Hopefully won't be missing any more nice cashes as I went to re-open my phone bet acct, but won't be in action until tomorrow. When is ALINGHI gonna surface in a race? I wanna see this girl go!!!!!

Matter of fact, what did Mr. Ed mean when he said Bluecollar Jack "found sweet fa"?

:D F.A actually stands for f*** all. So what Mr Ed meant was that the horse had every chance to win that race, but found absolutely nothing under pressure!!!

I don't usually bet jumps races but this one could win with 3 legs :). Really cant see anything beating it unless it falls.

What happened to Snick, Mav? Looks like he's been declared a non-runner.

26th August 2005, 05:22 PM
lol..the racing gods felt sorry for me..i had bets on Don Sequalo and Undenied ..but the big go on Snick,,,so in the end it was good result ..
been copping a hamering the last 2 days ..Knew when Walarah boy was beaten by a nose and then Polyester Boy just missed that it was going to be one of those days..
Bono and Undenied the shining light and had a play bet on Celtic Bloom....but alas ..a loss for the day and that means a loss for the week,,dissapointing after jagging a few monsters ...imagine not getting that Petrol head tri..i'd be standing next in line to Mr Peters .. actually worse as i dont have a group winner to sell...
Thank God theres dependable old Brissie tomorrow :) i've had enough of losing for awhile..

Didnt think Matras was all that convincing .a good run but not racing to put her in the doubles just yet.......have a friend who has already taken big doubles with it. after the barrier trial,,

Well done today Sportz...winners are winners no matter what the price...

Hmmm yeah, she wasn't as impressive as I was hoping. Hope your mate hasn't bet too much.

Personally, I've just had a few little $5 bets on the cups so far, just for a bit of fun. I won't get serious about the cups for a while yet. I've got Matras ($51) & Tick By ($41) for the Caulfield Cup and Vinnie Roe ($21) and Accumulate ($26) for the Melbourne Cup.

3 from 3 with my specials today, so not too bad. However, the races where I seem to do the best lately are the ones where I have 2 horses rated on top and back them both equally. 3 of those races today for 3 good winners and a nice profit.

Also had a few small bets today on Allan Robinson and the Crossland/Chillemi combination. So it was a good day.

I've got 40 doubles on ...i'll put another 60 on as it gets nearer..$5 each .both the Cox MC and Caul / MC .. minumin $3000 collect so far
more for fun than anything ..
Got the Fields of Omagh / Makybe double a couple of years ago....and that was before Fields won that lead up race,,..mainly thanks to a forum member who was super confident..told him i'd name my first born after him if Makybe or Delzao won the MC ....but with a name like Durbridge he'd get bashed so i couldnt....
missed last year..Savabeel ?? and didnt think the girl could do it again..
The duck will win it this year ;)

Saratoga Samchaz,

Looks like Alinghi is running at Saratoga this weekend. First up over 1700m for some reason. Can't work that out.

Hey Guys,
Have been taking a back seat with the punting this last couple of days after some poor betting days this week...

But thought I would back a couple at Belmont today...here are some selections (take at own risk lol!)

R1 Top two with Metallic Storm killing them last start over 1000m but Yaya Lad runs well fresh (is forward after a good trial) and last start 2nd and PJ on board...see what the Storm can do...

R3 No7 Her Business...rattled in 1200m Belmont from the back to finish a close second to Snacking on a heavy track...extra 100m will help...will be short though...

R4 No4 Classic Chevron (a dual acceptor) goes well fresh and has won a trial but perhaps better to watch as Durrant might want her to get a run under her belt and then definitely worth backing next up...

R7 No3 Diamond Rhythm...like Diamonds run for 4th behind Urban Chill and shes back to her favourite distance and a good track...should be thereabouts...Mexican Mist the likely danger and favourite

R8 Between (3) Power Patrol and (9) Our Solid Bond for me both getting back to a suitable distance and finishing off strongly last start...Attractions and Urban Chill (this might be a little short but won last start 1650m strongly) will be favourites and dangers...

