Fred Kersley has confirmed this morning that Northerly has been retired from racing.

Heat was discovered in his previously injured leg after trackwork and Kersley has decided not to take any risks with him.

1.Mummify seems to have found a bit of form if going by last week means anything
2.Grand Armee seems to be unders since his melbourne form isnt that great (actually is consists of 15/15 down the Flemington straight and 16/18 in last years Caulfield cup)

Being on track saturday and viewing the parade ring will be a huge factor on if i have a bet. If starcraft is calm and relaxed i will have no problems taking the short odds.

Good run from Starcraft in that he was about 13 lengths behind Grand Armee there at one stage and got that back to less than a length on the line after running up the behind of Braeloch as it dropped out I can tell you now Kings Chapel and Grand Armee will not beat this horse in the Cox Plate I don't what else there is but I would not be backing either of them to beat him.
