This is a bold, bold prediction... but we'll see how it holds up. I don't think M Schumacher will win the F1 Drivers Championship this year. I don't even think Ferrari will win the constructors championship.

With Schuey @ 1.45 to win the campionship you can see why I'm on a limb here with that statement. But I have reasons. IMO the component of an F1 car that makes the biggest difference is the tyres. Last year Bridgestone had by far the better tyre. They also had the best car, and best driver, but they had that in 2003 and in that year M Schumacher won the championship by a mere 2 points or something. Last year they were virtually unbeatable.

Ferrari are the only big testing team running Bridgestone - all the others run Michelin - and as a consequence Bridgestone have only done about 15,000km tyre testing so far this year. Michelin have done about 80,000km. That's a big difference.

This weeks testing in Barcelona is not finished yet, but to date Ferrari havn't set any unbelievable blistering times. Assumimg they don't then I think they'll likely measure up even, or slightly behind the pace of the front runners McLaren and Renault (Williams so far a little off the pace unfortunately for Webber fans). Unsure about BAR.

So, who to back? Well, I've plummed for Reikkonen in the McLaren @ $8.00. But you could easily justify any McLaren or Renault driver at this stage.

Schumacher and Ferrari *wont* win in Melbourne but will likely get very fast for the European races when they get their new car. So if you do want to back the Schu I would suggest waiting 2 or 3 races - the odds will get better.

So, there you go ladies and gentlemen. My balls are well and truly out there. Mind your step.

Well, you obviously know your stuff, but given what's happened the last few years, $1.45 actually looks like overs to me. Good luck with your tip. Would be good to see someone else win. I stopped watching F1 a couple of years ago, because him winning all the time was SO BORING!!!

I personally couldn't give a rats toss who wins!
For me,it was always boring since Alan Jones give it away!

Drag racing ain't bad but.

Hope you backed Fissy, Mofo.
Good on you for having the guts to Pot Schuey so early.
I backed Fissichella But only yesterday and at $3. Not the double figure that was on offer at the start of the week

Thanks mug, well done on Fissy. I didn't back him unfortunately, but I swear I was going to ;) I did make an overall collect on Klein top 8 and alonso podium however so :)

Tyres not much of a difference really and I"m beginning to think Toyota may be value for top 8 or podium over the next couple races. Ferrari will come back strong with new car but Malaysia they will be without so likely i'll be staying away from them - depends what the bookies have learned I guess.

I'll be keeping my eye on what this guy http://www.planet-f1.com/news/story_18742.shtml says tho coz he clearly knows his stuff.

Early prices on the Malaysian GP are up, and one thing stands out for me. Klein, in the Red Bull, paying $41.00 on a podium. He had good pace in Australia - worthy of a small bet I'd say. Chances are that their pace was not a fluke and also a chance of rain which can can turn the race into a bit of a lottery sometimes.

Renault were the fastest in Melbourne, so Alonso @ $5's probably my pick although MSchumacher has a new engine in his car and both renaults have got the same engine as 2 weeks ago so their reliability is in question. Schu is paying $3

SCHUMACHER, Michael (Ferrari) 3.00
ALONSO, Fernando (Renault) 5.00
FISICHELLA, Giancarlo (Renault) 6.00
RAIKKONEN, Kimi (McLaren) 6.00
MONTOYA, Juan-Pablo (McLaren) 8.00
BARRICHELLO, Rubens (Ferrari) 9.00
BUTTON, Jenson (Bar) 17.00
WEBBER, Mark (Williams) 26.00
HEIDFELD, Nick (Williams) 41.00
COULTHARD, David (Red Bull) 51.00
SATO, Takuma (Bar) 67.00

These are my bets for Malaysia:

Winner: Alonso $5.00, has the fastest car - should be favourite IMO.

Podium: Barrichello $2.50, Ferrari aint slow - they just arn't FAST. Same goes for Rubins. Consistant driver - podium probable.

Top8: Klein $4.00, he paid off for me last time so I'm keeping the faith. Also a small bet on him top3.

I browsed the net for F1 betting, and there are many sites dedicated to it. None of them have put anything up for the next race yet but I'll keep my eye on it.

I believe I'm entitled to be satisfied with my work this week. My bets nearly tripled up with the win going to Alonso, and Klein grabbing 7th.

Ferrari struggled - what were the bookies thinking installing MShcu at favourite? Ferrari won't be favourite next time - so it'll be harder to find value now, probably. Wait and see I guess.
