[7] A nominated best bet of $20 allowed with $10 each on 3 other races.

Sports and Easy.

The rules are BASIC: 5 tips x $10 each or 1x$20 and 3x$10 [$10 tips can be broken up between more than one runner ], Uni-tab prices.

Rule 11. Check your egos at the door, or better still, put up your tips [ the forms been available since Wed. on some sites ].

Crash,

I wasn't having a go at you or anything. I just thought Friday morning seemed a little bit early to put tips in when you don't know the scratchings or anything. But if you're confident enough of your selections, then good on you, and I see a few others have put their tips in early as well.

Personally, I haven't properly studied tomorrow's races yet and I won't until tonight.

Sports,

I shouldn't have to explain why my tips are early, but considering your concern, the reason is we have several people [ non-racers ] staying with us from tonight for the w/end. We have a big Jazz Festival on from tonight [ Don Burrows lives here, so it is BIG ! ].

If I get scratchings, I'll use the dosh next week.

Cheers.

Okay, I'm a bit confused. The time on my post suggests that I put my tips in AFTER Moon Mambo's race, when I actually made sure that I got them in BEFORE that race. Is there something wrong with the clock on this site??? It appears to be about 10 minutes fast on my computer anyway.

If you want to, I think you can still put tips in for the races that are still to run.

Personally, I think I should forget all about trying to pick winners and just use my system selections instead. Reactive was a selection for one of my favourite systems, but in the end, I only had a small bet on her because I personally favoured Blur and Ancient Song.

sportznut
21st February 2004, 03:50 PM
Good on you. Yeah, I should have had the guts to tip Reactive, but I thought Blur and Ancient Song probably had better chances. I know I shouldn't, but I tend to get influenced by the radio and newspaper tipsters, and if one of them had picked Reactive, then I would have had a bigger bet on her. Oh well, live and learn.

Are we supposed to post our own results or is someone else tallying them up? Anyway, for what it's worth, here are my results for week 1:

Moon Mambo (7x$2.40) $16.80
Royal Sash (7x$2.50) $17.50
Alinghi (7x$2.00) $14.00
Dane Again (7x$2.40) $16.80

Total $65.10 Profit $15.10

Not too bad I suppose, but I'm probably going to be a fair way off the lead. Wexford has started off with two good winners from his first two tips

The special for Kembla was mine--my mum part owns Sea Search (bloody horse), which was a bit disappointing. Seeing that the only 2 bets I had all day were Restless and a Parlay (first one ever)--Keep The Faith, Royal Sash, Lonhro, Alinghi (paid $54 for $11 investment), I don't suppose you could change my special to Restless?

Sportz,

FORGET the experts.

Last year I subscribed to many EXPERTS, I still get their info but don't actually bet their selections, just follow them.

If I had bet all the selections I would be in the poorhouse.

From what I have seen your methods are better than all of them and I am not p++++++
in your pocket.

I am currently doing my own thing for my main bets and playing around with yours, and quite happy as on most days you give a nice little extra earn.

Keep up the good work.

Cheers

OK. just a few teething problems, but overall, off to a flying start.

Answers to quires that came up :

'No Perth Uni-tab prices' [?]:

Perth Uni-tab prices from race 1 winners are [ from AAP site ]: 4.30,7.00,7.40,6.20,5.40,16.70,12.40,4.60

And for this week only-
Rosehill: 6.10,4.40,2.40,5.00,5.00,4.90,13.20,3.90
Caufield:
2.60,1.40,1.20,2.50,1.40,17.70,2.00,6.20,
2.40
Eagle farm:
6.90,4.90,7.00,2.90,5.00,5.00,4.40,11.10
Cheltenham:
3.90,4.30,1.60,8.90,16.90,10.40,11.90,3.10

'if you want to, I think you can put your tips in for the races that are still to run'.

Rule 9. Closing time for alterations is by official starting time of first tips race.

You can put tips in only up to your first tips starting time. Meaning, ALL your tips [ and any alterations to later tips ] must be in by the 'official' start time of your first tip [ to rule out an early tip being altered during a change to a later tip ].

This comp. like the last one, uses an honor system. The rules are designed to avoid major temptation only. Any obvious deliberate cheating will probably be spotted by someone somewhere.

The honor system applies to doing your own calculations of your banks weekly profit/loss standing and checking of Uni-tab prices for your winners as there is no hired help here. If you are wrong, someone will probably point it out.

Results should be edited into your tips post or added to this thread, so there is some record of your progress somewhere [you'll probably need to refer to it next week to work out where you are ].

A recorded time of editing results will show on the bottom of the page [which won't affect the time at top of page that notes the time you put in your tips ] and should be done after all races have run, not race by race [ for obvious reasons ].

Chuck,

The time you put in your tips was at 15.43 which by the rules would disqualify all your tips, as your first race, Caulfield R/6 started at 15.30 !!

However, as you noted this and as it is the first week, I vote your tips be allowed from R7 [ a win ] unless there is an objection [?]. Race 6 counts as a $10 loss [ credits are only for late scratchings of tips and not for unspent amounts from weekly $50 ].

The forum clock seems to be 8 min. out. So next week we will all allow for that. I vote that Sportz's 6min. late bet stands for this week [?].

My standing would have been $0 profit/loss, but as I changed my first bet R1 Melb. to a long shot [what the hell], I stand at $26 loss.

What a blue blood !! Did anyone take Alinghi for the big Diamond/Golden Slipper double ?
After his outstanding effort in the Diamond [ heart in mouth stuff yesterday for the big punters ] and the fact Freedman has already won 4 Slippers, what price Alinghi now in the Slipper ? The double was last achieved about 15 yrs. ago but I can't remember the horse [?].

*note: A new thread will be started for next Sat.28.02.04 on the Friday, or earlier if time obligations make it necessary . The thread can be put up by anyone.

Cheers.

Thanks Crash,

Yeah, I made sure that I put my tips in before my first race and then I was shocked to see the time on my post which suggested that I didn't. Anyway, the query about Unitab prices was actually for Kembla Grange. Unitab doesn't bet on NSW provincial meetings on Saturdays, so what will we do in future if someone picks a winner in one of these races? Use NSW divs?

Thanks Sportz,

Your right, Uni-tab doesn't cover all country Sat. meetings so where there is no coverage NSW divs. stand.

K/grange:
2.20,3.00,2.50,3.60,3.20,5.80,2.70,4.30

Congatulations Wexford, but the road is long and the comp. ain't finished until the fat lady ...falls off her horse.

Cheers.
