Hi Martin,

I notice that your family never agrees on selections. Not once. Is it difficult to decide where to have holidays?

Sorry, to keep to the point, are there three different systems working here?

We've been over this many times in the past - obviously you've only just come on board recently.

Every Saturday morning the three of us get together, after each of us has seperately analysed the form on Friday evenings, to come up with 3 outsiders in each race that we believe can upset the favourites. Sometimes we come up with 5 horses, but we always narrow it down to 3 because the races we pick are the legs of the doubles races in NSW so we want people (including us) to be able to couple our selections up, as well as to take trifectas. We have a system of determining who takes ownership of which selection.

Okay, so I assume it is level stakes betting then, given the nature of your selections. Are you keeping a track of these selections, or just laying them to rest once the weekend is out? Who is your most successful tipster and what is the profit line looking like?

We no longer keep records, and I'll tell you why.

We have been providing on-line outsider selections to dozens of bulletin boards and mailing lists for over 8 years, and started keeping accurate records 5 years ago for 3 years.

After the first year, Zev came out the big winner, followed by Martin coming out slightly ahead, and Carol being just behind Martin but still above break-even.
After the 2nd year, Martin came out way in front, Carol also came out well ahead, but well behind Martin, and Zev came out square.
After the 3rd year, Carol came out way ahead with Martin just coming out above break-even, and Zev ending up with a small loss.
So the trend appeared to be Zev getting worse each year, with Martin & Carol both always coming out in front, but alternating as to who does best.

However, so far this year, Carol has done best, Martin second, and Zev third; but there are no longer any records.

Furthermore, over the past 3 years, we have entered about 10 tipping competitions being run over various boards & lists, and one of us has either won, come 2nd or 3rd in 8 out of the 10 contests. They all have had about 50 to 80 tipsters each; and in the other 2 contests Martin came 5th in one, and Carol came 6th in the other.

As you may have guessed, the 3 of us love horseracing and are in it for the fun, not the money, although winning money does make it feel all the better.

Cheers,
Martin

Thanks for the insight. Your popularity is strong as ever on this site as well.

Good luck for the tipping, I have a feeling Zev's luck is about to change.
