Kyenton r 7 no 1 'Approach The Bench' if even money or over. Sat outside the tearaway leader last start when moved about six lengths clear of field at Ballarat, still surged to the lead but was nailed in the last bound. Drawn 8 after scratchings. Will Win.

Well my last one wasn't the good thing i thought come second but i think i may have one tommorow. Bendigo rc 6 no. 2 opio miss is a nice mare who ran well for fourth behind Butten Shaw last start, i think she has a definate class edge on her rivals here and from barrier 4 will be extremely hard to beat IMO.

maverick1993
9th November 2004, 11:57 PM
Can't see anything beating Fashion thunder in the 7th at Doomben. a class act .

In your race Mr Ed i like that Scarlet Scene i have her in my black book with a comment saying she worked home nicely would appreciate more distance and couldnt get a clear run.I'm worried about the state of the track though. But you are right Opio miss should handle the track and should be fitter after her last run.

Bendigo R10.
Party Pie. G4.
won 2 from 4 starts.
Resumed at Sale with 57kg., C2 1200m., btn. 3.4L.
Drops to 54.5kg here.
Last time in won C1 Seymour over this distance with 54.5kg.on a dead track.
Won mdn. on slow track.

Not as confident as you maverick1993. Certainly the one to beat but expect will be at very short odds. Will also have a little saver on Monte Cavallo and Banka Buck.

Nice tip Mr Ed...poor old Scarlet scene doesnt seem to able to get a crack at them.
nice trifecta divie though

Thanks Mav. It could have been a huge result if Diamond Jake had won. I had $50 on the OPio DJ all up and a quaddie 2/1/1,3,4/3,4,12 5 times cost $45. I'm predicting it cost me about 4 grand for Diamond Jake losing, damn it.

Great race wasn't it PunterSteve..great ride on Monte ..
Got a huge win with Blue Lyric today ..shame she didnt get up when i had her in the tipping comp but at 40/1 i'm not complaining
gave alot of it back on fashion thunder though but a good day just the same.

Werribee r 7 no. 3 Waiterimu has trialed extremely well over the last month or so and looks set for a winning return. I'm positive this is a city class horse, has the best jockey on i think will easily account for this lot from the 1 barrier. We also know he handles the wet. I am very scared of the price however as Shane has it as a special and it is the 'Late Mail'.

Good Point. I don't think many if any people on this forum use my tips. I just like putting them up to take kudos if they get the choccies. I have used some of Mavs tips from this thread and they have been succesful so i thought i would try repay the favour.

maverick1993

Poor old waiterimu...tragic
i had Discord in that race and he was stopped when waiterimu fell ...one to follow for sure.
I watched the video Imagele and Party Pie was most unlucky yesterday. hit the line strongly.
I had one of those days today couldnt find a winner My big bet of the day AquaD'or in Ipswich fell in for 3rd which wasnt to bad though. This is a horse i nearly bought last year so i've been watching him closely. Pay to follow him next start if the race suits.

This has been a good thread so far for tips with most of then atleast placing.
Keep up the good work guys.

Waiterimu RIP

But beware owners always think there horse is going to win.

Thanks for commenting on my tip. Might give me some encouragement to try again.
Pity I didn't believe the Ozeform ratings given to Rapid Chess for his runs in N.S.W.
"Raw" ratings taking weights into account for yesterday's event at Werribee were, Rapid Chess 104, Pearcedale 101, Waiterimu 100, Silver seas 100.5.
Rapid Chess had this race won on the home turn.

Mr ed
12th November 2004, 08:53 PM
I agree i dont think Waiterimu ever looked like a winner, even though his form says otherwise it didnt look like he was handling the bog. Its tragic for the connections as he looked a really nice horse. Oh well back to the tapes to try find another. Good Luck all tommorow i'll just say now its pissing down so will be at least slow.