Good luck guys hope we can win some $$$$

Really Sportz? Imust have missed her while perusing the fields. Must be on Sunday as I looked very quickly. SHe probably will be ready if Frankel has her ready. The distance should be no problem as she has been running around the backside of Saratoga loose and getting quite fit on her own. LOL! Frankel denies this occured but it's out there.

saratoga samchaz
27th August 2005, 02:49 PM
She's in Sportz! Your RIGHT. On Monday she is going from the 10 hole in the 1 1/16 mile Ballston Spa Breeder's Cup for $200,000. A full field of F+M's are in this MellonTurf Course fixture. The inner turf at Saratoga is perenially known as a closers or stalkers paradise even though the turns are very tight. It is shaped like a long, skinny oval but usually plays to come from behind types but lately it has been very speed favoring much to my chagrin as that is my main focus of the Saratoga meet but now I focus on inside speed on the inner. THe Mellon (outer) Turf COurse is usually a closers haven and is still mostly playing that way although it is possible to win on the lead. The outside post positions on either turf course can be quite hard to overcome unless you are a dead closer. How does Alinghi usually run? It could be tough from the 10 hole but she isn't in against the top notch females over here at all. I might have to back her for me mates in OZ!!!! Who's her sire (Encosta?)??? She has been training like wildfire since coming to the Bucolic setting of Saratoga. THe one problem she might have is the detention barn. New this year, all stakes horses have to spend the 6 hours pre-race in a very small confining faux-barn that has really been washing some horses out. Any good ones on tap tonight at Rosehil or Caulfield?

Sportz
27th August 2005, 04:07 PM
She's definitely a 'come from behind' type. She has an explosive finish, and although she doesn't have to race that way, that's been her pattern in a lot of previous starts.

Sorry guys. I just realised that I didn't post any tips for today. For some reason, I just forgot. Don't know what happened there. And I've had a VERY good day with my tips too, but that doesn't help you guys. Sorry. :o

saratoga samchaz
27th August 2005, 05:56 PM
I like to hear that about Alinghi. I hope the turf course can get a little rain before Monday so it will have a little give to tire the front runners. I don't have the form on the race and it won't be available until Sunday so I'll let you know how it looks to set up. Frankel always has Brazilian horses running first time here. They don't always fire first here so maybe people will stay off Alinghi. Great sign that leading rider Edgar Prado takes the mount but he will draw support. I think a lot depends on how Frankel does Sat and Sun at Saratoga. he has a Brazilian 4yo Colt named Misto Quento by Royal Academy who has 6 starts in the US with 3 seconds and 1 third, He's due to crack the top spot here. I fhe flounders maybe people will think the same of "that foreign horse" Alinghi. How did Maykbe Diva pay so much????? Regal Roller burns everybody's money again. Who trained Alinghi in Australia Sportz?

Sportz
27th August 2005, 06:14 PM
Lee Freedman. Here was her record in Australia: 16 starts, 10 wins, 3 2nds, 2 3rds. Prizemoney: $3,421,325

Prior to today, Makybe Diva had had 6 previous runs first up from a spell and never run a place. She'd also had 5 previous runs at this distance and never run a place. That's obviously what the punters and tipsters were going on. Personally, I thought if Regal Roller was off his game, then she would probably have too much class for the rest of them on a wet track which she loves.

saratoga samchaz
27th August 2005, 06:27 PM
I kind of got the indication that Maykbe usually needs a race or two but didn't realize the distance ? but still for a champion to pay like that is a gift. Alinghi is dead game. What a record! Thanks for the info. Do you know why this whole ALinghi in America thing came about? Did they sell her?

I'm kicking myself for not gettng down on on Honest Politition last night. I even drove the 30 miles to the Philadelphia Turf Club because they always stay oopen later. I opened up a phone bet acct but they had already closed when I looked at the race. I get to the OTB and the doors are open, I walk up stairs, 10 minutes to post on the TV, Honest is 7-1, but there are now windows open. I watch the race, Hunter Hermitage looks to have an easy lead, uncontested with the 12 stalking, I'm sort of happy that I didn't get down, when the televisions all shut off.! At least these idiots at the Turf Clubs should have let me watch the end of the race. Get home and check the results, Voila-Honest Polititon $19 and change to win. I can't remember a string of shut outs like this, and pretty much all my own doings. Oh well. at least it's Travers Day at Saratoga!!!!!!!

No, I didn't see them. I'll have to have a look.

Anyway, sorry about that. I had a real good day today with my tips, but not much good claiming that now when I forgot to post them.

As for the smilies, you simply use a : followed immediately by other characters. For example:

: followed by ) gives you :)

: followed by ( gives you :(

: followed by D gives you :D

: followed by o gives you :o

They'll do for starters.

