i wonder which horse has cost punters the most money.
my tip would be fava.
i cannot remember it winning a race and it is always carrying a lot of punters money.

I think I heard them say it's 3 years since it's won. Don't know why people keep backing it.

Lady Sophia, deadset money muncher! Plenty ogf others i could nominate, Lord Volksraad, always goes round with solid support, but the horse that has cost me most money is a nag called Mr. Greig, absolute non winner,(look at the record) closely followed by Peace Ruler.

Confectioner, so far but really only been punting solid for a couple of years. Twice i've missed the quaddie being on this thing! both were for 5 figure payouts.

Dare I ask, but why do you all keep backing them? Nobody's forcing you to.

Wow Real Deal, Confectioner is a big call. He's had 7 wins and 12 placings from 16 starts. If anyone had backed him at every start, they'd certainly be in front.

There is one that keeps going around over in the west that I keep laying on Betfair and am well in front with and that's a cat named Fred Who, nearly always starts @ single figure odds. You've just gotta luv these types - some of the best lays are cats who masquerade as horses that have names like Fred, John, Bill etc or Uncle or even better Aunty - just about everyone has a favorite Aunty.

is that possible? i guess its just one of those horses i can never catch. it wins when i go against it and it runs like a cat with my hard earned on it! i could have named numerous long shots that have cost me every time since the first time i backed them for a win, but confectioner is a horse that always hurts me.

Remember Aunty Mary from back in the 90s? A very handy mare which ended up winning over 1/2 a million dollars, but she certainly wasn't any champion. Well, she used to run in all the big races against horses like Filante, Juggler, Doriemus, Jeune, Mahogany etc and pretty much every time she did, she opened up favourite on the tote. Obviously everyone that had an Aunty Mary must have backed her.

I have a family member with the name viv, simply viv has run last 2 saturdays and both times i've thought of doing a stupid omen bet but both times common sense got the better of me. i think from memory it won paying $7.50 2 weeks ago and 2nd place $1.70 on weekend. I guess i should have had that stupid omen bet!

Aunty Mary was Ok as a performer but she nearly always came up favourite on the tote and just about always started as too short of a price and did only win 9 races from 71 starts.
Another 'Aunty' who often raced well under the odds she should have was Aunty Hilda who won a mere 6 races from 50. In her last 39 starts she went to the post 27 times at single figure odds for just five wins @ odds of: 4/6F: 11/2: 6/4F: 4/5F: 5/2, a loss of close to 50%.
Anyone who wants to lay on Betfair, such as Mark, should always be on the lookout for these types, they invariably will be under their true odds.