Mr ed
12th November 2004, 09:39 PM
i hate Sandown so i try not to bet to much there, a little on holding if heavy. In looking for other venues i looked at Eagle Farm and absolutely cant see anything beating Star of Florida, $5.50 in the WP i think is a joke maybe $2.50-$3.00 but i'll take that. He carries huge weights every time he starts so the 60kg is no worries at all, he'll simply be too quick for this lot. Any thoughts??

A very hard race Mr Ed. SOF loves to lead but so does Mt Gower and Masindor . So i dont think he'll get it his own way up front because most of these horses drop a heap of wieght as well. I'm hoping they go crazy up front and the swoopers can come into play. Horses like Sir Breakfast and Polygram. Tough to beat the star but he has shown before that if he is pressured he can drop off its just that there's hardly any horses around that can keep up with him.
Interesting runner is Au Chocolate he was scratched during the week in a much easier race. Rex Lipp must be very happy with him.

purpleheart68
13th November 2004, 07:50 AM
You are all dropping off the best weighted horse in the race which has also earned over a million bucks in prizemoney, and that horse is PEMBLETON.Each way all day for mine. The Star will not get his own way up front, and the 60kgs will sort him out in the last furlong,IMO.

maverick1993
13th November 2004, 10:52 AM
Not much i'm to excited about today. I like Milady Clang Br4 No 5 who has been hitting the line strongly and with seamer aboard should be hard to beat. Regina's Best to add some nice value in the tri.
Also think King's Arch will be hard to beat Ar7.1 was very strong last start and will be even stronger today.
Good Luck all

Could be a day for lightweights in the slog up the Sandown straight on the heavy track.
Swiss Storm, resuming from a spell in the last of the day, could be value.
Loves the wet and has finished in the first fives 20 from 25 starts.

SANDOWN RACE 9

5 PRETTY PENNY result- 4th

I think she'll win! Likes this track, doesnt mind it wet. Needs some luck from Barrier 1 though. Hope the ground doesnt get too bad for the last race. I will be extremely dissapointed if she doesnt place.

darn she didnt move on in the straight, i lost.

Let me guess Mav, just missed the tri. That was a huge win by Star Of Florida. To be slowly away and then 3 wide in the breeze with 60kg, only got $2.35 but looks a good price considering the machine was odds on.

maverick1993
13th November 2004, 09:37 PM
Yep Mr Ed got Kitnat but didnt have Cord in the trifecta  also didnt have Raffin Glow in SOR race either Dam Polygram.
Frustrating day today with so much oportunity .I finished ahead but I've been backing my selection with the fields for awhile now and today because of the big fields i chickened out and missed a $20,000 trifecta. what makes it worse is the tri i did have the field in with Kings Arch payed nothing ...
Great win by SOR and Raw instinct today and a surprisingly healthy Treble payout.
The threads still picking winners guys
great idea Nashy

Sunshine Coast R6 No10 Tycoon Rose this horse gives her all and last week in a unsuitable race she gave it to the sprinters. In a race where there was no speed on she took off midrace because the jockey knew she wouldnt be able to sprint with them,,Tycoon rose still hung on to be only a couple off them. She's a backmarker that needs a bit of luck so i'm hoping her and Clanger bring each other into the race. This distance suits her and so does the dead track because she does have feet probs so the sting out of the ground suits.
I'm hoping she's in atleast double figure odds.
Good luck all

Hard to know what the price will be in relation to value, (tote odds currently $5-10) but I'm going for CEDAR TEE today, Ararat R7.
Won 2nd up last time in, handles the wet and placed behind Jakodae over 1700m. at Flemington prior to spelling.
For value, In the weakest C1 you would ever see, maybe KOOYONGKOOT, Benalla R5, is worth a try.
Placed in a C1 1600m Ballarat, Sept. 2003 with 56.5kg.
Was 2nd up from a spell that day as is today.

$4-70 for Cedar tee. Never got a cracker meself.
Took Cedar Tee to win, 2-3-8-9 for 2nd., field for 3rd. Trifecta- $403-90/ $1-00
That's the way I'm goin' lately.

