TRACK BIAS

How do we bet with any confidence on the 1st race of the day without judging whether it will suit onpace or swoopers????I know it often changes as the day goes on!Some punters have theorys on particular tracks that when the rail is true it favours onpacers, rail out swoopers, or do we forget 1st race and wait and see???The experts will say if the horse is good enough none of the above will matter! Any thoughts.

In our opinion track bias is massively overrated when it comes to adversely affecting results. It's more often than not used as an excuse after the event.

I doubt that track bias can be statistically validated for any meeting - there are too few examples to make any statistically valid conclusion.

For the bias to supposedly change as we get into an eight horse meeting to us seems to be a rather dubious conclusion when more than likely there was no bias whatsoever.

Because a couple of leaders win early is no reason to claim a roaring leaders' track. Likewise if a couple of backmarkers win. Pace of the race and ability of the backmarkers are very relevant factors.

Maybe track bias is also one area the TAB dominated racing media need to correct - to get punters to bet confidently before they see what bias, imagined or otherwise, exists on the track.

Maybe their tipsters will be told to no longer mention track bias as it puts punters off!

Yes Neil it does put punters off,Im afraid we do have the media/callers to blame for these assumptions and yes it is used to easily justify a horse's poor performance after the event!Pace in a race combined with positioning on the track is a key part in determining the winner.Maybe we take it for granted,wrongly,that because a horse sometimes settles at the back it will always.We also forget that each race is a completely different set of circumstances!Thankyou for your views.
