Considering the amount of big priced winners that always appear over the carnival I was just wondering what is the biggest pay out you have had on a longshot mine was a race in Tasmania a couple of years ago I think a horse by the name of Silver Laser got up paying $110 for the win and about $17 for the place I only had $5 E/W on it but still a very nice pay out I have had quite a few around the $30-$40 mark but the only other one that I can remember is Via De Lago earlier this year I had $5 E/W on him and he paid about $67 for the win can't remember the place odds.

It depends. If you're talking about horses which I've backed because I actually thought they could win, then I think it might be $33.40 on Rue The Saint in the Toowoomba Cup just last week. There could be one higher than that but I can't recall it.

However, if you're talking about horses which I've only backed because they were selections for systems of mine, then it's about $165 on a horse in Perth last year and I didn't give it a hope in hell.

A horse by the name of Hayley's Belle trained by Bob Thompsen won on New Years day about 15 years ago and paid $120+win and $24 place i had been following it every since it's first race can'tremember how much i won...but i remember taking in extra 2 weeks off work.....i used to take Parlys i once got a 4 horse parly up for a half unit E/W got back over $500 wasn't a big win in terms of money but to get the four winners when it counted was good

I've been backing horses for a month or so, so the biggest odds I've won at was Dandy Kid, paying 14.40 for the win. I had $5 for the win so all up $72

I also backed Fifeshire yesterday who ran second, paying somewhere in the vicinity of $8. I'm not sure as I havn't collected yet.

I had Fox Helios at $101 in a maiden race at Murray Bridge about 18 months ago.

In 1998 i think it was, i had Shattered Circle which was paying $140 for the win in Adelaide, i backed it cause i genuinely thought it would win because in its recent races it was racing against another horse called Power Plan which would bolt away and lead by huge amounts and Shattered Circle would always be second a few lengths away from the rest of the field and them 2 would always fight out the race. However this was a listed or G3 race, much above the races they had been contesting hence the odds, but since Power Plan was in the race as well i thought the same thing might happen and took both of them in a Exacta and backed Shattered Circle E/W.

Anyway everything was going according to plan Power Plan lead by about 20 lengths with Shattered Circle a few lengths ahead of the rest, but the problem was Power Plan started to stop earlier then usual allowing Shattered Circle to get to the front a bit to early, but as they ran down the straight nothing was making ground until 100m out when bloody Star Binder flew out of the pack and nabbed him on the line.
