Does any one know the formula for working out the cost of a multi trifecta like if you had 3 for 1st 4 for 2nd and 5 for 3rd and the same horse in the first were also in the second and third and the second horse were in the third...you know what i mean

123 from 1234 from 12345 is 3x3x3 = 27

Quite simple, Shaun:
n x (n-1) x (n-2)
So in your example:
3 x 3 x 3 = 27

I think somewhere on the Vic TAB site you can plug in whatever combinations you're thinking of for all multiple bet types to find out the number of combinations involved. (Available even if you don't have an account with them).

Looks good...but something is wrong can only select 2 runners in the multi triffecta.....i will have to e-mail them....i have a program here that will do exactas triffectas superfectas pick 3 right up to pick 8 you you can't put in the numbers you want to bet on but you can select 12 runners in each leg...think it is a yankie program but is free....not sure where i got it but if anyone wants to upload it to a site i can send it to you

I'm not quite sure exactly what you meant there Shaun. The Trifecta part seemed to work okay when I tried it.

Hi Shaun
http://www.tabonline.com.au and ask for netbet its like a pro programme to place bets. They send it to you as long as you have an account.
This works out your bets and places them. I find it useful for trifectas.

I dont know whether anyone else has noticed this or even if I am correct in my assumption but do others think that the trifecta divvies have taken a nose dive since the introduction of Flexi Betting.
Cheers.

This should only affect the divies in NSW because people can put lots of combinations on....it is a good idea in some ways but yes it can have a negative affect.....i will tell you one thing....triffectas are getting more popular....check out the size of the pool compaired to other bet types.....as far as as working out the triffecta i can use the formula above or i can use the wa tab it allowes me to check cost before i place the bet.......talking about bets....what bet type do you like the best for big divies like quaddies or triffectas or what or maybe doubles

Big fan of Quinellas myself.
The forgotten medium I reckon.

I think quinellas are only good when both horses are over 6/1, but when you get 1 or 2 shorties, they are generally piss poor.
