Okay, a new idea for us here. The idea of this comp is to pick a 'stable' of horses to follow over the next couple of months. The challenge will go from Apr 9 to June 13. The idea is to try to pick horses you think will be able to win races on metropolitan tracks on Saturdays and Public Holidays over that period.

RULES

Closing time for posting your stable is Midnight Friday Apr8. You need to pick 12 horses for your stable, 6 'Group A' horses and 6 'Group B' horses.

During the period of the comp, you'll be having hypothetical bets on all of your stable horses whenever they start at one of our nominated meetings. You'll bet either $20 Win or $10 EW on all Group A horses and you'll have either $10 Win or $5 EW on all Group B horses. You decide on the day of the race if you want to back them Win or EW.

On May 8 a 'trading period' will begin where you can replace up to 3 of your stable horses with new selections for the rest of the comp. Closing time for this is Midnight Fri May 13. During this time, you are also allowed to swap your A & B horses around if you wish, as long as you continue to have 6 of each.

It is up to you to post all your stable runners on here when they are down to race. Probably a good idea to use something like the 'Racenet Blackbook' so you don't miss any of the selections. http://www.racenet.com.au/blackbook.asp

There are 14 racedays and 67 meetings we will be able to use for the competition. If one of our horses wins a race at another meeting during the competition period, it's just bad luck.

Here are the meetings we'll be betting on:
Sat Apr 9 (Doom, W.Frm, Caul, Morp, Belm)
Sat Apr 16 (E.Frm, Rose, Flem, Chel, Belm)
Sat Apr 23 (Doom, Rand, Caul, Chel, Belm)
Mon Apr 25 (E.Frm, Rand, Flem, V.Pk, Belm)
Sat Apr 30 (Doom, Rose, Sand, Morp, Belm)
Mon May 2 (Doom, Cant)
Sat May 7 (E.Frm, Rose, Flem, Morp, Belm)
Sat May 14 (G.Cst, Rand, Sand, Morp, Belm)
Mon May 16 (Ipsw, Cant, Flem, Morp, Belm)
Sat May 21 (Doom, Rose, M.Val, Chel, Belm)
Sat May 28 (Doom, Rose, Flem, Chel, Belm)
Sat June 4 (E.Frm, Rose, Sand, Chel, Belm)
Sat June 11 (E.Frm, Rand, Flem, Morp, Belm)
Mon June 13 (E.Frm, W.Frm, M.Val, Morp, Belm)

Obviously, the one whose stable has made the most money after June 13 will be the champ. Good luck with it. :)

A few days to go. I hope we will have more than just 5 of us in the comp.

Is anyone ready to post their stables yet? I still have a few spots to sort out with mine.

I'm happy to participate, no good having only a paltry amount in. But how are we supposed to pick out horses that are to run 6 weeks in advance? Especially in the dreaded winter months, I'm not realy going to have an idea of who will be running..

Paddy
5th April 2005, 02:04 PM
So you can pick any horse/s. Doesn't matter what class they may be racing in?

Sportz
5th April 2005, 02:14 PM
Well, that's the trick Mecurial. It's not meant to be easy.

Read all the recent articles in the papers or on the racing websites like Racenet or AAP RacingAndSports. They will often tell you which horses are being targetted for which races in the next couple of months. Also try to catch up with the racing news on your local racing station if you can.

Alternatively, go through the races from the last couple of Saturdays and look for horses which have had just 1-3 runs back from a spell and have been impressive or unlucky. Look for the horses that just seem to be building up to a win in the near future.

I've also given you a headstart by allowing you to wait until Friday night to post your stable of horses. That means you can look at the form guide and pick some horses you think will win this Saturday. It also means you should be able to pick out a few horses which are perhaps resuming from a spell or maybe have had 1 or 2 runs back and therefore will be aimed at big races over the next couple of months.

Hope all that helps.

Sportz
5th April 2005, 02:17 PM
So you can pick any horse/s. Doesn't matter what class they may be racing in?

