OK for those that are still up and watching the threads, here's a new thread for talking anything at all about racing. I am up, bored and drinking, my wife is asleep and annoyed with me for being the former three things, and so am still out here. Who's got a good racing topic?

If no-one comes up with one in 5 mins, I'll start one.

OK Shaun you're from WA, I am from Melb but I punt on Melb and WA, let's talk about WA racing. What's your approach to it? Also, I always do better on Ascot than Belmont. Any thoughts?

the thing i like about WA racing is we don't get much rain here so form is easier to judge...just my opinion...and you always see the same horses racing all year round so you get a feel for who to bet on and when

yeah that's what appealed to me originally, Perth is an island in that respect. Do you punt on Melbourne at all? I ask because although WA has those advantages, the benefit of Melbourne is the higher calibre horse, and the better the horse the more consistent it is ( and vice versa ) therefore the better the punting. In that respect Melb is a better prospect, so long as smart study eradicates the wet/dry aspect, which it does with a bit of study.

I hunt races no matter where they are....i only punt on open hcp and higher no 2yo races or maidens and stuff no 3yo only races or restricted races you know the ones.... so this limits the bets i will have each week.....my only problem at the moment is i can rate a race down to 4 selections with a 80% strike rate....just working out the best way to bet them....thinking of deleting a horse or two

OK if you're getting that S/R TRUST ME the best way is to price them and bet the overs. It's the most pure way to punt, and IMO the only real way to punt if you actually want to win. It's the way I punt, it's the way I win, and because this is a market process there is no problem with how many people do it - it's just the smartest (ie those with the best prices) who win overall, and most.

Price each race in which you intend to bet Shaun and bet your overs. Is this what you're currently doing?

Duritz.

guys why dont you use the chatroom shaun found?

Shaun

i do have prices but they are not exactly what the market would have them as....i use a method of adding all my ratings then dividing the horse rating by the total...this will give me a price.
