England Soccer is confusing this year. First there's the English Premier League of course, but this year there's also something with the grand title of the 'English Football League Championship'. Unless you followed it closely you'd have no idea that the second one is the less important competition.

I guess if you didnt follow soccer you could get confused, i follow most sports, except BASEBALL and ICE HOCKEY, cant get enthused in them for some reason

Close but no cigar
Stoke notched up a win in the last 5 mins .Not unexpected though a lot of goals get scored in the last 10 mins (the sweedish game went that way) .Still a profit's a profit
Bets 2
Wins 1

hey floyd... u should have asked me about the mighty potters (that is stokes nickname back home) that is my home town and my beloved soccer team. Stoke city are a really really good bet for top six on betfair if you can get it gents, i knwo 11/1 was matched for 200pounds sterling yesterday....

here is my champs league bets for wednesday evening europe time...
lay Juventus (away at AJAX) at anything around 6/5 2.44
lay liverpool (home to Monaco) at around 1.95 because they are consistently the most over rated team in england
and last but not least
over 2.5 goals in man united versus lyon match at about 2.44. I think united will score but the way they are playing... they could let in a goal or two...
good luck people

16th September 2004, 09:26 AM
well with some luck and a little trading i came out about evens on the night... thank god. But i was sure uniteds defense would get me a few goals in their game. As you say gents, you cant win them all.
i still think liverpool are vastly overrated mind you and shall be against them in the euro games.. but as much as it pains me to say it.. there is 4.0 available against united next monday and that doesnt look a bad bet although rio is back for united...

Cant trade here "in play" Well I can but have to do it by phone(not allowed to do it via net) with a minimum $50 bet and to be quite honest thats a bit rich for me at the moment to be trading back and forth . But I intend to struggle on and take more of an interest in whats going on over there.
Im sticking with the draws for the time being because there seems to be a bit of value there at B/F.Then when Im confident enough to stick my kneck out ill start backing a few teams to win .I was doin some laying towards the end of last season and ended up doin ok (more by good luck than good management I think)But I find you end up giving big overs a lot of the time. And I got caught with Real and Juventas a couple times .But as I said before theres plenty of action so its all go till may .

I see there are more and more options now than before, a interseting one is the arsenal game:
ARSENAL $1.25 to win
ARSENAL $1.28 to score 1st
What would you rather back ?
sportznut
17th September 2004, 07:34 AM
I'd much rather back Arsenal to win. Any team can fluke a goal in the first few minutes against the top sides, but over 90 minutes, class usually shows through.

17th September 2004, 07:37 AM
Having said that, Arsenal will still score first on most occasions though.

I watched the fullham v arsenal game and it was 0-0 till 62nd minute and 9 minutes later it was 0-3 ....I was tempted to back them(but didnt) they payed better than $1.60

That option is on all games and there are some good prices offered, but i only watch a couple of games a week, is there a team that scores the quickest or 1st more than others ?

Floydy,long time no talk to
With this betting on draws caper
I looked at this weeks games on paper(Finland) and saw for 6 games there were two draws from six but the return was 7.75 units for 6 units invested.I suppose you could eradicate some of the games where one side looks a likely winner, reducing your outlay
not a bad idea, takes a bit off pressure off
cheers

Hi Rabs how are ya .....didnt know you got the Finnish tabloids at Shaparova Is... are you far from Helsinki...........Yeah well I dont use a system but the trick is to get the strike rate of draws down from about 1/3.7 to below 3 or thereabouts and then you have to get the better prices . Then its not much better than a break even . I actually had 39bets this week for a return of 43 which is a pot of about 10% .Whether I can Keep that up or not I dont Know only time will tell ,,,,,,,By the way Rabs ROOOOOAAAAAAAAAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