ALINGHI has been installed as the 3-1 morning line favorite in the grade 3 Ballston Spa BC on Monday(US). Her main competition comes from Que Puntualt trained by Angel Penna,Jr. who has quitely been enjoying a solid turf meet at the Spa. Que Puntualt breaks outside of Alinghi from post 11 (or 12?). Interesting race.

well done Rabbitz ..great when you can cheer a horse over the line that you have a personal interest in..

thoughts for tomorrow
Gunnedah
*Fuji Kid at odds..like his last run..never got into it and looked full of running drops some weight and is racing aginst mostly the same lot....thought Danzavite at odds aswell in the same race looked promising..and the extra distance looks to suit....the toppy Lady Hula to be kept safe but looking at some value here...
*Classy planet..just needs to start well to be in right in this..good last couple of runs..i think has bulletproof billy's measure and he might be fav here with desktop magic the danger..

will concentrate on these 2 races.,, and really target them with tris ect aswell..

Port Maquarie
*Dusty Daniel..got the bad barrier here,,but will be nice e/w odds..has been therabouts of late will forgive him his last run..,,no weight and in an open race could surprise..i dont let outside barriers worry me to much in these type of races..he can just bowl along out wide and try and slot in....if not ,,atleast your not caught up with alot of inexperienced horses..
*Mr Monde..missed his last win at lismore...thought he looked smart in his barrier trial and have been watching him..goes up in distance but after looking at his last win and his previous runs it looks like the longer the better..
*Lord Nedyim..in good form..super run last start..and the run before..got the inside with the good jock. not to worried about the drop in distance either..,,hard to hold out...not sure on the value though..

Just the 5 races for me tomorrow...real confident on getting some good value here...
good luck all :)

Last at Horsham is tough. Don't know that I'll be betting, but perhaps you could think about Miss Minouche. Ran 2nd last start to Colonial Lass which won very impressively in Sydney on Saturday. Plenty of chances though. VERY tough!

Quiet day tomorrow..just have a couple.
Sale
*Flying Ed ...funny race this one...Ed runs well first up ..and ran some very handy races last prep although this is alittle shorter than his best most of these are in the same boat...Tal jak can run well fresh aswell but likes it longer..the old fella down the bottom Prospecters Dream was only a couple off party Pie last start and atleast has fitness.. ..Ed has little weight and first up last time was just behind the handy Mr Magoo....a few of the others can run a handy race here and there..but Ed likes this time of year and might be some value..might be some value in the excotics here aswell

*Sabre..watched this horse chase home Very Canny up here ..was a good honest run..he's jumping 600m in distance here and i think this will suit..this boy is out of a decent Mare who won over distance ..actualy a listed race in town and has also produced Hotter Than Hell the more than handy jumper trained by Eric Musgrove..So you'd think being by Octagonal that the extra distance is in his favour..has a more than handy Jockey on board,,this kid has talent and has been killing them at the Gold Coast for ages..the toppy the only danger..(eladnicul a horse Sabre beat easily last time has come out and won a jumps trial and a maiden over 2000m since)

Like Clontaago at warrick Farm...last couple have been good.got into a bit of bother last run when fav,but looked to have plenty of running left in him..,seems the jump in distance suits...hes up in class here..but its not a tough race..Beadman takes the mount which means it will be way unders...if by some miracle its at e/w odds i might be tempted but if Beadmans won a few by then ,its the usual story....
He's such a brilliant rider and you'd think you would want him on your horse..but he just kills the price,,,especially midweek,,,Railings on Saturday payed way more than expected so you just never know..

Good Luck all :)

Will play with yours tommorrow Mav, love the analysis

Missed the treble today a Gunna, got greedy, went 10 units instead of 5 and missed first leg. Had 3 a standout in last and your 2 in middle leg.

Just a quick couple for tommorrow as Im working back late tonight so probably wont have time to post tommorrow. I dont really like much but....

Sale 5: 3 main ones for tri, quin ex etc are Arunee, Bahemian Rhapsody, Prospectors Dream in first 3 then Tal Jack and Kendalay
Sale 6: Put Our Alakbar in exotics at odds
Sale 7: Bakula
Sale 8: A tad cool

Wawick Farm

Race 2: Gonski from Port Peru
Race 3: Mythique E/W
Race 4: Starbeel

Sorry cant post reasons but best are probably Gonski/Port Peru and Bakula

Cheers!

Sportz
30th August 2005, 12:11 PM
Geez, some top horses for a Tuesday!!! But it means not much value in some races unfortunately. In race 2 at Warwick Farm, we see the reappearance of Gonski. He could be something very special and his trainer says today is just like a barrier trial, so that shows you his opinion. He has been off the scene for a fair while now though and he's likely to be at a ridiculously short price ($1.10-$1.20). He'll probably win, but if he is to be beaten, Port Peru should be the one. I tipped her last time and she was very impressive. Perhaps she might be worth a gamble or maybe play around with multiples.