Great day today guys. Thanks Imagele for Cedar tee . Yep nice return with Tycoon rose and she addded some good value to the tri.
She was ridden alot closer than usual today but with the track firming she did a great job.
Great win by Mr tambourine man ..shorter than i expected but a winner is a winner.
Now whats on tomorrow

I like Distorted Miss ,Kilmore Race5 No2. but think she's better on top of the ground so will be hoping the track improves.
In the 3rd i liked the run of Brief Eruption last start he really battled strongly after doing alot of work and he should be improved by the run. There will be support for the 9 and the 5 so i'm hoping he'll be good value.
I think i'll just concentrate on these 2 races and start looking at tomorrow.
Good Luck

Like the look of BONNIE JEAN Kil. R7. especially at the $6-00 quoted by Ray Huxley this morning.
Don't think she will be those odds though. Current TAB price, $3-70.
Won a 3yoF. mdn. 1200m. on the slow at geelong last time in.
Placed behind Solar Antiquity on the heavy at Ballarat prior to spelling.
Stewards queried the run last start when resuming and ridden by Taggart.
Trifecta could be the go with Fuchsia Lady, Bonnie Jean for 1st and 2nd, field for 3rd.

Certainly have a knack for jumping the wrong way.
Anchored Bonnie Jean in the quadrella for $16-00.
Saver trifecta with Fuchsia Lady to win, Bonnie Jean for 2nd, field for 3rd.
Where does Bonnie Jean finish?
You guessed it. 3rd.

Brief Eruption nearly got over the line. Didnt have a trifecta in that race because i thought the top 3 in betting were the only chances. In hindsight boxing them 20 times would of been the smart option.
can't win them all Imagele but we were close.

I Like Equilago Warrick farm Race6 No8 tomorrow. This horse was full of running behind Shepishir last start but was held up down the straight. The extra distance suits. Beadman is riding it tomorrow so i can't see it paying to much but should be atleast double figure odds...there is some promising horses in the race so who knows .

I promised myself that i would leave Rameka Mackay Race7 No4 alone after the bad luck she has had with me on her the last few starts but I'm doing it again ..she owes me ,,,I dont like the fact that she's droping back in distance but she's fit and likes the track.
Good Luck

Moe R1. VOUKEFALOS. A maiden racing in a weak C1.
Placed 4 times last prep. on wet tracks.
Moe R6. WOOD IN DEED. Could be some value.
Placed C2 Moe 2050m. April with 56kg. on a slow trk.
Placed in C3 at Ararat most recent run on the hvy.

maverick1993
16th November 2004, 05:57 PM
Well done guys !! Another winning day today  Good tip Real Deal
I knew i'd stop Rameka but she was fairly short and the fact she was dropping in distance ..not to much damage done..
Equilago was short but with Beadman winning four out of five races before hand i knew he was going to be. I got on early though but not early enough but a win is a win.
What was great today was the Sydney treble
The first two legs were easy and then i went wide in third and got it. My 2nd ever treble as i got the Brissie Treble on Saturday.
I've never been into doubles and trebles but i can see the value in them now especially if you have standout selections in them..
Now lets see whats happening tomorrow

Imagele
16th November 2004, 08:03 PM
Pleased you had a winning day Maverick.
I reckon Voukefalos was a bit stiff.
On the rails coming to the turn. Had to hook 5 wide to make a run. Failed by a head.

Re your comment regarding the value in trebles.
I saw the value in quaddies some time back when I landed a $3500-00 div. for an outlay of around $12-00.
Since that time, I've had 3 winners and a placing on about 40 occasions.
Unfortunately they don't pay out on that.

Ballarat Rc 10 No. 15 Rotational. Is a nice 3 y o who won a narrowly Class 2 at that track a few weeks ago. Had been nominated for some nice races through the spring the last one being the Sandown Guineas, he presumably never run because of the wet tracks. This means nothing until you look at his most astute trainer in Mayfield-Smith he would not have entered if the horse was no chance. Takes on some tough older horses here such as Pheonix Express and Approach the Bench who will be tough to run down. But should get a lovely run just off the pace and prove hard to beat from barrier 5.

maverick1993
16th November 2004, 11:29 PM
I really like Courts In Session tomorrow Hawksbury Race7. This horse fought on well first up last start and is now up to his more favoured distance and drops weight,,can't see it paying much though.

