Anyone have the stats on the increase in profit betfair would give over best tote dividends? I know BF seems to throw around the 17% figure, however, i also know that alot of this can come down to the longer priced runners boosting this.
If you are looking at the pointier end of the market (under $10), whats a realistic figure? If you had a system showing a 4% loss at best tote, would Bf be enough (after commission) to kick it into profit?

From memory most people here have said that pointy end of the market best tote is actually better then betfair SP for instance.

Okay small sample so will vary long term no doubt.
From Saturday, Rosehill and Flemington.
$10 and under
18 races
BFSP total divs added up - 426.58
Best tote divs added up - 394.7
BF Advantage - 8%
Winners only under $10
17 winners
BFSP - 96.45
Best Tote - 88.8
BF Advantage - 8%
through my beer affected dodgy calculations........ after commission (so take with grain of salt), BF advantage of approx 4%.
Be interested if anyone has collected more of these figures for comparison?

Yes, it depends on the market as there are differing rates.
And it depends if you are betting $10 or $10,000.
And it depends if you can get on with fixed prices at the corporates.
And it depends if you can pick up the occasional "odds boost" lol
It does also matter if you are betting the win market, or place market, or racing or harness.
And...
it is not uncommon to place a bet into the BF market that is many points above the crowd and for that bet to be picked up during the wild fluctuations..
There are also other complications... for example BF sometimes pays a 3rd divvie when the others don't but this BF 3rd divvie is lower then the tote 2 place divvie.
Would be interesting to see if anyone has long term stats on this from their own resources.

So a few more races done the old fashioned way.
Seems under $5, there is around 2% advantage after commission, $5-10 a bit more.
Anyone with a database wanna come along and save my fingers from more data entry?
One thing I noted, the actual winners on BF are generally close to the TAB price even for the longer prices. Quite a good guide to winning chances in the race....

... it is said that the BF market is the most accurate predictor...
