With all the talk of track bias ruining racing and whatever else, I find it hard to believe that some of the people complaining are punters themselves! While it is fair enough to hear owners, trainers, even jockeys complaining of track bias, to a punter track bias is a godsend.
There are two situations. One, no bias, every horse has a chance of winning. This makes it harder to pick the winner of the race, with every horse seemingly having its chance.
Then there is Two - track bias exists, half the field cannot win. For example, a leader bias will eliminate at least half, usually more of the field from having a winning chance! For the alert punter, this means he can eliminate many horses from his exotics, and will continue to find horses which, suited by the bias, will be deemed as 'surprise improvers' when they win at big odds, but really should have jumped out at punters nationwide.
As a punter, I rub my hands when I hear of a 'controversial' rail position, or rain of a Saturday, as I know this will help me narrow the chances of a race considerably.
I'm sure there are many other opinions on track bias out there, lets hear your views!
