Evening All

This is freaky, today was a lazy day off for me so I logged on and had a few bets while watching the Slim Dusty funeral.(get a life you say)...Anyway Dubbo race 2 Horse No1 Dusty Warrior Won $8.20 and race 5 Horse No11 Slim Shady won $20.40(WATAB) I had $10 win on both but my question is has anyone else experienced such omens and followed them? The 100th running of the Newmarket Hcp was won by a handy horse called Century. Maybe I should throw form etc out the window and search for concrete omens and follow gut feeling....

Cheers

Yes Nanook,
it happened when Brew won the cup.I was just having a few beers with some mates and one of them pointed out the horses name and the fact that he was no.24 seen as there's 24 in a box and he was listed to start from barrier 24 we had a few bucks on him.Best omen bet ever.(might be something there for Haychee!)

No doorbell and no phone - no need!

Seriously, what a sad loss to Australia and music such an icon and nice bloke.

I had the privilege of meeting him in person some years ago.
He was exactly as he was portrayed - a fair dinkum good bloke.

My Omen bet story was that about 3 months ago while drinking at my local pub, the Village Green, a race at Grafton happened to be called the Village Green Hotel (Grafton) Plate. One of the horses was called Working Class Man. It was not the favourite from memory but seeing as I was in my local "working class pub" I thought the omen was too good to pass up...It duly saluted paying about $7-$8.

Most of you wouldn't know that Slim owned the Metung Pub [not a pub without beer and has a good tab. too] in Nth. East Gippsland across the lake from us in Paynesville [near Bainsdale].

Went over there for a counter lunch and a bit of a punt with the wife.

In fact Stebbo we backed Staggers with a 1x5 w/p. It came in third for 2.30.

What a gent Dusty was.

Cheers.

A couple of years ago, and the Cup eve, my wife and I were in Coles, and our eyes were drawn to a shelf, empty, except for one can... A can of Rogan Josh Curry! That was a bit freaky, want forget that in a hurry...

You cracked me up with the Rogan Josh. Keep them coming fellas I'm sure there's plenty more each with there own little story.

A few years ago a mate and I went trackside to Ascot and on the way in we saw this well proportioned nubile young filly, my mate flicked through the racebook and came up with Girl About Town - ridden by a female trained by a female in the last race, after doing our hide all day our inebriation persuaded us to put $50 each on the nose The Girl won paying $47. I'll never forget it. In terms of an enjoyable day it was ectasy.

Cheers