Yes. As long as they will be running at metropolitan meetings on Saturdays and public holidays. Won't be much good if they run in a midweek maiden at Gosford or Bendigo or something.

Paddy

Any chance of a 2nd 'trading period' Sportz? :)

same thought crossed my mind....any chance Sportz?

Sportz
5th April 2005, 02:46 PM
Paddy, you're lucky I'm so nice. :D

Okay, here's what we'll do. We'll divide the comp into 3 parts instead of 2. During both of the trading periods, you'll be able to drop 3 of your 12 horses and change your A & B horses around. By the way, I dropped the Canterbury meeting on May 2 as it's only a public holiday in Qld and the Sydney meeting will probably be just like a midweeker.

Sounds like an interesting comp. Sportz you need a medal for running these things. I won't be competing but will be watching with interest.

I don't know if it would be giving a leg up to anyone, but I would be slipping Shamehka and Afraah in. Gai has already indicated these two will bat on for the other carnivals, and Gai does'nt mind running her horses into the ground to pick up prizemoney.

Best of Luck to everyone.

As per Sportz original post

You need to pick 12 horses for your stable, 6 'Group A' horses and 6 'Group B' horses.

During the period of the comp, you'll be having hypothetical bets on all of your stable horses whenever they start at one of our nominated meetings. Sportz
6th April 2005, 09:04 AM
Yeah, Mr Ed. The 6 horses that you're keenest on go into "Group A" and you bet twice as much on these horses as you do on the "Group B" horses.

Remember that the first section of the comp finishes on Apr25 and after that you'll have a chance to change them around and switch some Group B horses to Group A and vice versa.

Starcraft
6th April 2005, 04:01 PM
Why? Did I do something wrong?

Mr ed
6th April 2005, 10:59 PM
Starcraft, alot of great horses there, but really horses like Alinghi, Dizzelle, Lad of The Manor, Danni Martine, Tui Song and Danger Looms have all finished their autumn canivals and will be spelled until the spring so you wont get any races from them in this comp. Better off backing horses at start, middle of their preps who race quite often such as, Zariban and Proudly Aggro who i know are two of your favorites.

Sportz
7th April 2005, 07:09 AM
Yep.

Starcraft, not all but most of the horses that raced over the last few weeks in the big Group 1 races in Sydney will be going out for a spell. You would be better looking at horses that have just come back and had 1 or 2 starts. It also would be good to include a few horses that race in Brisbane or Adelaide because that's where the big races will be during the comp.

I've given you a head start by allowing you up until midnight this Friday to pick your stable. That way you can look at this Saturday's races. Should be able to pick a few nice horses out of that. :)

Has anybody got a placing today? I've been thinking that perhaps I should change that rule.

With this comp we are after all trying to pick future winners, not future placegetters, so does anyone have any complaints with cancelling out all the each way bets today and making them all win bets instead??? I've noticed that there's been quite a few each way bets today which have won, so I think those people would be agreeable.

What does everyone think?

Well done guys on the first week. Some great winners tipped and every single person got at least one winner. Overall, all 11 people's bets added together produced a profit of $270 or 28.1%. Not bad. Could have been even more if some of us had done a bit better though. :o

it would have been $122 more in the bank if Zingham hadn't firmed from $11 into $4.80 !!!

he was a certainty in my book after his last run...missing the start and screaming home...

Yeah, well I assume Gallic will probably be spelled now. How bad was it? I had him picked out for some of the staying races in Adelaide. At least that makes the decision of which horses to replace next time easier.

Some people had as many as 10 or 11 of their stable runners going around this week. Hard to see more than a few of those backing up next week, so they might find it a bit tough to add to their tally. Will be interesting to see how many selections we have next week. It was easy this week by comparison because at least we had the fields to go by. There's a couple of horses in my stable that I'm worried about because I thought they might have been in this week and they weren't. Hope they aren't injured or out for a spell.

