Hi I not a big tennis fan but im taking this punt on. Im going Hewitt at the odds. Safin can play up and down on the day but hewitt never gives in.

Safin sucks.I lost too much money on Safin a while back. Hewitt gives it all he gots. But I reckon he will lose this match.

I have money on Safin. I've seen Hewitt play the last couple of nights and he has been very ordinary. He had a lot of trouble against French young gun Monfils and last night he was having a very tough time of it against Massu before he retired hurt.

If you want some value for this evenings tennis multi up Safin and Mirnyi you should get around $3.40-$3.50

yeah safin costed me in previous bets. Recent tennis bets of mine have been disasterous so i only put a little on hewitt.

Safin should win.
Hewitt is a gutsy player and when he gets on a role he puts away his opponents quickly. But his last couple of matches as you mentioned have been a bit shabby so I tend to lean towards a Safin win. But its pretty tight.

I hope it is tight from an Aussie point of view, but from what I have seen this week it will tough for Hewitt. He has played 2 lesser players and they are the ones that have dominated the rallies with only Hewitt's grit and determination saving him.
Lleyton's only chance is to get a good start because Safin is mentally weak and finds it very tough to come back.

I think the best value bet of the night is Max Mirnyi. He was abslolutely magnificent against roddick last night and if he plays anything like that tonight Soderling wont have a chance.

I wish it wasn't as close as it was DC. Mirnyi should have won every set easily, but he made us work extremely hard for our money!!

Tonight I think Mirnyi will probably struggle a bit after such a tough match. Stepanek will be well rested after his win over youzhny so i think he should win.

In the other semi i cant see Safin losing, for 95% of last nights match he dominated Hewitt but lost it towards the end. Canas rolled his ankle last night and his win flattered him a little bit because lopez was so bad.

I feel that for Canas to beat Safin he would have to be 100% which he isnt right now, so if you are looking for a good thing tonight I would get on Safin.

ooo jeez Correct me if im wrong But Saffins form can go from blistering to Bulls**t in the twinkling of an eye I backed him a couple of times but jeez to my mind hes a risky conveyance My opinion maybe nowhere as informed as yours but thats the impression I get...cheers good luck whoever ya back

I agree about Safin, he should win.

I also think Stepanek can beat Mirnyi but it's closer than the odds suggest.

You are right mate his form can be a bit topsy turvy, but in his last two matches he has been very impressive and he has always performed very well at this tournament because the surface suits his game perfectly. I would be extremely surprised if he lost this match, but who knows what goes through Safin's mind!!

hahaha yeah well he strikes me as a bit of a loose wheel I like watching him play because he can be brilliant ..I cant keep up with all this sport these days as much as i like it that poor old brain cell will hold only so much info at one time

Go Safin!!!

Same here Floydy, when tennis finishes up for the season I am going to in a bit of trouble until it starts back up again because most of my focus has been on that and nothing else really. Starting to get back into NBA, but that is just tocover the gap until tennis starts again.

Anyways my tip for tonight is Safin in straight sets. Safin was pretty impressive once again and is managing to keep his emotions in check most of the time. The only problem is that he twisted his ankle last night - didn't really seem to affect him that much, but it could be a concern.

Last night was Stepaneks final and he was very emotional when he won - I am expecting a big let down from him tonight. Stepanek also had to come through qualifying which means he has played three extra matches compared to safin(1st rd bye). After his emotional win last night I think fatigue will be a factor for him. Stepanek did beat Safin in 3 sets the last time they played, but Safin has clicked his game up a few gears since then and I am pretty sure stepanek hasn't.

Good punting tonight and I hope you get a winner!

Safin will probably win but odds are far too short and Stepanek has upset so many others this competition. It's just not worth it.

The last time iseen him play he had open blisters the size of 20c pieces on his hands but he toughed out others wouldnt have turned up ...anyway I hope he kicks arse for ya tonight good luck

You are right about him being too short straight up knowledge. I am having Safin to win in straight sets at $1.90 and a little bit on Safin 3 sets to 1 as a saver.

The only decent player Stepanek has beaten all week is Youzhny who was a little bit tired after winning a title last week. The top half of the draw was always a lottery after a lot of withdrawals and when you see Henman being the strongest seed in that half you can see how Stepanek got through.

Safin to win 3-0. Stepanek doesn't stand a chance. I keep telling myself anyway.

I keep telling myself that as well JD. Hopefully Marat's alter ego doesn't come along tonight and spoil it for all of us!!

Did anyone see Stepanek beat Safin in Russia a couple of weeks ago?

sparkus8
7th November 2004, 09:52 PM
I saw bits and pieces of the match when the live feed wasn't playing up. Safin pretty much blew that match in the first set, he had 4 set points and didn't convert any of them then only to see Stepanek snatch the set on his first chance. Safin was very patchy that day and didn't serve very well at all. Stepanek on the other hand played his normal reliable game.

I have seen safin's last couple of matches and he is playing 1000 times better this week than he was then. He is serving very well and his backhand is on fire.

Stepanek has been consistent without being spectacular, which is always the way with him. He will usually win when his opponent has an off day because his level of play rarely differs - it is good without ever being great.

So if you choose to back Stepanek tonight you are pretty much backing that Safin will have an off night, rather than Stepanek having a great one.