Scarlet Scene is running again tomorrow and i'll be on again but beware this horse always seems to find traffic.

Good Luck guys ..

Hard going at Ballarat today.
R4 #12 SHOW PRINCESS.
Won a maiden this track in Feb. by 7L.
All but 2 runs since have been on wet ground.
Last chance to show that run was not an abberation.
($36-00 into $11-80 at the jump. din't give a yelp)

R7 #8 LE BUCHERON.
Fresh horse on the scene. Wide barrier a bit of a worry.
(stone motherless)

R8 #8 LEGALLY ORANGE.
Had 3 runs since resuming. Placed C2 bendigo this dist. last prep. with 57kg.
Finished 2.4L. astern of Dowry, SA Oaks, May.

Wipe out today.
Some of the place results at Ballarat make form study a bit of a farce.

Courts In session gave me a heart attack coming up the straight but showed great fight to win.
Scarlet Scene did the usual and turned a beautiful run into disaster..I think the jockey was worried he'd get boxed in he pannicked alittle and eased back and around and lost to much momentum. thrice bitten thrice shy now.
Bad Luck Mr ed with rotational he looked like he had a good run but got a alittle lost in the straight..he looked beaten but still battled on which is a good sign.

Have you noticed how difficult it seems to be for 3yo's to win against older horses this time of year.
I tend to avoid them at least until FEB-MARCH.
Roadhog was another example today beaten at a short quote.

I'm still in shock it started favorite, a three year old who won a C2 by a whisker jumping up to C4 i thought i would get at least 8 or 9 dollars. It really shits me because last start i had a major go at Approach The Bench in a race i thought it was unbeatable in, had every chance and ran a shocker. Today i back against him and he runs like a superstar. I think i need to be more forgiving like you with Scarlet Scene Mav and not sack horses from one bad run. Your right Imagele in handicaps, under WFA they are extremely well suited this time of year but today like Rotational had .5 kilo less then the winner after his claim that is a joke. I think he may have been cut off from a run by the winner on the inside Mav but he did stick to the task nicely and i think he is a horse to follow.

Mr ed
17th November 2004, 11:21 PM
Mooney Valley rc 5 no. 6 Subella is a very good sprinting mare from adelaide who hasn't had much luck when racing down here. She was heavily specked at odds during the flemington carnival from 81 into 41 and ran a terrific 5th behind Sensational Spot, she has Oliver aboard tommorow (dont know whether that is a help or hinderance nowadays) but with only 53.5 kg's she must be a huge chance against this moderate field.

Regarding Approach the Bench.
It seems the Smerdon horses grow another leg at Ballarat.
Written Journey, Written Habit were also impressive winners.
The only one I was on, Show Princess, came in for solid support, ($36-00-$11-80). Didn't fire a shot.

18th November 2004, 11:35 AM
Radetzsky March was so impressive the other day i cant go past him. Canterbury R4 No3 .

For some value Maewest Pinjarra R6 No7 is a horse with some talent. Had the wide barrier last start and still won. This is alot harder but should be improved.

Poor lot at Hamilton today.
Maybe R9 #4 DIAL ZERO.
Placed 1st. up last time in, Edenhope C2. 1200m.
This race looks as weak as they come.

Sworn off night meetings.
Horses and jockeys get lost in the lights.

(Nothin' to crow about today. Dial Zero beaten into 4th. place by a 9yo. which had prev. won 1 from 37.
They certainly know how to beef up a trifecta up the bush.)

