After sorting through numerous race meets and counting the number of placings gained using either Late Mail picks or Radio TAB 1st pick i found the differences to be minimal. Here are my findings:

RADIO TAB - 87/154 = 56.49%
LATE MAIL - 86/154 = 55.84%

(PLACES/No of RACES) ---- (DATE)

RADIO TAB
10/16 ---- 22/10

09/17 ---- 21/10

12/18 ---- 20/10

10/20 ---- 17/10

06/10 ---- 16/10 (Caulfield - 4 WIN/2 PLA)

07/16 ---- 13/10

12/20 ---- 09/10

11/18 ---- 06/10

10/19 ---- 02/10

LATE MAIL
10/16 ---- 22/10

12/17 ---- 21/10

09/18 ---- 20/10

09/20 ---- 17/10

06/10 ---- 16/10 (Caulfield - 5 WIN/1 PLA)

08/16 ---- 13/10

09/20 ---- 09/10

12/18 ---- 06/10

11/19 ---- 02/10

Feel free to draw whatever conclusions you want, however it seems that both Radio TAB and Late Mail are both moderately successful (over 50% strike rate)

Any suggestions for place systems?

Hi nashy,

Do you have any stats for place picks when both the Late Mail and TAB tips select the same horse?

Just a few results when both Late Mail and TAB radio picks are the same....

RADIO TAB & LATE MAIL (Same Pick)

4/4 ---- 22/10 (Ballarat & Mackay Races = 16 races)

Results = 4 Races 4WIN 0PLA

1/3 ---- 21/10 (Cranbourne & Ipswich = 17 Races)

Results = 3 Races 1WIN 1PLA 1UNP

1/7 ---- 20/10 (Geelong & Murray Bridge = 18 Races)

Results = 7 Races 1WIN 3PLA 3UNP

3/8 ---- 16/10 (Randwick & Caulfield = 19 Races)

Results = 8 Races 3WIN 3PLA 2UNP

22 Races = 9 WINS (40.9%) : 7 PLACES (31.8%) : 6 UNP (27.3%)

I wouldn't trust this system for win betting...not atleast on saturdays

Word of warning. For some reason the Unitab website sometimes makes bad mistakes when listing the RadioTab tipsters selections. An example was today in the last race at Mackay where tipster Steve Hawkins picked 1-3-12-2 but on the Unitab website, they had 13-12-2. That's a big difference because 1 was 2nd fav and ended up winning whereas 13 was an outsider and finished unplaced.

Thread subject and initial posts relate to place betting, not win betting. What's the connection with win betting Shaun, am I missing something?

Sportznut, where do you find the radio TAB tips from, because if thats the case with the tabonline site then i wouldn't mind viewing them from another site.

just looking at the results above 22 races 9 wins 40.9% win s/r 16 places 72% s/r this win % is very high and would be classed as a very good strike rate so i did some checking and found that the above strike rate did not hold up on saturdays does any one have the ability to check this deeper with better results

Nashy, the sort of mistake I mentioned doesn't happen a lot, but it DOES happen. A couple of times in the last month that I know of, and both times the horse that should have been listed on top has actually won. One of them was a special.

Sorry, but I think the only way to be 100% certain of getting the right tips is to hear the previews on RadioTab. "Radiotab Tips" are simply the selections of the racecallers they use at each meeting. I think Sport927 use basically the same racecallers as Radiotab, so if you can listen to them, then you're right. You can also hear Radiotab and Sport927 on the net.

I have found ,betting for the place ,that the SR improves if one restricts the first selection to races where the selection has had 2+ career starts & is in fields of 8-12 runners only.

72% placings is not too shabby, perhaps taking them for a place when they are NOT favourite might be in order?

Does anyone have the capacity to track this or give a decent amount of past results?

not sure of long term but i find the prices are a little low....and it works best with fields 8 to 12 i guess you could use that then throw in a price filter

Just analysed Saturday 23rd Oct, going through all Saturday gallops using these rules:

1. The horse must have been tipped by both Radio TAB and Late Mail
2. Field must have 8 - 12 horses after scratchings
3. Must be paying $1.5+ 2 minutes prior to jump

Results show that on Saturday the 23rd (Cox Plate Day) after twelve selections there were 8 placings (2 Wins, 6 Places) therefore a 66% strike rate with the total profit being ~+4%

Not too flash, S/R good but not much profit
However, Saturdays are normally tough days to pick further research might find it a handy system for wednesdays and sundays etc..

If you use those rules but add only if 100 rated things might improve slightly...problem is dividends are low so you might have to use a stop when you are in front approach

nashy,

can you do me a favour and run these rules please?

1. The horse must have been tipped by both Radio TAB and Late Mail
2. Must NOT be TAB favourite.
