I feel if Brad Haddin wasn't a keeper he would be in the Aussie side as a bat.
What do you think of this as a possibility for a one day batting line up:
Gilly
Clarke
Ponting
Martyn
Symonds
Katich
Haddin
Watson/Hogg
Lee
Gillespie
McGrath

Haddin, Symonds and Katich could easily swap around the 5,6,7; plus it would also take a lot of pressure off Gilly if he didn't have the added responsibility of being a keeper

just a thought

I don't think Clark is an opener...Dont think Katich is a oneday player...

Gilly
Hayden
Ponting
Martyn
Hussey
Clarke
Symonds
Hogg
Lee
Gillespie
McGrath

If Hayden fails in Nz or is to sick to go....hussey could handle it....
but if they need just a temp player i'd pick Jimmy maher....he's done the job before...

For me Hayden needs to go back to the domestic arena to find his feet, thats not to say when in form i wouldnt have him there. Cant cop Brett Lee, to expensive and also carries on like an English soccer player.

Gilly
Clarke
Ponting
Martyn
Katich
Symonds
Watson
Hogg
Kasprowicz
Gillespie
McGrath

Without lee batting still goes all the way down to Hogg, with the 3 quicks bowling that relentless line they always do, without having lee bowling 5 no-balls, 5 wides and whatever extras he can get past gilly!

Gee I bet the poms would love us to go over without Brett Lee.

His opening the bowling puts genuine fear into many top order batsmen.

look how Pakistan blokes were playing long way from body, thats if they could move quick enough to hit it.

I bet the pommy punters would rush Ladrokes if Lee isn't picked as neither Gillespie or Kaspowich would worry their good top order.

Lee might just get 10 2 of their top order to play poor shots, then McGrath can do his best

McGrath and Gillespie, and Kaspa for that matter, could all put the fear into any batsmen if they bowled 5 short balls per over as well , but they choose to bowl relentless line and HENCE their results. You only have to look at lee's stats to recognise that he is far more interested in looking good first and bowling well second. Dropped from test side due to bad form and one day arena 12 months ago, if he was a genuine GOOD quick he would be there CONSISTENTLY, but due to his terrible stats, and the way he checks that his hair is not out of place after every ball he should be playing English soccer!

Just my opinion, and if we didnt have em, gee it would be boring.....CHEERS.

Yeah, sorry Searay, I used to agree with you about Lee in one day cricket. However, I think he's definitely improved this year. He still goes for a few every now and then, but on the whole, he's more consistent and he's back bowling fast and straight and not trying to bowl too short. He must have bowled well today. Anyone who bowls 4 overs in a 20/20 match and only concedes 26 has done a pretty good job. McGrath went for nearly twice that.

Yep. Certainly was. Couldn't believe they kept picking him. But I must admit he HAS improved.

I suppose if you have an injury and you change things to compensate it can throw a lot of things out of whack(rhythm and timing) and one dosent get things back together overnight..............and fast bowlers always run the risk of injury .........although I dont remember those windies players in the 70s and 80s havin too many injuries there always seemed to be plenty of them lining up to give us a battering ...thank god those days are gone ....I used to get so disheartened seeing them flog us

You are probaly right about him given he has improved his line and action, i think its just the way he carries on that gets to me.......grrrrrrrrr.