You can mark all of these down for this week:

Cianara
Dane Shakira
Landloper
Portland Singa
Raid The Royals
Reannag
Sorenstam
Willy Leica

They were all horses I was strongly considering for my stable but eventually I left them out. I see they're all nominated for this Saturday. You watch 'em get up now. Especially Raid The Royals which is one of my current favourites, but I left it out because I thought it might have gone out for a spell. :(

Chuck

GO THE SINGA...in my group A

great last start run

Sportz
11th April 2005, 05:36 PM
I know, but as I said, I could have picked 20+ horses and that was one that I eventually decided to leave out. Probably a big mistake. It's nominated for the same race as Dane Shakira.

Mr ed
11th April 2005, 11:04 PM
Have been very impressed with Raid the Royals sports, he really motors home. Just thought we might have missed the boat with him for this comp, as his odds will no longer be flash, and he'll start to creep up in the weights. My tip for the straight 6 will be Mcarthy's Bar if he gets a run, will almost certainly be on the minimum and was a monster finish first up for nearly a year, i wish i took him instead of Gallic.

Also thought Sonic Royal's next run will be in town after three absolute huge runs @ Cranbourne (the videos need to be seen to be believed) again i thought first trip to town so perhaps some odds. I have no doubt he can win in town, but he's instead been nominated for a poxy C4 @ Cranbourne Thursday, which he looks an absolute standout in. He has been winning them Showcase races so actually dropping in class for demoralising them last start @ ridiculous overs. He's getting up in weight so might get better then even money for him, in which case he's a must have.

Hopefully Sassbee runs this weekend Sportz, he's a real talent and can't wait to see him back @ the races.

Sportz
12th April 2005, 05:41 AM
Yes, I was going to include Sonic Royal too, but I looked at all the nominations last week and saw he was down for that Cranbourne race. That's the only reason I left him out. He's won all of his last 3 races at Cranbourne, so they obviously like running him there.

This Stable comp idea is a bit experimental. It probably would have been better to include all races on any day of the week and allow people to update their stable weekly. I just thought it would be a bit easier the way I've done it and we'll play it out this way until the end. It will be a real challenge.

For the next comp we do though, I'll probably use the following rules:
20 horses
Update weekly
Any TAB races

Chuck
12th April 2005, 07:49 AM
i'm not sure about that...it you update it weekly then isn't it basically a tipping comp? Just pick the horses you think will win on Saturday! Maybe 2 trades weekly but no more than that...And isn't 20 horses a bit too much...agreed that there were a lot more horses we could've put in isn't, but that is part of the game!

Sportz
12th April 2005, 08:06 AM
Yeah, it would only be 1 or 2 changes each week. Of the 20 horses, 10 of them would be horses that you MUST keep in your stable all the way through no matter what, while you could replace 1 or 2 of your other 10 horses each week. Maybe not 20 horses, perhaps 16 or something like that.

Anyway, don't worry about that now. We're not using those rules on the current stable.

Chuck
12th April 2005, 08:43 AM
BTW

are we calculating the final rankings on POT or Winnings? For example who would be winning this week if we have a different person on top of each ladder?

Sportz
12th April 2005, 08:50 AM
It's calculated on overall winnings (sorry Chuck :)), but I include the POT table there just as a reference.

After all, it would be possible for somebody to get a huge POT by having just a handful of runs and getting one or two good results from those. This comp is about selecting as many future winners as possible, and preferably at reasonably good odds, so overall winnings it is.

I think 12 horses is plenty and maybe just be able to change 2 a week would be good so then we could add our specials. I also like the idea about any tab races, because as we all know getting a 4/1 winner in the country is exactly the same as getting a 4/1 winner in the Melbourne Cup, and Victoria country meetings is where i do best.

Sportz
12th April 2005, 10:52 AM
OH, WHAT THE HECK! Geez, I'm easily persuaded! Okay guys, here's what I'll do.

We haven't had a horse run around yet at a midweek or non metropolitan meeting as far as I know, so no reason why we can't change that rule. I agree about the fact that a winner in the bush is just as much a winner as those at City tracks. (disagree with that comment about the Melbourne Cup though Ed)

Also, I agree that it would probably be better if we could make changes every single week instead of every 3 weeks. That way, you can quickly replace horses that are injured or going out for a spell etc. Also, as we will be making changes every week, it's not necessary to have a Group A & B as we'd just be able to change them every single week anyway. So for pure simplicity, I think from now on we'll just have 12 runners in our stable, no Group A & B. I'm sorry, but I'll also adjust our results from Saturday accordingly.