Sale Race 1: 12 VIVA LA COVERT
Viva La Covert was a top run behind the promising Specialstarz last start and looks a great each way chance here. Costalots and Jack's Palace could be the dangers.

Sale Race 5: 3 ARUNEE & 4 KENDALAY
I've been waiting for Arunee. It was a good run first up and he's unbeaten 2nd up. Just short of his ideal distance here but he's a top chance. Kendalay has a brilliant record at this track.

WFm R4 - 1 SPIKES & 4 PATCHED UP.
Spikes is highly promising. Still yet to win, but 3 top runs so far against much stronger opposition than this. Hopefully set for a good spring. Patched Up's form is excellent for this though. A good effort for 2nd behind God's Own in strong Saturday class last start and a top chance here.

Here are the races I'll be looking at. Hoping for some value.

Sale R1 - 12 VIVA LA COVERT, 4 Costalots, 8 Jack's Palace (12,4,8,11 - 2,3)
Sale R2 - 7 HIGH COSTALANA, 2 Bally Legend, 1 Appellant (7,2,1,3 - 9,8)
Sale R5 - 3 ARUNEE & 4 KENDALAY (3,4,1 - 8,2)
Sale R8 - 4 ITSAMONTY & 6 A TAD COOL (4,6,3,2 - 10,9)

WFm R3 - 1 SUN SONG & 9 DEL MAR (1,9,3 - 4,2)
WFm R4 - 1 SPIKES & 4 PATCHED UP (1,4,3 - 2,8)
WFm R5 - 5 ROSE OF KINGS, 4 Glossy Games, 3 Genuinely (5,4,3 - 1,8)
WFm R6 - 1 PUBLICITY STUNT, 10 CLONTAAGO (1,10,3,4 - 2,5)
WFm R7 - 10 POLICY, 1 Flaming, 4 Croatian Prince (10,1,4,5 - 7,8,6)

anyone here ever thought of laying a few horses on Betfair? I recently have, and have been working on situations where favorites win/lose etc and think theres so good cash to be made. The key is probably a large balance to cover largish wagers, although if you could stay in the game for a week of so without going broke, you should at least be guarenteed a long term profit of up to 20-30%

didnt rate it with the other three, missed by a nose, suppose you just roll with the punches. You have to follow your ratings and strong tips or else your all over the shop and lose in the long run, I rarely ever put in $2-$3 fav's in trebles (especially on tuesday with small pools - large TAB commissions), if I do I have rated them highly and as a standout with a ruffie and increase the bet.

Would have been nice though to get the 5 up in first leg - had field in 2nd and confident with a tad cool in last - if it gets up with bella and pay's well I will be a little disappointed but it is tueday and these things seem to happen more early in week, looking forward to tommorrow in Adelaide, very confident with a lot of these. Probably wont look anywhere else unless someone out there has a special! (leave me out of sydney though!)

Didnt post this originally, but given track bias in warwick farm brings a couple right into it:

Race 7: Leave out the 1 now, think it brings the 2 and 4 right into it with 3 right behind. They all like to race on pace, and a dollar short is best pick at value from the 2 with 3 right behind. The 7 horse also likes to race handy

Race 8: Alot of pace! Who knows who will lead? I like the 6,7,8 from the 1 - they all should challenge for lead. 8 on top from 7 then 6 and 1.

I will take the double here a few times, value I think:

2,3,4 - 6,7,8 - may put the one in final leg depending on price/ pool size etc

Will probably put in a straight out double as well : 4-8

But who knows in Warwick farm today! I hate track bias, because even the backmarkers try to push up due to instructions from owners etc.

Yeah, I originally picked 1 & 10 in the next race, but I'm not confident now!

Yeah, but only a little one Sportz.

My trebles are usually only smallish outlays, so a loss generally doesnt hurt too much, so will cover it with i think with the 2 e/w. Why is everyone tipping the 4? I must have missed something. I rated it about 6th best with a tad cool clearly on top from 2,3,5,8

I remember the first treble I got up was my biggest. Straight out at Victoria Park mid week meeting. Had what I thought were the 3 fav's - Herecles down the straight which paid $3, then one of Haye's horses in middle leg ($2.50). Finally It came to the 3rd leg I had old Frenzel Rhomb, who was paying $28 in a crappy staying event!!!!. Looking no chance on the turn he stormed home, treble paid $550 and I had it 10 times. Loved playing with them since, but generally only take one or two a month as they are probably the least profitable betting type offered by the tab unless you have some good mail.

approximate is $772 so hope it gets up.