I'm going to have to back my namesake. Actually looks like it has a good show. Usually i'm alittle nervous with a horse first up over 1500m but he's had 2 barrier trials to get him fitter and Gai usually places them well.
we should all jump on board.
hey sporty remember when i said i'd leave rameka alone ?? I couldn't help myself and had alittle on her and stopped her yet again. I'm doing the same to Scarlet scene of late as well. But i'm leaving them both alone next start so they should bolt in.

Yeah, but every man and his dog seemed to be on Rameka this time. Even Steve Hawkins made it a special and that's a lot of weight for the poor horse to carry.

Sorry again lads i think i should be posting on a tip the favorites who run second thread. Young Benbows 3kg is what cost us i think. Hate Sandown dont bet there. My only bet for the day is the good thing in Perth, already had a decent crack at the $1.75 available on fixed for Ellicorsam, i dont generally bet odds on but when they look this good i have no problems buying the totes money.

Had a crap day today...not many days i get a first4 and still find myself behind...

I like Sam Sun A song tomorrow and the Little Shrek looks good as well in Sydney..
Is it just me or does Eagle farm look really hard tomorrow..doing my ratings over and over and still finding no real standouts..
i think theres going to be a few upsets..
good luck all

My tips for today

Melbourne race 7 Force Appollo
Should get some nice odds with this one. Hes been racing in much better company than this I feel, and after seeing the amount of ground he made up last start against great is great, im sure he will be there abouts.
Sydney race 5 our highlander.
Up in class but drops weight, extra trip shouldnt be a problem. The way it won its only race indicates to me this thing will win a few races..

Good luck to all.

Well i knew they'd be some upsets in Brissie but couldnt find them. I pick the shortest 2 winners of the day. Another struggle today so i'm hoping for a better day tomorrow.

Looking for some value today with Regina's Best ScR8 No6 this horse ran in a class6 last week and ran on well. Saun Dywer must have an high opinion of this horse as he usually places them very well. The top weight is the danger but with good speed in the race she might come over the top of them.
Chestnut queen R4 Strathalbyn No11 should appreciate being on top of the ground she ran a huge race first up and if she gets the lead she'll be hard to run down. The only other i rate in that race is Red wine Bid.
Good luck

Thanks Sportnut I really needed that win after just missing with Redwine Bid ...Nice trifecta aswell...
That Paper Kings came up in my black book and i totally ignored it so i thought it wasnt going to be my day today.
I just love that dwyer...he's got me some nice priced winners in the past.

King's touch comes up in blackbook tomorrow and looks the class runner of the race. But when doing the ratings Give Way rates very highly drops a heap of weight and has good form around Pimpala player ect..King's touch also has had a couple of freshens which makes me think maybe he's got some problems..
will wait till the market tomorrow but the more i look at Give way the more i like it..
Distorted Miss is running again tomorrow and i'm giving her another chance..depending on the track of course..Umeda and snip the doctor rate highly so will look at some exotics...
good luck all

Dont worry about it Rasun my namesake maverick ran last on Saturday..
Hows this for form study..this girl i know backed she's gun today..her lucky number is 13 jumped from barrier 13 and there is 13 letters in the horses name and jockey's name.
She won over $1000 dollars..
Its hard to take when you do all this study and end up behind for the day..
Give way was ridden poorly today the jockey sat 3 sometimes 4 wide the whole way...but atleast he'll be value next time around.
Distorted Miss and D moor have been scribbled out of my Christmas card list.

Rameka is running tomorrow !!! and dont worry guys because i promised i'd leave him alone...He'll win for sure as he doesnt have to beat much and the distance suits...he's been up a long time which makes me think they will retire him shortly so its probably his last prep..
I'll save my money for Sweet Tiffany in the 8th at Scone...She's been good to me and i think will go well...she'll be hard to run down from the good alley..

Sportznut !! maybe you can answer this question ...Looking at race 4 up your way tomorrow Gold Tusmani is to be ridden by W cullen and thurles P cullen...P cullen has riddden Gold Tusmani in his last couple of races and performed very well... i'm trying to figure out why he has jumped off Gold onto Thurles ..does he have an association with Bob Purcell ??
or does this nicely bred Thurles have some ability we didnt see in his first run..
or maybe its just the bad alley ??

