sportznut
30th September 2004, 06:35 AM
Comp Rules:

$50 worth of bets each week. Win bets only, but you can back more than 1 horse per race. You can either have five $10 races, or three $10 races and one $20 race. Money from scratchings to be carried over and bet the following week. Unitab dividends used for results. Everyone is allowed to miss one week of the comp without incurring a penalty. After that you lose $50 for every raceday you miss. There will be a feature race each week that everyone must tip in.

This week's feature race: THE EPSOM HANDICAP

I'm assumimg still rule that ALL selections must be posted before start of the first race that you have a selection in.

sportznut
30th September 2004, 09:11 AM
Well, that is certainly preferable and it makes it a lot simpler to see what everyone has picked. However, Puntz has been doing it a bit differently the last two weeks.

I guess it's okay to not post all your selections at once, but you must make it very clear which horses you're tipping and you must make new posts instead of simply editing your old ones.

getting sloppy but you're the boss.

sportznut
30th September 2004, 09:24 AM
I'm not really the boss. Anyway, as I said it would certainly be preferable if everyone puts all their tips in before their first race. What does everybody think? Do you think we should make it a hard and fast rule?

Thought it was an original rule. Majority seem to be sticking to it. Pity the one trying to reconcile and audit (posting times) if we all lodge 4 or 5 scattered posts

sportznut
30th September 2004, 09:48 AM
Yeah, I guess you're right. It was an original rule to put all your tips in before your first race. The only exception really is that you can add tips later if you have scratchings. And it certainly would be a nightmare trying to work through all the selections if we did it any other way. So please disregard what I said earlier and everybody stick to posting ALL your selections prior to your first race.

Well here's a rule for you Sportznut.

Consider the consequences if everyone decided to go against a rule.

Rules are there to make things easier.

sportznut
30th September 2004, 09:05 PM
Yep. Spot on. And it certainly is much easier if everyone posts ALL their tips prior to their first race, so that's what we'll stick to.

If I was influenced by your tips Mo,I would have lost a fortune on St Kilda
No I follow the horses pretty well and think that Makybe Diva will go well, and Grand Armee is classes above,I'm looking at taking Port in premiership betting if they ever get out a bit,Brisbane are a bit roarless but will still be competitive, next year.
You know I'm competitive so lets hope I can run you down in this tipping comp
By the way there is a GODOLPHIN horse possibly coming for the cup which I,ve had a bit of a nibble on called RAZKALLA to be ridden by Frankie Dettori,It races today in England and if it runs well will definetly be coming its still around 20-25/1 on most markets,I got it at 30/1,have a small bit even $10
cheers

Hello everyone,

it seems that there has been a massive downpour on poor old Randwick over the last few days and the Epsom meeting may be in jeopardy and HEAVY track conditions if it goes ahead. For tipping purposes I suggest we all still put in a tip for the Epsom and if the meeting is cancelled we treat all Rankwick selections as scratchings

sorry if that is hard to read, looked perfect when i wrote it up.

A good bet for those interested in the AFL betting will be Byron Shammer, for the brownlow. still 18 and already a proven vote getter after this year, and only playin a handful of games. should be good odds and if plays the whole season a definate chance.

Seeker11,

If the meeting goes ahead, I'm sure it will be a real bog track and if they can't go ahead, then I guess we'll all just have more money to play with next week.

Where you going Rabbitz?
Since when was ten bucks a small bet?
Plus I am only betting on value selections.
What price do you consider RAZLUKKA should be at Oh! wise Premiership selector extraordinaire?

Randwick is a huge chance of being called off. I suggest changing to the Turnbull as the Feature race (better race anyway).

Yeah, that would be a good idea except that it would be a disadvantage for the people that have already posted their tips and won't get back on in time to change them. Most people have included tips for the Turnbull anyway. I think to be fair to everyone, we should really leave it as it is and if Randwick is washed out, then those tips will simply be treated like scratchings.

What does everyone else think?

Fair enough. not fair if those guys don't log in again. The Epsom it is.

Sydney racing is a joke, average fields and crap tracks. Not to mention the blackout that lasted for a couple of months.
Melbourne doesn't even have a Group 1 tomorrow but their races are better than Sydney.

Goddamn.What a wipeout!
Does this mean I need to pull down my strides and do a lap of Flemington?
Or does the scratching amongst my selections let me off the hook?

sportznut
2nd October 2004, 05:41 PM
A few people doing laps today.

My strategy of looking for value is simply not working at all. Would have been far better off simply tipping Alinghi, Tingirana and Fields Of Omagh. Didn't pay much but they sure paid more than the ones I picked!!!
