Starcraft and Special Harmony may well be the next two superstars of the turf along with Reset. Rumour around is that Reset did a tendon otherwise will be aiming for the cox plate in the spring.

I reckon Alinghi rates a mention too.

Agree with Starcraft and Reset - I only hope their owners don't wear them out too soon. If I owned Reset he would definitely NOT be coming to Sydney.
Would also add Fastnet Rock to the list. G. Boss is sticking with him even though he's only a 50/50 chance of making the Slipper field. Where there's smoke ....

Reset is spelling. Special Harmony is awesome, she should have started in the canterbury guineas for mine then the rosehill guineas before winning the derby.

Intergaze, Regimental gal is certainly a gun sprinter but what about a horse called Exceed and Excel to lead all the way and win the Newmarket like that was simply awesome.

However he cant be classed as an up and comer as he racing career is almost over.
I just wish he was gelded so we could see what he's really capable of. Instead he will never race in Australia again because more profit can be made by sending him to stud. The same thing happened to choisir last year and its a crying shame.

Geez, it pretty hard to put horses into the class of Lonhro...Special Harmony maybe Alighi...I think we are all waiting on the next 'Lonhro like' superstar to emerge. We are easily mislead, an example look at Niello the other night at Canterbury, when he turned the corner and went for the petrol he briefly looked like Lonhro is flight but that is one of the only times l've seen him run like his relative.

we are always looking for the next champion stacky. Look what happened when Northerly retired, suddenly Lonhro a great G1 performer but no champion becomes the sydney champion. I think special Harmony could be the next Sunline though.

Alinghi (of course I'm biased)

i agree mr.ed, exc & exc killed them in the newmarket, but i have followed reg. gal from the start, she never fails to deliver!

special harmony IS way above every other filly in this country, would be great to see her win some US races.Last saturday, her win was like a track gallop, did you see the way prebble rode the last 200 metres? it was like she was jogging back to her stable!!

Special Harmony I think has the potential to go on and be something special by virtue of the way she has treated her opposition .
Alinghi's run in the Blue Diamond was sensational but if they serve it up at its current fixed price in the Slipper Ill be laying it.

I would say that Alinghi is the most promising "up & comer"around.I just cannot see her getting beaten in the Slipper or the Sires if they keep her racing after the Slipper.I think she will get over a bit of ground and will be even better over 1400/1600 metres. The current mindset amongst rival jockeys & trainers can only help her cause, they don't think they can beat her,so watch out for some crazy riding tactics in the Slipper from her rivals. My only doubt in the Slipper is if it rains, she is not bred to go a yard in the wet.Starcraft is an exciting horse, but I wouldn't back him beyond 2000 metres as his breeding would suggest he would struggle over ground in top company.Rest is also exciting, but IMO Starcraft should have beaten him last time they met.Why they took young M.Pumpa off is beyond me,unless the owners/trainer wanted a Qld. jockey, but Seamer didn't do him any favours that day.Special Harmony is very talented, but remember she is a 3yo filly racing against her own age and sex,and there is just nothing else around in her group that can get near her.Lee has placed her beautifully &IMO she would win the Oaks, but watch a little girl called Timbourina next time they meet, probably in the Oaks.If Lee decides to run her against the males in the Derby,I will say here & now she cannot win.
Dance Hero is good, but I would like to see him come from off the pace and win.The only time he got rolled was when he couldn't lead, and he won't lead in the Slipper either. If you look at his early sectionals he just doesn't have enough early speed to lead a Slipper field that includes Crimson Reign & Wager,UNLESS they let him, which they wont.
My thoughts only, sorry this post got so long
cheers

Could Northerly be the next up and comer?

Just a note, it has been reported that Starcraft has a leg infection and is out of this Saturday's G1 Dubai Rosehill Guineas...

Its also great to see Yell back racing well again winning in pretty good company for the first time in a while.

Special harmony is definately a dominant filly, but could this just be the lack of competition she has faced in melbourne. I'm pretty confident fillies like only words, shamekha, and timbourina would have also killed the opposition faced by special harmony this autumn.

And looking at STAB fixed price she is rated a 2-1 pop for the derby and an even money chance in the oaks (only 4 days later). Surely she would be set for only one or the other especially if she is to run in the BMW aswell so you can pretty much half the odds offered making her $1.50 shot in Derby and money back in the Oaks

She's very, very good but i think i'll keep my money in my pocket or look elsewhere at those unders.
