Im going to give Savabeel one last go. Light in the weights, Shane Dye on board and Grand Armee is well into the campaign 2400 might of taken it out of him a couple of weeks ago. Should be a bit of value as well.

If i can offer any advice it would be to kep all the money you are going to outlay on savabeel in your pocket. Its last start i was at flemington and the jockey put away the whip at the 100 cause the horse refused to respond. The going is probably worse up there and it will be no where near the finish of this race.

Interesting words thanks Real Deal.
I keep looking and looking at this race, and wondering how the **** are they going to beat GA. If it goes like it has it's last two then they surely cannot, because if they could then they'd be better than M.Diva too, and NONE of these horses are better (or even close to) M.Diva at WFA. So, GA should be an absolute moral then. The only thing is as Mercurial said, if GA is over the top. If not, it just wins. I'll want $2.50 though. Hell I might not bet. This just looks too straightforward - like two ago when he brained them, this looks like another walk in the park. SOMETHING must be going to happen, becuase horse racing isn't this straightforward, surely? I mark GA a $1.30 chance on my ratings, he has literally lengths on these horses but they don't get any weight from him (or if they do, only weight for age allowance). If he performs again, he wins, full stop. By three or four. So, with that in mind, isn't $1.80 or so insane overs??? If, as I said, his best (ie his last two starts) beats their best with ease, shouldn't he be $1.30?

Savabeel's best form has been 4th up and following. He's 4th up tomorrow. He steps up to 2000m, which suits. And he returns to his home track. It's worth noting that his win at this track and distance was in slow conditions, so track conditions won't bother him if it's a bit wet. I think he's the only danger to Grand Armee.
I rate them:
1. Grand Armee $1.8
11. Savabeel $5.7

Well, although Grand Armee is almost a surething and after witnessing the seagull race, I won't say absolute. I have gone for a bit of value and believe
St. Reims could run a good race. The only time this horse raced in Australia was in the Yalumba Stakes and finished 4.4L behind Mummify, Grand Armee and Starcraft into 4th placing. It's five runs since the Yalumba have been impressive finishing no worse than 2.4L and winning twice from three starts over 2000m and a 2nd behind Xcellent 1.8L who was favourite for the Derby, but failed. My only concern is the class rise but connections obviously believe he's up to it by flying him all this way for this race and after all he is a Zabeel entire, so 'Winner of the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes' would look impressive in any promotional material? There you have it St. Reims from Grand Armee and Savabeel.
One final thought if he doesn't fill a placing I'd nut him and set him for the Grand National Steeplechase!
Cheers

GRAND ARMEE is obviously the one to beat. Be surprised if he doesn’t win.
If ST REIMS can improve on his last campaign here could be a smoky. Going great guns in NZ and may even give Grand Armee a run for his money.
Would not be surprised to see proven WFA performer MUMMIFY run a big race in this. Not suited the slow track yet great run in the Chairmans. Has done OK track and distance in the past.
Cox Plate winner SAVABEEL is now back in Sydney and should be ready to produce best. Unbeaten this distance and has done OK this track in the past.

Haven't given the race the good once over yet, but i only wish i could pick winners as easy as i can pick horses that have no chance. Savabeel was the easiest lay for the whole day, just wondering if it ever had a chance?
