It's started a few minutes ago and it's called 20/20 Cricket. It's definitely not everyone's cup of tea, but whatever the traditionalists might think, they'll have to get used to it because the crowds are going to flock to this over the next few years. There was a huge crowd last night for WA vs VIC and there's another huge crowd tonight for AUS A vs PAK. The number crunchers at Cricket Australia will surely schedule more and more of these games.

20 overs a side - maximum of 4 overs per bowler - no balls are worth 2 runs - 2 fieldsman outside the circle for first 6 overs...game over in 3 HOURS

It's basically one-day Cricket condensed down even further so you can play the whole game in 3 hours on one night. It's all the rage in Engand and it's sure to catch on here too.

I love watching tests but I also enjoy the 20/20 games. They are so different you just see them as different sports almost. I agree, we'll be seeing a lot more of them, really made for telly. Got to get back to it!

Just hope Pakistan can put up a bit of a fight at least.

You wouldn't think a 20 over a side game could be so one-sided. Not good considering all those fans that turned up.

Easy win to Aussie A.
I'd like to see a state comp set up for this.

They could play some games on Friday nights and Channel 9 could show it in basically the same timeslot as they use for Friday Night Football.
By the way, seeing as Burke's Backyard got the flick, has anyone heard if Channel 9 is maybe going to have LIVE Football on Friday nights this year??? They were definitely thinking about it.

I heard that the footy would still be in he 8.30pm timeslot. Not live unfortunately. But thats just what I heard, not sure as to the reliability of the source.

Yeah. Don't know what I was thinking. If they show it live, of course they can't cram in all those never ending ads which make you lose the flow of the game and they can't stretch the telecast out to 11 o'clock so that people lose interest and fall asleep!!!

Geez, how things have changed. I remember only too well the days when Australian batsmen not only struggled to make big scores against the W.Indies, but struggled to just survive the 50 overs against Roberts, Garner, Marshall, Holding, Croft etc, etc. These days, the W.Indies have a pop gun attack full of part time spinners and medium pacers that wouldn't scare anyone!!!
