Like last week.It was a shame Melbourne lost after trying so hard. The Swans deserve to go further in the Finals. Also because they could possibly give the Lions a run for their money.
I don't think the Saints are gonna feel sympathy about belting the Swans though.
Go you good things!

Yes I cant see why swans are favourites in that game.$2.10 is good even $1.90 for 5.5 start is good.Bit of a boring weekend without Lions to watch,I spose I could watch last weeks game on tape again. What did you think about yesterdays game,I thoughts port were just ok and cats very ordinary
Cheers

Why is it a shame Melbourne lost. Simply because you had your hard earned on 'em.
Essendon showed why they are a great club and will ALWAYS be a great club.
At 3/4 time many other clubs would have thrown in the towel but the Johnsons,Soloman, a half fit Hird stood tall.
I'LL always follow my Bombers through thick and thin, but it will be interesting if the majority of Brissie supporters will go and follow them when this era ends. I doubt it!!
P.S That doesn't mean the brissie fans on this forum wont follow 'em so don't get shitty.

Mo, Would like to know where your confidence for the saints this week comes from.
Gehrig will be playing injured. Hammill wont be back and the swans are up and flying.
Also, I wonder if there will be some deep psychological scarring from the Lions beating them up.
Do you factor that into your selections because I think it's critical. It's why I had to reassess where Melbourne were from a few weeks ago and I profited because I backed against them since.
Interested in your thoughts

Just looked at the TV guide. This week, Channel 10 in Qld are going to show Friday night's game at 10:50 and Saturday night's game at 9:30. Again, it's obvious they don't want to take on Rugby League finals which are all going to be live this year.

Rabbitz.Did you watch the whole of Hackett's race?
Actually that's a poor example because he won by a small margin.
Someone told me the enjoyment is in watching the team's skills in beating top opposition.
Well I don't like seeing Mike Tyson (when he was hot),pummelling the b'jesus out of the opposition.
Give me an even competition anyday.
You want to see skills,go watch them train!

It is a shame that Melbourne lost for the reason that it is a shame that a team had to lose.Might have said something similar about the Dons had the Demons got up.
Perhaps not on account of Essendon is a very secure club with a strong future.
I won on the game.Didn't worry me who the Cats play next week.

Out bike riding with number one son Rabbitz.
Didn't see the game, but listened to it.
Can't think of any reason the result would be any different if they held the match again next week.

And Mug Punta. You want confidence.I'll give you confidence.
I'm on a roll!
Facts and figures seem to indicate Sydney, but the Guts are talkin' and I'ma list'nin'.
Sometimes you just got to go with the flow.

Queenslande television execs think most people prefer Everyone loves Raymond to St Kilda or Swans, could be on to something there, but seriously every game should be live
they can put Everyone loves Dickhead back to back after the Gfinal for all i care

Rabbitz, I wouldn't mind so much if it was a new program or some other important event that they were putting on instead of the Football. But it never is. It's always some repeat or a program with no importance at all. On Friday night, they're showing Raymond, Raymond and Oprah, and on Saturday it's an old Arnie Movie that's been on many times before.

I think the reason is that after channel 9 & 10 took over from channel 7,they decided to share the games,so theyve thought if we put both on at the same time people who like both would be annoyed so QLD,being a bit more of a rugby league state thought league was more important(even though everyone knows that the AFL team of the millenium comes from brisbane)
It probably wont change so here is a
solution. Tape the Friday game dont,t leave the house read a newspaper, listen to the radio ,talk to your friends at all on Saturday, then about 5:30 satdee night play the tape with a few coldies then tape the rugby league double feature over the top
then watch the satdee night AFL,and then stay home etc on Sunday then play the rugby league sundee night>
Easy when you think about it
Cheers

too cold too wet
I play golf in shorts all year round
In melbourne you would need to be indoors by the heater putting on the carpet to manage that

Rabbitz, it doesn't matter which commercial channel has the AFL rights in Qld. They simply won't put it up against a Rugby League game unless the Lions are playing. Channel 7 used to show night games at 11:30, so nothing much has changed. Believe me, if commercial channels thought it would rate, they WOULD put it on in prime time.

Channel 10 has now moved Friday night's game to 9:40, the same as Saturday. Wow, what's the difference? You still have to stay up till after midnight to watch the whole thing. No thanks! Anyway, I really don't want to watch games that aren't live.

I hate betting those sort of options.
Your right, most of them are a dead set lottery.
I'd back the swans most marks, they will play a chip and run sort of game and will hold onto the ball a lot and should have heaps of uncontested marks.
If you get any goalkicking options send 'em through and i'll give you my thoughts.

you reckon the swans will have a lot more marks, specials ?, what about the other game, not as clear cut then.

mug punta
10th September 2004, 11:26 AM
Not certainties, a good chance. Probly best to leave alone. Had a look at official AFL stats and the Saints had 300 more marks over the whole season. They were playing incredible footy the first 10 games of the year and have levelled off since.
Dont really like the other bets. Its a raffle. Maybe saints first score. The swans have been pretty slow starters this year and usually take a few minutes to get going.
Again, im much more confident on goalkickers and have a great record so far this year.

Five years ago,Essendon had the best football team ever put together.
But the salary cap put paid to that and players year by year drifted to other teams.
What I don't understand is how come Brisbane can still keep their players together after 4 years,in fact gain some of Essendons best, and still stay under the salary cap.

sportznut
12th September 2004, 10:57 AM
Well, I'm sure Mug Punta will say something like "$600000", but the fact of the matter is that quite a few of the Lions players are staying right where they are because they simply want to play for this team rather than go somewhere else just for the money. Some members of the team have taken pay cuts and a lot of the players could definitely make more money if they went to another team. But why would they want to go. Anybody that goes to a team just for the money isn't the sort of player you want to have.

moeee
12th September 2004, 11:08 AM
This could be a good idea.
Include the coach in the salary cap!
