It looks mighty enticing seeing all those big $ winners without a mention of the number of selections possible, the POT of any one selection method or a skerrick of disclaimer, unless you read the Terms and Conditions, that you referenced in a post the other day, an excerpt:

......"the Company shall not be liable to you or any other person for any direct, indirect or consequential loss, damages or costs suffered in relation to any of the information and/or selections supplied by any of our products or that of reliance upon any information contained within the Ratings 2 Win website".....

I'm not saying that in the right hands and with the right training, it couldn't be profitable, which I'm sure you'll attest to. The downfall though is letting a novice loose on it and expecting them to know how best to use it. Axis is not a selection/tipping service or set and forget system, it's an interactive tool to assist with analysis only and ultimately up to the user to make a selection and be solely responsible for that selection. The manual that accompanies the software is about which button to push, it doesn't delve into the merits or otherwise of a horse having certain gear or the rails out etc and how that may or may not impact. Personally I believe the software would be most useful in the hands of an experienced punter to enhance his/her decision making, but not so a novice. Similarly, any complex FX or share/sport trading software, providers have tutorials for novices to assist them. For instance a product like Betangel have them all the time.

Any chance of posting PROFIT/LOSS with these results. Strike rates by themselves can be misleading.Thanks for your question. Can I just say that the strike rate is not misleading, it is a FACTUAL statement of performance, it cannot be misinterpreted and can be scrutinized by potential clients.
Your question leads more to whether it is possible to make money with it. Which is a fair question! We have previously published the POTs, the issues with this is many fold.

1. What div do we use ? If we use single tote, then this casts an unrealistically bad light on the results. If we use better options we are then accused of embellishing our results.

2. The strike rate indicates performance of the rating, that is all that we stand by and can control (as opposed to dividends) but under no circumstances are we saying that betting the top pick (for instance) in every race makes money; the selection of bets rests with the client and as a result we cant really publish profits as we do not know what races/horses clients wish to peruse. Axis and the data are tools.

3. Time frame makes it also hard to judge anything, a months result is not a indicative of longer term performance.

4. Most other competitors (free or otherwise) don't publish anything close to our (up to date) results let alone the POT ! Or they pick and choose their races (which becomes tipping, not rating). Or they just make unsubstantiated statements. So there is little to compare with; its a given that all RAW ratings lose money, the point is how close are you to breakeven as a starting point.

5. There are some that have unrealistic expectations and agendas, due to point 4 or other issues.

Having said that, it is obvious that I will have to answer the question after all. We are not trying to avoid it, far from it, Im very proud of our work, Im going to provide strike rates and POT for ALL RACES for our Intelligence Rating for 2014, I hope that is fair ? At least we eliminate the short term frame issue.

Early/better shopping can secure even better prices and better outcomes; our BEST testable combination in the Betting Analyses yealds +0.22 POT but this depends on the user and is likely not realistically achievable under normal circumstances. However it is possible to obtain results SOMEWHERE BETWEEN the worse and best case scenario featured above. Remember these are FACTUAL statements that can be scrutinized by potential clients.

It should be noted that our public membership allocation is currently full, due to our limited membership. The only subscription on offer is Historical which is also the prerequisite of being in the queue for standard Axis subscription, anyone interested should contact the office for updated status. Further, having answered the question factually, I will not be engaging into any debates regarding the statements made.

Im very excited to see the results of 2nd Half of October and first half of November (found below). These reflect the outcome of improved algorithm we introduced mid October. We continually question and investigate alternatives to our methods and strive to improve. We never rest on our laurels. Well at least not for long (one does need a break from time to time).

The changes implemented provided a great Melbourne carnival results for our clients with 29% strike rate for the top pick on our IR rating across all meetings in 1st half of November. Our SR rating managed to capture 2 Big 6 results for the Melbourne (major) meetings in the top 4 selections netting over $300,000 in divs. The Melbourne Cup winner was 2nd and 3rd pick on SR and IR respectively and the 2nd 3rd place getters were 1,2 in the Distance ratings (very important over long races).

I am looking forward to seeing how the improvements continue to hold up long term, however historically using our stringent testing and development methods, our improvements always continue to perform, so Im quietly confident that we will continue to hold the new edge. Remember our quest is long term performance not day to day outcomes.

Our long term Intelligence Rating top pick strike rate has just gone up!

The improvements to ratings done in late 2014 are continuing to deliver consistent long-term performance. Those that dabble in ratings know that the strike rate of a method has the tendency to go down as the sample size increases. This will continue until the true performance level is achieved. Once a sample is large enough the long term strike rate usually remains steady and is hard to change.

I’m pleased to report that ours is moving up! With a sample of over 80,000 races the long term strike rate has just moved up from 26.8 to 26.9% based on the above mentioned improvements.

Whilst it may not look like much to the uninitiated, those that understand what change is required to move a strike rate with that size sample will appreciate the level of work we put into our data and ratings to facilitate this improvement. To better illustrate it took over 4 of better than average months to move the strike rate. This is a very significant improvement for us!

Michal,

That's an ok strike rate for a top performer, but strike rates can be misleading. What's the Profit or Loss on those selections either betting $1 or betting to win $100 ? I realises sometimes different ratings call for different types of staking.

I ask because just taking the top favourite has a strike rate of 30%+ and top 3 is around 70%+ but we all know backing the top 3 in the market is still going to cause a loss no matter how you stake it.

PS Sorry for the lateness of the reply, I now only come here to this thread to update the stats.

Thanks for your question. Can I just say that the strike rate is not misleading, it is a FACTUAL statement of performance, it cannot be misinterpreted and can be scrutinized by potential clients.

1. The strike rate indicates performance of the rating, that is all that we stand by and can control (as opposed to dividends) but under no circumstances are we saying that betting the top pick (for instance) in every race makes money; the selection of bets rests with the client and as a result we cant really publish profits as we do not know what races/horses clients wish to peruse. Axis and the data are tools.

2. Most other competitors (free or otherwise) don't publish anything close to our (up to date) results let alone the POT ! Or they pick and choose their races (which becomes tipping, not rating). Or they just make unsubstantiated statements. So there is little to compare with; its a given that all RAW ratings lose money, the point is how close are you to breakeven as a starting point.

Im very proud of our work, Im going to provide strike rates and POT for ALL RACES for our Intelligence Rating for 2014, I hope that is fair ? At least we eliminate the short term frame issue.

However it is possible to obtain results SOMEWHERE BETWEEN the worse and best case scenario featured above. Remember these are FACTUAL statements that can be scrutinized by potential clients.

As I had to do a test recently for the Newspaper price (not using our software) here is the Strike rate for the same period as above: Top pick 25% and -17% POT using NSW tote. Ours is -11.37% Something to compare!

Sorry for the late reply, I did not see your post.

We do provide QLD Saturday metro assessment of all the races, its our SRA product line. This is a broad range product but we offer suggestions with staking in the sheets sent out. I don't think though that that is what you had in mind.

We have offered best bets service in the past. To boot it was free and very profitable. The issue is that unlike other software/data providers, we use Axis and our products to punt with so wider dissemination only hurts out own pockets and unfortunately a simple best bet service is unlikely to be offered.

Our innovation and products are driven from the need to improve/maintain our edge over the market, not to create some extra sales. The sales are the result of the outstanding quality of products we offer and fund the development for all of our (limited client base) to share in and cover the costs associated with producing our verified data.
