At Sandown, in the fourth, the Rodney Douglas trained, Steven King ridden, one start for one win-ed Intierra is 100/1 in my market. Bet around it with gusto should it be in the market, which given the stats in my first sentence, it should. It can't win.

Well, in the end, it didn't win, but it was a pretty good run. Certainly not the run of a horse that had no chance, and definitely not the run of a 100/1 shot.

Great pick. Wish I'd had him tied to the winner. A $32 place horse (for $2)
on my TAB. This has been a night when I couldn't bet anything right.

Regards,

Glenn

I'm confused!? Were we tipping or knocking?

No, I think Glenn was a bit confused, but that's understandable. He's probably like me in that he's a bit unused to people picking horses to lose.

Yep. I think I'll just keep my mouth shut until I hit form again.....

That is, of course, unless COOL TRENT IS RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Duritz, what betting sites or agencies accept lay bets (sorry not sure of technical term) and what sort of divvies do you get on them?

It wasn't in the market, and it got beat, so nothing lost Duritz.

Actually Sportz, I do a Helluva job picking losers myself. Had many yesterday.

I did misunderstand; I know what you mean by a "lay" of the day, but after looking at the form of Duritz's lay, I thought it had a pretty reasonable chance, and that Duritz was jesting and indirectly giving us a decent roughie. I only bet him to win, unfortunately, as I often do with a gifted roughie. As it turns out, I guess I look even dumber than I thought I did last night, with my "bet of the day" , Peace Ruler, running up the track.

It is another reminder that I have much to learn about racing in Australia, and I appreciate everyones patience and kindness.

Regards,

Glenn

Desi Betfair are the joint with which you can lay horses - www.betfair.com - and the divies you get depend on the odds of the horse. If a horse is say $2.50 on the tote, you may have to offer between $2.50 and $3.00 on average to lay it. Reversed, if you lay a horse at $3.0 it is the same as backing it to lose at $1.50. If you lay a horse at $10 it is the same as backing it to lose at $1.11. If you lay a horse at $2.00 it is the same as backing it to lose at $2.00.
