Watched a movie last night called 'Focus' with Will Smith. Thoroughly entertaining but a bit far fetched. However, there was a scene at a football game, where Smith bet over a million dollars that his betting opponent could look over all the players jersey numbers, pick one and Smith's girlfriend would guess it. He won of course, but it was a case of infusing a certain 'number' into a person's mind without them knowing?

An brief example: It's Saturday, and you're going to watch the races on TV and have a bet.
You're alarm wakes you at 7:00am
You drive your Audi A7 down to the 7/11 and get a paper.
Come home and switch on Channel 7.

Without you knowing it, the number 7 is indelibly imprinted in your mind. What's the bet you'll be drawn to bet on horse 7 in the seventh race perhaps? Seems far fetched but no different to people betting lucky numbers, for no other reason than....... they're lucky??

I'm sure I've seen much the same stunt be successful on a reality TV programme. It was either a Derren Brown special or the show about con artists - the name of which alludes me at present.

In searching for a link, I found that Derren Brown made the following programme:

Derren Brown: The System (2008)

The System, a Channel 4 special in which Brown shared his "100 percent guaranteed" method for winning on the horses, was first shown on 1 February 2008.

Here's the playlist on youtube :)
