Hindsight's a wonderful thing. I was only really keen about 3 races today and I got the winner in them, so why the hell did I include the other races then? :roll:

A couple of handy winners from the System selections (Tenacious Spirit and Face Value), but all in all, a pathetic day. I'm going to have to use a different approach.

Kiwi,

Thanks. Today was a shocker, but I'll try to pick it up from now on. I'm going to be a lot more selective. Today, I gave out some horses as selections when they really weren't fully qualified, and not surprisingly, none of them won. Live and learn.

Thanks Glenn.

I was busy yesterday and couldn't post my tips until mid afternoon by which time a few had already won at quite nice odds, so I didn't see the point in posting the rest.

Sorry about that.

DAMN!!! I made one heck of a stuff-up typing out the tips today. I've just noticed that for some reason I put Gundagai 4-13 down as a selection for both the tipsters system AND the longshot system when it was actually 4-1 that was supposed to be the longshot selection. I'm EXTREMELY sorry about this and I promise that I'll double check all my tips in future.

Just for an experiment, I'm going to have a go at something similar to Maverick's betting method. I don't expect to do as well as he has done, but if it proves fairly successful, then I'll keep using it. For the Trifecta selections, the 1st method is using pre-post prices and the 2nd method is using prices just before the jump. I'll also do the same with Unitab First 4 races.

Mack Race 4
3 Lady Lunchtyme $40 ---
2 Rosielee Miss $30 ---
1,2,3 - 1,2,3,4,5,10 ---
2,3,5 - 2,3,4,5,6,10 WON $98.25

Mack Race 5

4 Wise Thoughts $30 WON $108
1,3,4 - 1,2,3,4,5,11 ---
1,3,4 - 1,2,3,4,9,11 WON $143.15

Mack Race 7
11 Western Downs $35 ---
2 Rameka $35 ---
1,2,11 - 1,2,3,6,7,11 ---
2,3,11 - 2,3,6,8,10,11 ---

Tamw Race 3
10 Ballet Dance $35 ---
7 Foxy Phil $35 ---
7,10,11 - 2,7,9,10,11,13 ---