So here are the new rules. Everyone that's in this comp please read them:

Everybody to have 12 horses in their stable.

During the period of the comp, you'll be having hypothetical $10 win bets on all of your stable horses whenever they start at an Australian meeting covered by Unitab.

Each Friday, you'll be able to replace up to 2 of your stable runners with new selections. If you have a stable runner racing on Friday, you must wait until after they've run. Otherwise you can make your changes any time on Friday up until the cutoff time of midnight.

It is up to you to post all your stable runners on here when they are down to race. Probably a good idea to use something like the 'Racenet Blackbook' so you don't miss any of the selections, especially as we are now counting races at out of town tracks. http://www.racenet.com.au/blackbook.asp

There. Those rules are MUCH simpler. Why didn't I just do it like that in the first place??? Anyway, as not everyone is likely to read this before tomorrow, can we have volunteers to go through all the stable lists and check for runners. I'll have a look but I might miss one. I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be any running today, but there might be a couple tomorrow. I know that Kylikwong is down to run and she's in a couple of stables. Also Mr Ed mentioned Sonic Royal which might run on Thursday.

Okay, that's it. No more rule changing from now on..... :o

I'm very sorry for all the stuffing around Chuck. It's just that it will be easier if we do it this way. I really should have simply organised it like this in the first place.

As I said, there's probably no more than just a few horses racing this week anyway and as we've only had one raceday, I don't see any real harm in bringing in these rules now.

Again I apologise to all for the sloppy organisation, but I think it will be better if we do it this way from now on. :o

Chuck
12th April 2005, 11:27 AM
what about he Group A and B rules...are they going to stay because i thought that was a good idea

Mr ed
12th April 2005, 11:42 AM
What about if you only get 2 changes a week i.e swapping a horse for another horse = 1, moving a horse from group a to b = 1, this would stop people mixing things around too much. Example, if you wanted to swap Gold Wells from group b for Mccarthy's bar that's one, then if you wanted to swap Mccarthys bar into group a and downgrade Gallic to group B thats your second. Once any changes are made the contestant must then post their full Stable list including specifying the changes they made and grouping their stable. Just throwing around ideas, but i think this Sunday we should all be able to chose a complete new stable, as for the new any meeting rule.

Sportz
12th April 2005, 12:01 PM
:( Fair dinkum, I'm getting a headache with all these suggestions. I thought I had it all sorted.

I must admit that's a good idea of yours Mr Ed regarding the number of changes and Group A/B. I should have thought of all these damn things before I started this comp. It seemed like a good idea at the time. :o

Sportz
12th April 2005, 01:11 PM
ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY THE FINAL RULE CHANGES I'M MAKING TO THIS COMP!!! I hope. :(

Okay, this is it! No more changes. This is what I'm going to do.

READ CAREFULLY
We will keep all of our original stables and follow the original rules as they are until after this Saturday's meetings are finished. That means that if any of our horses are running at any other meetings this week apart from the Metro meetings on Saturday, they won't be counted. I'm very sorry about that, but that's only fair to the people who distinctly followed the original rules and picked out horses for Sat metro meetings only.

Then, after Saturday's meetings are finished, everyone is entitled to choose a completely new stable with up to 12 new horses if you wish. You have up until Midnight Friday Apr 22 to post your new stable or Midnight on the day before your next horse races. If for example you wish to include a horse which is running this Sunday, then you have to post your new stable by Midnight this Saturday. If you wish to include a horse running next Wednesday, you have to post your new stable by Midnight next Tuesday etc etc. With these new stables, we will be following these rules:

RULES

Everyone to pick 12 horses in their stable, 6 'Group A' horses and 6 'Group B' horses.

