Has anyone done any research into the impact of flexibetting on NSW trifecta dividends (i.e. a comparative shop with the same at TABCORP)?
I believe that it would have affected dividends and thus negated any research done prior to its introduction. Especially affected, I believe, would be the 'thumping' dividend which appeared every now and then.
I'd done a little bit of a comparison and TABCORP divs. were better than those in NSW.
There was a 'blip' several weeks ago when the last race in Brisbane paid $88 000 in NSW and only $22 000 on TABCORP. The reverse had been the trend in the short term workout I'd done (Epsom $22K TABCORP $12K NSW , a Brisbane race paid $15K TABCORP and only $3K NSW).
Let me know if you're interested in sharing the workload to do an in depth comparison.
The divs. are available on the net and I still believe that the trifecta offers the best chance of finishing ahead.
To me the concept of flexibetting is a bit like socializing (in the political sense) gambling. We can now all afford to take multiple combinations but the dividends will be shithouse. Still, we won't be losing that much.
Wondeful eh? Inclusive and all those other feelgood buzzwords. I'd better go and take my medication.

I've decided to do my TAB comparison month by month and will post the results as I do them.
My comparison is of TAB dividends TABCORP vs NSW TAB since the introduction of flexibetting.
Flexibetting began on Newmarket Handicap Day of 2001. I randomly chose May as the first month of my investigation. The meetings I have chosen are the four main ones every Saturday i.e. Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide. I will collate and talk about trends later but only enter raw data. (I do have a day job you know.)
May 2001
5th NSW TAB returns $66 more than TABCORP
12th TABCORP returns $1397 more
19th TABCORP returns $1377 more
26th TABCORP returns $1884 more
In summary:
TABCORP returned $4592 more in May 2001

Maybe you should have a look at articles in Punt to Win on this site at around the time flexi betting started.

How about maybe saving some time. Rather than looking at the Dividends a year ago start with them now and work back.
There is no disputing that when flexi betting came in the NSW dividends were shocking. But are they so bad now?

Your question will be answered in the next week or so, Catbird.
The several methods I operated before flexibetting were based on long term research. I believe that this research is now not relevant with the advent of flexibetting but want to check this out as comprehensively as I can.

A bit of a turnaround the last 2 months.
Anybody know why? Was there a hike in government % on TABCORP?
Will see if turnaround continues.

There is a turnaround. Initially with flexi betting many punters on the NSW tote overbet by taking too many combinations. They thought they were given this huge bonus!!!!!!!
They got the bigger payouts but outlayed a comparative fortune to collect.
Punters finally worked out that they were still losing with more collects because the collects were much smaller compared to their outlays.
As a result less combinations are being taken by punters using flexi betting so the dividends increase for the normal harder to get trifectas.

1st NSW by $2643
8th NSW by $65 668 (not a typing error)!!
15th TABCORP by $ 2 261
22nd TABCORP by $4064

12th TABCORP by $10 389
19th TABCORP by $3911
26th TABCORP by $3747
Summary
TABCORP better by $17 069
Overall: TABCORP better by $14 004.
This, despite an abberation with the whopping div. in December of 2001.
Without this TABCORP divs would be running at approx $80 000 better or $7000 + a month.
This imbalance was redressed with a similar unrepresentative result at a Ballarat Saturday meeting around Dec/Jan where the last race paid $75 000 on TABCORP and $22 000
in NSW (don't know date but wouldn't be hard to check as all info. available on the net).
Anyway, draw your own conclusions and make your own decisions.
Good luck.