Peter Cullen has a great association with Bob Purcell, maverick1993. Top 50 in fact. Combo has a win strike rate of just under 20% over last 12 months. Last count 86 starts for 17 wins. Peter has also ridden Thurles at his only 2 starts

Have had a look at the Yarra Glen card for today.
Two horses that might represent some value are in R7.
Nikki Burke who produced the Final Card mare She's Gun to win 1st up yesterday has DIAMOND ORCHID resuming in this race.(same sire). Placed 1st up C2 bendigo 1100m. last time in.
JUST RYAH also resumes. Won 1, placed 3 from 4 last time in on wet trks.
Placed 1st. up at 1st. preparation on a good track at kyneton.
GOOD LUCK.

Just missed with Diamond Orchid. Landed the exacta though,($56-00/$1-00) which was some consolation.
If Diamond Orchid follows the pattern of a lot of Final Card horses, then it's first run from a spell might be it's best.

Do you have any basis for your tip other than the fact it was entered in a Saturday harder race and hit its head? In its only 2 previous outings it started at 33-1 and 110-1 suggesting to me the horse has no ability. By the way your other tip was scratched. At Canterbury race 6 today Sleeplessinseattle will appreciate the drop in distance and has been working the house down. May be short but is the horse to beat with the topweight looking the only danger

Sandown R6 #8 ALHAZEN.
Resuming from a spell. Won first 3 starts last time in commencing with a Cranbourne C3 over 1300m and culminating with a C6 win at Sandown over 1600m carrying 54kg.
A bit of depth in this field so might be some value.

What a good little race me mate Rotational has been entered in tommorow, only a small field but there looks plenty of talent. Rockococo has a faces a big drop in class from racing the likes of Binding and Fastnet Rock and he is clearly the horse to beat, Written Habit beat the promising King Costa well on Ballarat cup day but does drop in distance, and Processor looked a nice type winning at bendigo not long back. I really think Rockococo may be over the odds tommorow and if he is say $3.50 or $4.00 i will be backing him for sure but with my luck Rotational will probably walk in.

Rc 4 No. 6 at Sandown tommorow, a horse called Xaab ran very well when second in a maiden race at Seymour a fortnight ago. He has a jump in class tomorrow but does get some weight relief from the race winners. He looked like he was grinding towards the end of the 1400 but he still got very close to the winner, and i thought his next start would be at least over a mile but i think the Sandown circuit with its long uphill straight will suit him down to the ground. He's drawn to get a gun run in three and will be very strong at the end of the 1300.

Too many lookers. Not enough contributers.
Some of the tips a bit skinny odds wise as well.

Forgot to add. -The 1st day I stopped posting, Got Command and Conquer at around $21-00.
Always the way isn't it.
I wouldn't have reminded anyone about this other than that I didn't get a cracker off it me'self... Been sulkin' ever since.
Anchored Party Pie in the quadrella. (had the other 3 winners)
Took a trifecta with Command and Conquer - Party Pie to win. Along came Whistling Gypsy into 3rd. place at about $75-00 the win.
Did I have Whistling Gypsy in my places?.
Not on your sweet Nellie.
Trifecta paid around $1200-00/$1-00.
Quadrella with Command and Conquer paid around $1500-00/$1-00.
Such is life as a punter.

Value bets for the day
Toowoomba Race2 10 Hoo Hooks..always goes well at the track and has been racing in way harder company..

Taos Pleasure ..adelaide Race7 No 6 ...good run last start and ignore his 2 previous..should get a nice run from the barrier..

interesting to see Uncle Shamos down in Sydney against the hot shots Red Oog and Sam Sung A Song....southerners never rate the Brissie horses (Eg Starcraft first start was at 50/1 and Courts in Session) we all know up here that from barrier 1 if they let the uncle lead he'll be hard to run down..
great race with even Britts best a good chance..probably the race of the day..