During the period of the comp, you'll be having hypothetical bets on all of your stable horses whenever they start at an Australian meeting covered by Unitab. You'll bet $20 Win on all Group A horses and you'll have $10 Win on all Group B horses.

Each Friday, you'll be able to make up to 2 changes to your stable. If you have a stable runner racing on Friday, you must wait until after they've run. Otherwise you can make your changes any time on Friday up until the cutoff time of midnight. If you sack one of your stable runners and replace it with a new selection, that is counted as one change and if you swap a Group A horse and a Group B horse around, that is also counted as one change. You must have 6 Group A horses and 6 Group B horses in your stable each week. Make sure you outline your changes when you post your new stable each Friday.

It is up to you to post all your stable runners on here when they are down to race. Again, as I suggested, probably a good idea to use a blackbook service as we'll be counting races from non metro tracks and on all days of the week.

Well, there you go. I apologise sincerely to everyone for all the terrible stuffing around and rule changes. Sorry also to Paddy and Mr Ed and a couple of others who will miss out on runners over the next couple of days, but I thought it was only fair to stick to the original rules until everybody gets a chance to change their stables.

Hmmm, I definitely should have thought this through a lot more before I started this comp. :o

Too right Sportz, very promising. I remember when this horse was unraced i got the mail that he was very good, in fact Neprotain had just won five in a row for Moody, and they said this thing was kicking its brains in on the track. Backed off the map before first-up win at the Valley last time, then won well when long odds on with big weight in the country. He is down in the weights this weekend and looks a real chance in whichever race he accepts in. I here he is being set for the Stradbroke, if he can qualify.

Add on 2 more winners today @ 2.70 and 1.80, and we're on fire!, well done.

Oratorio won that race Garth was in @ the Valley, was Manikato day on the heavy a very rare occurance for Mooney Valley. You might be right though Paddy he has a perculiar action, very long strides so might not like the real bog.

Isn't Power Hunt running tommorow Spotz? He is alo entered for Saturday so maybe not. He is a immature but a very good horse, needs luck though so is always a point or two short of his real odds.

Yeah, Power Hunt's down for the Weetwood tomorrow. He's a BIG horse and from what I've seen, he seems to take a while to get going in his races. He usually has to come from the back of the field, but he can really fly home at the end, and there'll probably be speed on. Looks like a wide open race that anything could win.

For those that maybe haven't read the previous pages, I've made some rule changes to account for different situations which have come up with this comp and requests from different competitors. That includes most importantly counting horses which run at meetings away from the Saturday metropolitan tracks.

Please read this carefully:

We will keep all of our original stables as they are until after this Saturday's meetings are finished.

During the period of the comp, you'll be having hypothetical bets on all of your stable horses whenever they start at any Australian meeting covered by Unitab.

If you sack one of your stable runners and replace it with a completely new selection, that is counted as one change and if you swap a Group A horse and a Group B horse around, that is also counted as one change. You must have 6 Group A horses and 6 Group B horses in your stable each week. Make sure you outline your changes when you post your new stable each Friday. If you don't post a new stable by next Friday, then we'll simply count your original one.

It is up to you to post all your stable runners on here when they are down to race. Again, as I suggested before, it's probably a good idea to use a blackbook service as we'll be counting races from non metro tracks and on all days of the week. It's important that you post your selections on here, so we don't have to go through all the races to find them for you.

Sorry Chuck, read my previous post again.

You can choose a new stable now if you wish, but as far as bets go for this Saturday, you can only bet on horses from your original stable. After Saturday's meetings, you're entitled to choose another entirely different stable if you wish with up to 12 new horses, so why not wait till then.

By the way, yes, you did set it out correctly, IF we were actually doing it that way this week.

Mr Ed ($42.00) $344.00
Chuck ($0.00) $226.00
Raw Instinct ($0.00) $151.00

Kiwi ($0.00) $54.00
RomanKoz ($0.00) $39.00
Rudolph ($0.00) $26.00

Don't forget, to coincide with a change in the comp rules from Saturday metro only to any TAB meeting, you're all now entitled to choose an entirely different stable if you wish to do so. Again 6 Group A horses and 6 Group B horses and this stable must be posted by midnight Friday Apr 22 OR midnight on the day prior to your next horse running. For example, if you want to pick a horse that's going around tomorrow, you must post your new stable by midnight tonight. If you haven't posted a new stable by next Friday, then you'll just use the one you already have.

