does anyone else agree that wayne wilson is simply the WORST racecaller to ever pollute the airwaves?!

this bloke simply cannot call a finish with any clarity, regularily talking up runners as being in there with 1/2 a chance with 200 to go & the bloody things end up running midfield or worse!

i am sure they would love him in the usa, so wayne, mate please do me a favour & fo!

yeah he does get frustrating,,,i remember i had special song a couple of starts ago and he basically called it over the line only to see Uncle Shamos get the nod..
I like the guy who calls the adelaide meetings...he gets right into it and is usually very acurate..especially when he calls the jump races..

Wayne is definately a punter, if you listen
to one of his calls he will seem to favour a certain horse. It doesn't matter if it jumps from a close alley or the middle or wide he allways calls it first. eg such and such has got away ok etc. Then when they flatten for the run in he tends call it twice as many times as any other horse (even when it seemingly has no real chance) maybe he is willing it over the line.
But to be fair, racecallers do not have a very easy task at times. what with the amount of races nowadays.

The only one worse than WW was Ron Papps.

Hence the nickname "Pappslotto"

hi Mav,

The guy who does the races on the radio in Adelaide is Terry McAuliffe, 2nd best caller in Australia after Greg Miles (Melb, SKY). But if you meant on Sky that is Hilton Donaldson (he's getting better all the time). Both guys have come from trotting backgrounds. McAuliffe used to call at Moonee Valley for a quite a few years.

I think your a bit harsh on WW. Apparently he is very ill at the moment so give him a bit of a break. Agree that G.Miles is the best caller in Australia. Hilt's loves telling you a horses life story in the run ... "he won at gawler monday, balaklava tuesday and he'll win at morphetville on saturday...". Other than that he is very accurate in a photo finish. I think Alan Thomas is a great caller as well. Terry bailey I rate but since the line " here's the winner - crowned glory sweeping up the outside oh but Belle du jour, she's got up the belle"... he has been out of favour.
