Vouvray is at $21 on sportsbet. Apart from GA and diva this looks like the horse that can win. I think that price represents value

Is Grand armee a 2400m horse?
I think Makybe Divas odds will shorten $2.35 on Unitab fixed is pretty good
dont know about Cheval de troy
Vouvray would be competitive on best form, caulfield cup run was good
Cheers

I can definately see Makybe racing favourite here, but although she is so good and i have won so much from her, i don't think she'll beat Grand Armee. He gets all the favors in this race and he certainly was strong at the end of 2000, i think anything over even money he's a great bet.

Grand Armee on his home turf,,to hard to beat...
I think Hugs Dancer will run a nice race..last time he did all the futile chasing behind GA hoping this time he'll settle back and have a go at the end ..the longer the race the better....hope its a good track ...i might just have a go at him....still thinking :)
about time there was an upset !!

She'll run him down. She wouldn't if it were 2000m, but she CERTAINLY will over 2400. (assuming she doesn't do an elvstroem, gag gag!)

Word has it that all the money is for the diva and now sportsbet has been left with no choice but to install makybe diva as a $2.00 favourite ahead of grand armee at $2.10.

You can see how popular Makybe Diva is by the early tote figures. She's only 1.40 at the moment and Grand Armee is $6.80!!!

Chuck
19th March 2005, 01:32 PM
i think she is good value anything above $1.35, because she is GOING TO WIN

Raw Instinct
19th March 2005, 02:27 PM
She is the best horse in Australia right now absolutely amazing win Grand Armee should have walked in he cannot run 2400m the mare just might be the best horse I have seen I certainly haven't seen many better if any.

Chuck
19th March 2005, 02:32 PM
for her to be able to just sprint for about 600m is unbelievable. That was a brilliantly run race by her - she had him even before the turn. Forget that Grand Armee wasn't going to run the distance, just look at how easily the diva made up the 12 length lead in the blink of an eye. Almost a hands and heels win

Betsy
19th March 2005, 02:33 PM

mecurial
19th March 2005, 05:53 PM
Makybe Diva has cost me dearly. I had Grand Armee in the first leg of the quaddie, just for $1, me not being a big time punter and not usually one for the exotics i just chucked it on for interest....and then the next three ran in like they did. Cost me $313. Would of made a very good day a pearler.

Mr ed
20th March 2005, 12:19 AM
Too big, too good, too strong. Should never have backed against her, i agree GA didn't stay he absolutely plodded over the line.

Paddy
20th March 2005, 12:32 AM
Too bid, too good, too strong. Should never have backed against her, i agree GA didn't stay he absolutely plodded over the line.

Beg to differ Mr ed. Wasn't a weakness in the GA armour that made the difference. Seems the Diva is still underrated in some quarters. I guess that's just racing !

Mr ed
20th March 2005, 12:55 AM
Not at all Paddy, she's awesome, had plenty left, she would have beaten him anyway. But no judge watching the race could say that Grand Armee looked comfortable at the trip. This can be seen by the difference in margins between he and Vouvray from their previous outing in which he was eased down. I am a huge a fan of the Diva, she's an absolute world beater, but just calling GA's race on it's own merits.

Paddy
20th March 2005, 01:06 AM
Still one would expect Vouvray to perform better this run, just back from a spell & did run a grand race in last years Caulfield Cup, this distance and on a dead track.

Mr ed
20th March 2005, 01:42 AM
Fair enough, but Vouvray was second-up when she ran that great race in the Caulfield Cup, and the trainer has always believed she goes better on the fresh side. GA is not as affective @ 2400m as he is @ 2000m do you agree on this? Again emphasising i'm in awe of Makybe, no other horse in Australia could have got near him from her position.

Raw Instinct
20th March 2005, 09:35 AM
Mr Ed I would say Grand Armee is questionable against the top horses over 2000 metres it a truly run race where he doesn't get it all his own way in front. I think he is a really good miler who has gotten a few real good wins over longer journeys because he gets to walk in front and sprint against stayers who usually cannot sprint. IMO GA got it all his way yesterday to the difference was that this time there was a stayer in the race with a better sprint than maybe any stayer we have ever seen her sectionals are truly extrordinary she is the best horse I have seen which may not quite be the ammount of horses alot of you guys have but of the modern era which I have seen I havenot seen better.

Paddy
20th March 2005, 10:20 AM
GA is not as affective @ 2400m as he is @ 2000m do you agree on this? Given his 2000M record & with only 2 (I think) 2400M attempts, you'd have to agree Mr ed.....is his Hong Kong trip still on the agenda?

Raw Instinct
20th March 2005, 09:13 PM
Paddy I thought I had heard that the Hong Kong trip was off but certainly do not take that as being set in stone.

Mr ed
21st March 2005, 10:47 AM
Yeh, dunno mate. Was a bit dirty the other day, probably not that GA didn't stay but that i didn't back the greatest stayer, probably horse, we have ever seen. I still don't think he wants it over 2000 but in saying that if the mighty mare wasn't there he wouldv'e won a WFA G1 by 2 lengths. I did underrate her b4 the race, i.e using Winning Belle as a formline, and taking into account her last Sydney campaign, which wasn't stunning. She deserves all the accolades she gets. Beat the world and bring her back for the Cox Plate, she'd give it a huge shake.

zorro
21st March 2005, 01:52 PM
Like everyone else I've been in awe of the Diva's last 2 runs. If she was mine I wouldn't be mucking around with 2 mile races in Japan. I'd be buying Freedman an English-French dictionary and heading straight for the Arc de Triomphe. I reckon she's Australia's best-ever chance in the world's top race.
