Hi all those that are interested. I was wondering if people were interested in resuming the tipping comp that this forum has had in the past?

I would suggest basing the rules on the comp we had for the recent Autumn Racing Carnival.

Briefly the rules are (from memory):
- $50 "outlaid" or bet each Saturday every week of the comp
- all win bets only
- 5 x $10 maximum outlay per race, or
- 3 x $10 max bet and 1 x $20 "special" bet
- each weeks' tips must be in by the jump of your first selection (ie: before 12:45pm if you first tip is in Race 2 at 12:45pm
- any selections that are scratched can be changed before the start of the first run of your first seletion only
- all other scratchings will be "carried over" to the next week
- all prices are from Unitab only
- it is up to the idividual to get all tips and prices correct

If I have left anyting out please reply. I reckon we could begin this weekend Saturday 4 September and run to the end of the carnival.

Any furhter suggestions please reply

I think there should be 1 feature race each week that everybody HAS to tip in. For instance, on Caulfield Cup day, everybody has to tip in the Cup. What do you think?

I'm new to the site, so count me in.

I agree with a feature race each week. Eg, this week would be Ascot Vale.

Only 1 question, what is meant by scratchings can be carried forward to the next week? Does this mean that I can bet $60 the next week if I have a scratching?

Okay, I suggest we tip on the following days and concentrate on the following feature races. What do you guys think? Any suggestions most welcome. Will everyone be able to tip on Oaks day? If not, we can rule that one out.

Sep 4 Ascot Vale Stks
Sep 11 Manikato Stks
Sep 18 Gloaming Stks
Sep 25 George Main Stks
Oct 2 Epsom Hcp
Oct 9 Caulfield Guineas
Oct 16 Caulfield Cup
Oct 23 Cox Plate
Oct 30 Vic Derby
Nov 2 Melbourne Cup
Nov 4 VRC Oaks
Nov 6 Emirates Stks
Nov 13 Sandown Classic

Remember, everyone is allowed one week's grace from tipping. In other words, you are allowed to miss one week without being penalised. Any week after that you lose $50.

Puntz, you would still have the same number of bets as before (5x$10 OR 1x$20 & 3x$10), but one of your bets must be in the feature race of the day. Good idea??? I think it adds interest.

I too like the idea of a feature race each meeting that we all have to make a selection in.

Anyone can join at any time as long as they follow the rules. Also those that start late forfeit the balance to the point they enter the comp.

And of course there are no prizes except the adulation of beating some of the best punters in the land!

I'm not the boss. Just thought I'd start the official competition thread so that people can start posting their tips nice and early if they wish.

Cheers, I'm not at all fussed as long as someone has the comp thread started by each Friday when I usually do my tips (instead of work).

sportz,

I reckon the craiglee is a better betting race than the ascot vale. I think that should be this week's feature.

cheers

Yeah, I must amit that I agree with you there. I was expecting a bigger field in the Ascot Vale.

Okay then, we'll make this week's feature race the Craiglee Stks and in future weeks, we'll leave it till the Friday to decide on the feature race to bet on.