Chuck
16th April 2005, 05:26 PM
Whats the point of letting people choose an entirely new stable??? i can see absolutely no reasoning behind that at all. I mean, we picked a stable and now we should live with it. 2 changes a week is definitely enough as it is. If our horses have spelled or broken down (which one of mine has) then thats all part of the game isn't it??? I just don't think that a whole new stable is a good idea...maybe 2 changes max...its just not logical

Sportz
16th April 2005, 05:44 PM
Chuck,

The stable that we started off with was ONLY for Saturday metropolitan races. Seeing as we've changed that rule to betting on any Tab meeting at all, I think it's only fair to allow people to select a new group of horses, so that they can pick some horses for country and midweek meetings if they wish. Some people may be totally happy with the 12 horses they have, and they don't have to change them.

Chuck
17th April 2005, 07:02 AM
Why then are we doing midweek races at all? Most don't have much of an idea at all about those races, and won't even be around to put the tips/bets in.

Chuck
17th April 2005, 07:04 AM
NOT HAPPY JAN!!! It just seems that all those who won't be putting in bets for midweek are going to suffer in the end, but definitely are going to be at a disadvantage. How are we supposed to blackbook runners that we don't watch race?

Sportz
17th April 2005, 08:05 AM
I'm sorry Chuck, but this came up when we had a few horses that people had picked out for Saturdays turning up during the week.

I know that I originally set this up for Saturdays only, but really, if you pick a horse to follow, why should it matter where and when it runs next. A win's a win. Why should you be penalised because the trainer decides to run your horse in a midweek race instead of a Saturday. And you do get some pretty good horses running on Sundays and Wednesdays especially.

As for people being advantaged, you still have to find the winners. Just because people will be able to bet any day of the week, it doesn't necessarily mean they'll get any more winners. And chances are, the prices will probably be shorter away from the Saturday metro meetings. If you only want to pick horses for Saturday meetings, that's perfectly okay, but at least now you won't be penalised if they then turn up at a midweek meeting instead. And while it would be good if people notify us whenever their horses are running, I will still check all the fields each day just to make sure that we don't miss any.

Chuck
17th April 2005, 09:24 AM
As for people being advantaged, you still have to find the winners. Just because people will be able to bet any day of the week, it doesn't necessarily mean they'll get any more winners

If we were doing it on profit then it wouldn't be a disadvantage, but we are doing it on winnings so it is an advantage if you bet more.

Sportz
17th April 2005, 09:36 AM
But people will still only be able to have 12 horses Chuck. If you pick 12 Saturday metro horses, you should really get the same number of runs out them as if you pick 12 Country midweek horses. The only advantage would be if you pick horses that tend to run every single week therefore giving you more chance to win. But basically, you simply pick 12 horses that you think can win races in the near future, and now you won't miss out no matter where the trainer decides to run them.

Ok lets get this straight for myself and everyone else I guess.

Sportz anyone who is currently in the comp can basically dump all of the horses out of the stable which they have now and start all over if they wish to. also from now on we can bet any day of the week and have the ability to make 2 changes per week aswell. and this is all effective as of today the only other thing I want to clarify when does the week begin and end and what time do changes have to be made by if there is a deadline.

Raw Instinct
17th April 2005, 04:48 PM

Sportz
17th April 2005, 05:07 PM
As I said to Paddy, have a look at Post 153 on Page 16 of this thread. Then hopefully you should be right

Yes, anybody that's in the comp can pick an entirely new stable if they wish. This stable must be posted on here by Midnight Friday Apr 22 OR by Midnight the day before your next horse runs. For example, if you want to include a horse in your stable that's running tomorrow, then you have to post your stable by Midnight tonight.

