Spring Punting Comp 2018

[Sportz]

NATIONAL PUNTING LEAGUE (Spring 2018)

Here's how the comp works. We will all be tipping against each other for 10 weeks from this Saturday, August 25, through to October 27. Then at the completion of those 10 weeks, the top tipsters will go to a final series over the week of the Melbourne Cup carnival.



Please read the rules carefully.

RULES

1. Of the 10 weeks during the preliminary rounds, you must tip on at least 7 of them. You are allowed to miss 3 weeks. No more. People will have to start tipping by September 15 or they miss out.

2. You can post anywhere between 3 and 15 selections each week.

3. You can bet anywhere between $60 and $300 each week. The leading tipsters are judged on % profit, not the total amount of profit. So betting more won't give you a better chance. But you can change the amount you bet from week to week depending on your confidence.

4. On each selection, you can bet any multiple of $5 up to $30, either win only or win & place. Last time I allowed place only betting but I've gone back to the previous rule which was that you must bet at least $5 for the win on every selection.

5. You can tip at any Australian or New Zealand gallops meeting covered by UBET on Saturdays. Which is just about everything.


Calculating your $ return:
I will be using Sportsbet TT+ to calculate the return on all races if available. If not available, I will be using UBET dividends.

Only managed to reproduce about half of what I used to have ahead of Saturday so wasn't very confident in the selections at all. ...and then I managed to bet around the winning ones! :D

Here is the draw for the first day of the finals which is Saturday, Derby day.

(winner goes to major semi on Tuesday against Kellmark - loser goes to minor semi)

Percentum v Dillwar

Just a minor change to the betting rules used during the preliminary rounds. You can now post between 5 and 10 tips instead of 3-15 tips. The bet sizes remain the same as we've been using all the way through.

The person listed first in each matchup finished higher on the ladder, so they are given the "home ground advantage" of having 25% more to spend. The person listed first is allowed to bet between $125 and $250 while the person listed second gets to bet between $100 and $200. In each case, betting the maximum amount won't actually give you a better chance. Because I will simply be converting your total winnings back to a score out of 125 or 100 as the case may be.

The tipster in each matchup who posts second is only allowed to include one of the horses tipped by the person who posted first. Just to clarify this... The person who's listed 2nd doesn't have to wait around and post their tips 2nd. They can get in and post their tips first if they want to. But whoever it is that ends up posting 2nd in each matchup, they can only tip one of the horses that the 1st tipster has picked.

In the unlikely event of a tie, the match will be awarded to the tipster listed 2nd.
