The website http://www.cdsystems.uk.com/ (http://www.cdsystems.uk.com/) comments: "Three-year-olds at the top of the handicap are improving horses (as opposed to older topweights who may be declining, but are still at the top based on what they did a long time ago). The effect of weight is grossly overstated in most cases, so the official handicapper has saved us a lot of form study by telling us the best horses. We then just need to look for confirmation of current form."

I hope I am not telling you something new here, but you need no system or insight, when you see a disproportional place/win odds like the above.

Anyone who had not noticed this before, (and I hope all serious punters have) should go and play bingo instead! they'd have a better chance of making a profit there.

I want to clarify something in the results I gave.

The results I gave were using SuperTAB returns.

In case I give two dividends if the horse wins the race, the left figure represents the win return and the right figure represents the place return.

The results I gave were for Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide meetings for Saturdays throughout August 2006. This resulted in 17 selections for five winners for a total win return of $28.00, for a profit of $11.00 (64.71%). There were a total of ten placings (including wins) for a total place return of $20.70, for a profit of $3.70 (21.76%).
