Just here to tell you that I'll probably be starting this up next week, so giving you plenty of warning. Hopefully we can all find lots of winners.

NATIONAL PUNTING LEAGUE (Spring 2019)

Here's how the comp works. We will all be tipping against each other for 13 weeks from this Saturday, August 3, through to October 26. Then at the completion of those 13 weeks, the top tipsters will go to a final series over the week of the Melbourne Cup carnival.



Please read the rules carefully.

RULES

1. Of the 13 weeks during the preliminary rounds, you must tip on at least 10 of them. You are allowed to miss 3 weeks. No more. People will have to start tipping by August 24 or they miss out.

2. You can post anywhere between 3 and 15 selections each week.

3. You can bet anywhere between $60 and $300 each week. The leading tipsters are judged on % profit, not the total amount of profit. So betting more won't give you a better chance. But you can change the amount you bet from week to week depending on your confidence.

4. On each selection, you can bet any multiple of $5 up to $30, either win only or win & place. No place only betting. You must bet at least $5 for the win on every selection.

5. You can tip at any Australian or New Zealand TAB gallops meeting on Saturdays.


Calculating your $ return:

I will be using the closing tote and fixed odds prices on the Qld Tab and you will get whichever is the highest.

Just a minor change to the betting rules used during the preliminary rounds. You can now post between 5 and 10 tips instead of 3-15 tips. The bet sizes remain the same as we've been using all the way through.

The person listed first in each matchup finished higher on the ladder, so they are given the "home ground advantage" of having 25% more to spend. The person listed first is allowed to bet between $125 and $250 while the person listed second gets to bet between $100 and $200. In each case, betting the maximum amount won't actually give you a better chance. Because I will simply be converting your total winnings back to a score out of 125 or 100 as the case may be.

The tipster in each matchup who posts second is only allowed to include one of the horses tipped by the person who posted first. Just to clarify this... The person who's listed 2nd doesn't have to post their tips 2nd. They can get in and post their tips first if they want to. But whoever it is that ends up posting 2nd in each matchup, they can only tip one of the horses that the 1st tipster has picked.

In the unlikely event of a tie, the match will be awarded to the tipster listed 2nd.

It actually came to $234 under my calculations, but that number has to be halved to get your final score of 117. Just as my total of $270 was halved to get my score of 135.
