Once again the sydney three year olds are reduced to a farcical field. I think Fastnet Rock has come back with an edge over Dance Hero and if he can just sit on his girth and peel of in the straight he may finally break his maiden status.

Cheers ED

Good call mr ed, yet again, I reckon Perry is a master trainer. His horses always come back better as a 3yo and his strike rate in Melb come springtime is nothing short of amazing.
Maybe he could teach Gai a few tricks, her horses run like cats in Melbourne

Big call, matilda, but i don't think your too far off the money. Nevertheless, i also think that Dance Hero will win, and i think he will go onto bigger and better things after this

$3.75 looks good to me Mug Punta in a five horse field.

No doubt and take the exacta with Fastnet rock beating Dance hero.Should pay between $7-8 I reckon

Mr ed
19th August 2004, 11:17 PM
Exacta looks good these two should be to slick for the first uppers. However i think 7-8 may be ambitious. The lack of runners means there is only 20 exacta combinations possible and when you consider public opinion figures in 8 of these and we are taking the two faves, i think 4-5 may be closer to the mark.

Cheers ED

Alright Ed, I am looking to squeeze every last dollar out of the exacta. Ur probly right. Who do you like for 3rd. I might take a straight out tri. Often even with the 3rd fav they pay anywhere b/w $15-20 even in small fields

Thanks maverick, I may even box the 3 as well as straightout in case of the blowout.
p.s Have been observing your system for a while now and you seem to have done well. Well Done!! Just a couple of queries though. Do you bet a % of your bank each week or do you just follow however many horses meet your systems criteria.
Also, in your trifecta do you take the selection + fav to win, from 6 others for 2nd and 3rd for 50c.Also, do you only use zipform for those 6 selections or do you put things you like in?

No limit on selections....but i do devote alot of time to form study...now with the big fields i can't see me having too many selections i just havent the time..lately i've been lazy and although im getting heaps of frustrating 2nds i'm not doing justice to my selections...easy to get a bit cruisy when you win a few..
Trifectas are
To win (TOP LINE) My selection , The top Zip rater and then the fav (usually prepost)
if my selection is the top Zip or the fav then the next in beting..
The 2nd line and 3rd line is the next 2 in betting and then the horse with the best barrier.
so thats 3/6/6 for .50c at a cost of $30

If my Selection is fav then i do a 2/7/7
with the top Zip rater on top with my selection
and then the next 4 in betting and then the best barrier selection.

the tris have been succesful i think the secret is to keep emotion out of your selections,,,the other day a 200/1 shot Kalenji from the best barrier came 2nd and the tri paid $10,000...its easy to fiddle around with selections but i stick to the formula..and it seems to work..

by wary of Golden Fox if its real wet..is a complete unknown in it...who knows could be a duck ??

outsider public opinion could add value to the tri

That is a very correct sentence by Maverick1993 :
"keep emotion out of your selections"

I always ended or drained my account thru emotions...

Need to learn how to control.

Good system. 3/6/6 and 2/7/7 as mention by Maverick1993

It's the hardest and yet most important key to winning on the punt, Matilda. Still struggling to do it well myself

seems strange they had a first 4 in this field as its exactly the same as getting the trifecta.
