Been doing some queries on my Sydney racing database.
Have some interesting results.

Can some one tell me what they get for the following:
Sydney metro races (any day, any race)
To qualify the horse must have ALL the following:
1. Jockey = "D BEADMAN" Or "C BROWN" Or "C MUNCE" Or "G BOSS" Or "J BOWMAN" Or "J CASSIDY" Or "D BEASLEY" Or "B PENGELLY" Or "D MCLELLAN"

2. Trainer = "JOHN HAWKES" Or "GAI WATERHOUSE" Or "JOHN O'SHEA" Or "GUY WALTER" Or "GERALD RYAN" Or "GARY PORTELLI" Or "JACK DENHAM" Or "KEVIN MOSES" Or "TIM MARTIN" Or "DAVID PAYNE" Or "JOSEPH PRIDE" Or "GWENDA MARKWELL"

3. Price <= $4

If you could post results from 1/1/2003 to see how they match my figures that would be good.

By the way this is what i get:
Runners = 879
Winners = 360
Return = $992
S/R = 40.9%
POT = 12.85%

I have tried some other filters. The only one i have found so far that significantly impacts the results is
4. Last start position > 1 (ie not a last start winner)

Adding this give the following:
Runners = 584
Winners = 236
Return = $691
S/R = 40.4%
POT = 18.32%

Cheers,
Blocka.

Hi Blocka,

I'm not that familiar with Sydney racing so this question may seem stupid to those that are but what made you choose those particular Jockeys / Trainers? are they the top so many, strike rate above such and such, or just a personal choice?

Hi KennyVictor,

Yes they are the top ones. I ran some queries to see what the strike rate and ROI were for jockeys and trainers. Also i narrowed down to only include their results on runners that are in the market.
I then handpicked based mainly on the ROI, and a decent number of starts and also some personal thoughts. No hard and fast limits.

Cheers,
Blocka.

How would your system work for Melbourne racing?

Just a thought.

I don't have any data for Melbourne yet. Plan to get some soon though.