You don't have to change your stable if you don't want to. You can leave it exactly how it is if you like. Just tell me you're keeping it the same and you can start using it the following day. Anybody that hasn't posted a new stable by Midnight Friday Apr 22, will simply continue using their original one from Saturday Apr 23.

Our betting weeks go from Saturday to Friday. Starting from Apr 29, you can change your stable every Friday. If you have a stable runner on Friday, you have to wait until after it's run to change your stable. Otherwise any time on Friday up till the cutoff time of Midnight.

Sportz
18th April 2005, 12:29 PM
Starcraft,

You don't HAVE to look for midweek horses. You can just stick to picking Saturday horses if you wish. All you have to do is pick 12 horses that you think can win races in the near future, but now you won't be penalised if the trainer decides to run them midweek instead of Saturday. That's all.

And as we're trying to pick future winners, I think we should stick to win betting only. By the way, Win betting improved your position dramatically in week one compared to each way betting.

Okay, well it's obvious that the rule changes I introduced haven't gone over well at all. That's an understatement! I thought I was doing the right thing, but obviously not. I should have just kept the rules as they were in my original post.

So, could I please get everyone's opinion on something before I go COMPLETELY INSANE over this comp. :(

How many people would like to simply revert back to all of the original rules of this comp?
Saturday and Public Holiday metro meetings only.
Each way betting allowed.
Only two trading periods where you can change your horses.

I apologise for all this stuffing around. As I said, I really thought I was doing the right thing, but all I've done is confuse and upset people and send myself round the bend, so I think the best thing to do is simply go back to all of the original rules that were in place when we chose our stables in the first place. :o

Okay, well like it or not, here's what I've decided to do.

We won't make any changes to this competition at all. We'll stick to the original rules.

RULES

12 horses in your stable, 6 'Group A' horses and 6 'Group B' horses.

Hypothetical bets on all of your stable horses whenever they start at one of our nominated meetings. You'll bet either $20 Win or $10 EW on all Group A horses and you'll have either $10 Win or $5 EW on all Group B horses.

Two trading periods available where you can replace up to 3 of your stable horses with new selections for the rest of the comp. During these trading periods, you are also allowed to swap your A & B horses around if you wish, as long as you continue to have 6 of each.

Here are the meetings left to bet on:

Sat Apr 23 (Doom, Rand, Caul, Chel, Belm)
Mon Apr 25 (E.Frm, Rand, Flem, V.Pk, Belm)

First trading period
Tuesday Apr 26 to Midnight Friday Apr 29

Sat Apr 30 (Doom, Rose, Sand, Morp, Belm)
Mon May 2 (Doom)
Sat May 7 (E.Frm, Rose, Flem, Morp, Belm)
Sat May 14 (G.Cst, Rand, Sand, Morp, Belm)
Mon May 16 (Ipsw, Cant, Flem, Morp, Belm)

Second trading period
Tuesday May 17 to Midnight Friday May 20

Sat May 21 (Doom, Rose, M.Val, Chel, Belm)
Sat May 28 (Doom, Rose, Flem, Chel, Belm)
Sat June 4 (E.Frm, Rose, Sand, Chel, Belm)
Sat June 11 (E.Frm, Rand, Flem, Morp, Belm)
Mon June 13 (E.Frm, W.Frm, M.Val, Morp, Belm)

That's it. The rules exactly as we started the comp.

However, I've decided that I WILL start up another thread with a different version of this comp, just for people like kiwi, myself and any others who are interested in picking out horses to follow for any meetings on any day of the week and being able to change them more regularly.

At least you had a win.

And it only won by a nose. So just think if it had lost by a nose, you would have been quite happy with each-way.

Sportz
25th April 2005, 07:32 PM
Well, Mr Ed may not be around on the forum at the moment, but I'm still counting his stable runners, just as I am with Paddy. I expect you'll probably say that's not fair, but this comp is all about picking future winners and if Mr Ed can somehow manage to win despite not making any changes at all to his stable over the whole competition, then he really deserves it. Surely you or I or someone else should be able to beat him.
