Hi there all,

I am a student at UWE in Brisol and am in my last year of studying towards a sociology degree. As part of my course I have to complete a project in which I have investigated and collected data about a topic of my own choice. I have chosen to explore the nature of Internet gambling, in particular, I would like to investigate the ways in which males and females gamble via the Internet. Not only does this interest me but there has been some sociological research carried out suggesting that bookmakers are 'a thing of the past'. Using this, I would also like to try and find out whether this is correct and whether or not using the internet for gambling is a gendered activity.

I am hoping to post a short questionnaire in the very near future and I was hoping that it would be possible for anyone who has a spare five minutes to answer it. For the moment though, I would really appreciate any thoughts or feelings you may have on my project.

Thanks

IM up old son . Brisol thats near the coswalds aint it (sorry just an attempt at humour Im the king of typos )......Id be glad to answer any Qs u have about Internet gambling ...Best thing since sliced bread .......
Our situation here however up until recently is/was quite different to UK no betting shops here still we have OFF COURSE tote run by the government(TAB)
Legally we only had bookmakers at the racecourses any sports betting was done through the TAB or illegal bookmaking (we have had for probably ten years a betting operation that parked itself in the NORTHERN TERRITORY so as to circumvent the laws and operate legally on sports.....The last few years however has seen an explosion in sports betting here .....should have happened years ago ........in answer to your question are bookies dying I dont thinks so I think theres enough punters cash to go round even with betfairs hat in the ring.

ok then, I'll post up my questionnaire in a little while. I have posted on the same thread on the Betfair forum too but have not had many responses so I hope I have better luck here.

Thanks

Try gooners they might be a bit more responsive there (or maybe not ) but I have found that unlike here and gooners at betfair they spend most of the time slaggin eachother seeing who can come up with the best smartass answer.......... (evil thinks as evil does ) they probably think your just taking the P*SS
