View Full Version : Good 2YO Betting System...

8th April 2016, 12:20 AM
Here are the rules.
1. This betting system operates on City meetings on Saturdays and major public holiday meetings, such as on Mondays. It does not operate on midweek racing and country racing.
2. The 2YO must be a last start winner between 1 length and 3.75 lengths in its current campaign.
3. If there is more than one qualifier in the race, back the horse with the biggest last start win.
That's it.
Good luck!

hello Neil
curious why you've set the max winning margin at 3.75 lengths
Ours To Keep who won the listed 2yo event at Doomben on Saturday won his previous start at Doomben by 4.30 lengths (thus not qualifying by your current rules)
a winning margin > 3.75 lengths especially on a city track, not a good thing?

When discussing this many years ago with a successful punting friend he suggested with automatic rules like in betting systems 4l. plus often indicates a very weak beaten field.
Different when using judgement etc.

If you find no other horses from that race where this horse won have gone on to be competitive or win then yes it is a weak field and you discount the winning lengths, but if 2 or 3 of those horses have gone on to place or win other races then its a very good 4L win.
As always its a "depends" which make the difference of a profit or a loss and it needs to be coded into your system logic or handicapping process.

Interesting stewards report:
"Santos – co-trainer Mr A Bott reported to Stewards that on the afternoon of Friday, 29 September 2017 the colt had overreached and sustained a minor laceration to its near-fore heel.
Santos was examined by the Club's Veterinary Officer after arriving on course and passed fit to start.
Began awkwardly. Raced wide without cover for the majority of the event.
A post-race veterinary examination revealed the colt aggravated a pre-existing injury to its near-fore heel."

Will be watching the run of unraced 2yo filly Balaabel today. The $500K purchase taking on some smart ones at Morphettville but she is well bred & did win her last trial easily by 11.50L.

Balaabel ridden up on the speed her next start. Fought on for close 4th but other than that, did nothing out of the ordinary.

Another for the watch-list, unraced gelding Well Known. By Deep Field from Disclosure, trained by Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott. Recently won a trial (as a 2yo) by just under four lengths. Did reasonably well previous two trials but the addition of blinkers this time around, made a big difference.

One for the watch-list, 2yo filly Cellsabeel. Won a recent barrier trial in very impressive fashion. Just the one official start previously where she got back in the field, racing greenly, but still got home strong to run 4th.

Close look at barrier trials, especially early in the season, is an obvious 'system' starting point. For example, top notch trial performance by Coolangatta franked by her easy win yesterday.