1 Mahonie $35 ---

1,3,5 - 1,2,3,5,9,12 WON $92.50

3 Late Prince $35 ---

6 Dover Heights $45 WON $103.50

Using method 1: -$208.35
Using method 2: +$271.80

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not a good day for the system selections at all. I'm really going to cut down on them in future and only concentrate on the very strongest qualifiers, which I'll then use in conjunction with the above betting method.
Well done Sportznut..
like to see you have more flexibility with your tris though..you have 3 horses on the top in some races where you've comfortably picked the top 2 you could leave that other spot on the 2nd and 3rd line to try and jag a bit more value.
Great result today though on a tough day you'll find it even better on Wed and Saturdays when the trifecta pools are much bigger.
I'm going to have to have to lift my game now i've got you showing me up :smile:
Firstly well done Mav. You are doing an excellent job and I hope you not only crack the 20k mark but keep going upwards and onwards.
Secondly, good on you Sportz 4 having a crack. I admire anyone who has a dip and has enough guts to put their selections up for all to see.
In Leica Dollars race today be wary of leaving out Freedmans horse.
I backed Leica dollar last time they raced and if the rides were reversed WAKIL would have won easily. Cheers
I cost myself a win by putting in a roughie in Werribee R3. Normally I go more for the favourites and I would usually have had Future Analysis in my tips. And then I left out Delago Dumper in Doom R4 after having it marked down last night. Damn!
Hi Sportznut
Just keep chipping away it will come together. Maverick is certainly showing great signs of success. Both of you combined may come up with a super method. Both have great ideas.
Just something of an idea for you on the trifectas you may want to look at.
If the fav is on top then have the say ($10 or better for win div) for second and rest for third.
If your selection in the three is good odds then put them in normally. This can cut cost and when you hit you can get some really great divs.
I prefer to miss the small stuff and when i hit get a good div.
regards
ubetido
Ubetido,
Thanks. Yeah, this is all just a bit of an experiment at the moment. I'm investigating quite a few different ways of making the most of the selections. Also thinking of maybe using a roving banker trifecta.
My biggest problem is ME. I take too much notice of outside influences like tipsters, late mail, ratings, pre-post betting etc, etc. Very frustrating. I missed a couple of winners today by changing my original selections. Maverick's got it beat because he just picks out his horses and takes no notice of outside influences.
Well done Sportznut..great figures..you owned Strathalbyn today..
great to see the figures comparison with IAS ..if you play it right the fixed prices can be very rewarding.
Great work on the 1St 4's ..i'm still working on a system for those..
Yeah, pretty good results today. 8 winners from 12 races and it really should have been 10 if I had stuck to my original selections. One of these days I'll learn.
Don't expect a very good result today. The weather is affecting pretty much all tracks.
You made some excellemt selections today Sportz, particularly on those wet tracks.
Have you created any more of those great systems during your break.
Well done Sportznut ..going great,
It seems the trifectas are more consistent using the latest markets. Using the early markets though gives you some value but are alot harder to get.
You're catching up quick :smile:
Yeah, working on a few. Mainly strengthening the current ones though. What I'm going to do is use the very strongest system selections in this new betting strategy I'm experimenting with here.
Well, all I can say is that if any of you backed these tips, I hope it was only in the races I was most confident about!!! :roll:
Geez, hindsight is a wonderful thing. Why didn't I just tip in those best 7 races and ditch the rest? They were absolutely HOPELESS!!! First 4s were shocking too.
Unfortunately, I couldn't update the IAS figures today.
Anyway, the win selections today were ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC and I apologise to anyone who may have backed them. Shocking! A couple of good trifectas meant that it wasn't a total disaster, but all in all extremely disappointing.
I'm going to have a rethink about the way I'm going with this experiment. I know that the figures say I'm still in profit, but I don't like the way things are heading. I've learnt from the last few days that the most important thing of all is value. You may say that that's obvious, but it's easier said than done for someone like me to change their betting habits. In the past, I've definitely been influenced WAY too much by public opinion with my betting, when of course the best way to get good value is to go against public opinion.
What's really made me have a serious rethink is today's tipping comp results. This afternoon, I just quickly picked out some horses which I thought might have a chance of getting up at nice odds. Well, I ended up getting two nice winners, as well as placings in the other 3 races. Certainly FAR better results than I got with these selections on here. So from now on I'm going for value all the way. The only thing is I have to work out the best method to exploit the value. I'm going to look at it a bit more over the next week or so.
Don't be to hard on yourself Sportznut..
You profited !
The whole basis of the system you're using is to go for value. You're looking for that runner in the race that has a show but might be risky..which means it usually has value.
If it all fails you hope the saver or the tri gets you through it.
My strikrate for my selections would be shocking..its not about that but about what you're finished with.
You are doing really well better than most others i know using the same princible.
You had a shocker yesterday and still walk out with a profit plus you had a few placings that if any of them won you would of had a nice profit.
I look at the form and study the races before i listen or look at any tipsters selections. This helps because your not swayed about what they say. If they back up what you think thats well and good and it also helps to know if you've got the race pattern right. But trust your instincts..
hudson jack was one that got away but hey there's another racing somewhere today :smile:
Mav, those figures are overall figures for the past 5 days, not the figures for yesterday. I lost yesterday. About $220 for the first method and around $570 for the second. I picked a couple of good trifectas and a first 4 with the pre-post price method, but the results for the win selections yesterday were just awful.
This is where I go wrong. While I always look at the races before I see any prices or tips or whatever, I must admit that far too often I get swayed on race morning and go away from my original thoughts. STUPID!!!
Oh i see what you've done..Still up in total though. Remember when i first started my thread i went under my stake and was starting to panic and nearly pulled the plug.
I'm guessing you are doing this Hypothetically as its something new to you .
I'd keep on going atleast till you go under your stake..
It's great for me and others on the forum to see you trying the system. People i know are either using my tips or the different other tipping services.
It's good to see someone with your ability with his own tips using the system if i can do it i know you can..
Well, I actually had a BRILLIANT result on the first race at Hobart and a nice win at Bairnsdale as well, but I'm afraid that I didn't really have the confidence to post them after yesterday shocking results. I think I should just play around with them on paper for a few days and see how I go before I begin posting tips again.
Hi Sportz:
We all get in a slump. I made 23 bets in a row without cashing on one of my losing streaks. Please at least Email your best picks at Bairnsdale and SS Coast to me.
It will pass, and you'll be kicking arse soon enough. Gleter@cox.net
Sorry Glenn, just saw your post now. Honestly don't know why anyone would want my tips after the previous day's effort.
As it turns out, I had a very good day yesterday tipping wise. It's just that I was so damn disappointed after the day before, I lost all confidence.
I think most of us on here know that he has no problems picking winners ..He Has shown everyone repeatedly .
Also i can vouch for some of his recent winners.
All though i haven't got him having a shot at 60/1 shots yet he did pick a 18/1 shot that he usaully wouldn't even usually look at...would of got the tri as well.
Confidence affects us all..hey i almost gave up yesterday and had no extra on the 60/1 shot i thought had a good chance today..usually i would of had an extra each way.. Still trying to keep emotion out of the equation. But its the hardest thing to do.
Keep on keeping on Sportznut ..