Race 7: Leave out the 1 now, think it brings the 2 and 4 right into it with 3 right behind. They all like to race on pace, and a dollar short is best pick at value from the 2 with 3 right behind. The 7 horse also likes to race handy

But who knows in Warwick farm today! I hate track bias, because even the backmarkers try to push up due to instructions from owners etc.

I put the 7 in as a chance but didnt put it in tri!
So much for the 1 being unders!

Years ago, I used to take doubles and trebles all the time, but I just sort of went off them. Now I hardly ever take them. Often, when I look at the results at the end of the day, I realise that I could have cleaned up if I had taken them.

I'm afraid that was a bit of a speculative tip on Policy there looking for value. But Flaming was obviously the one when it shortened in the betting like that. Got the first 4 in my first 5 tips. Did the same in Race 7 at Sale, but unfortunately didn't take one with number 10 on top. Wasn't that difficult to do though.

One ill be having a LARGE go at is Covet in gold. Its a mates horse and there is a lot of confidence about, stokes has had it in the bullring and its fired up ready to run. In a big field I would expect juicy odds, it should take a sit just behind the pace and rally late. Will need to be ridden well as it doesnt like running through traffic, but am confident here..

A few i like tomorrow..
Brissie
*Alana's Song (Lana Belle e/w), *Noble Gaze, *Prang (no's 6,12 safe)
*Tuscan Jazz (daimyo)
Balaklava
*Queen Catherine, *Gorilla Bisquit, *Toms Vision, *Enter the sandman,
*King's Arch and Pride Of Archway ..go Mick :) *Brakenbury Bill
Belmont
*Foxaround
Wyong
*Johan's Toy, *Sky Blitz, *Rostrum e/w
Sandown
*Steelworker, *Ranson Claim

I like the Balaklava Cup...with Micks runners you have Pride Of Archway who gets back but can run on strongly..,,and Kings Arch who should be prominent and give good sight..Civil has to be kept safe..and for the excotics OnaJeune, baraba Rd and radiant star all should be there somewhere...looks a real good trifecta 1st4 race if you go wide enough..
Brakenbury Bill with the blinkers and the good draw could surprise at odds..Toms Vision form around the Lady looks to strong..(poor old Lair) Gorilla Bisquit in this ordinary lot atleast has some good form good lst few runs..,,,queen Katherine has ability and has been backed strongly of late especially on course tells me its working well..
Brissie doesnt look easy early on...Alanas Song might be alittle short..Noble gaze with finally a good draw has a big show...Prang is in good form..last run when a mile back against the tempo was good,,the extra distance is a queery ..Special langfur might get the lead here and if the leaders are winning and with Stathi aboard could get the prize....Pager if ridden quietly could come over the top of them all..
fairly confident with my Wyong, Belmont and Sandown selections..
have to many selections ..limit 12 but scratchings and short prices usually cull a few..

Good Luck all.. :)

Might have a go at it Luv2bet,

Good too know a few of you here have interests in a few horses. Racing gets too boring if you dont have more of an interest than punting. We have had a little bit of success of late with my old mans horses, actually we just retired one last week, Rumah Batik. She won six (2 in town) and her maiden at $96 a couple of years ago (what a day! - think we were the only ones on her!, in fact she always won at odds), she ran second a couple of weeks ago to Pipkin in town in her swansong. Only a smallish horse, you had to get her on her right day or else she was a b****! (and she needed the bull-ring as well Luv2 to be anywhere near her best!!). Good luck to her though, think she will have a great foal (she's visiting distant music) as she's so well conformed and correct.

And I think tommorrow another of my old mans horses, On Focus, should have her first foal to testa rossa (hence my liking to the testa's!) - will keep you's informed on how the little one goes if your interested. She was an exiting horse, won 4 stakes races at two before getting injured. She still holds the track record for 2yo at Cheltenham running I think 56.85 for 1000m.

But enough reminising! (they were the good old days!) lets look to balaclava tommorrow instead. Real storm here at the moment though, hope it doesnt persist or effect the track. Winds up to 100km/h can throw up some rough results!

Adelaide:

Brackenberry Bill: I think is close to a special with the long straight an lots of speed

Keytocache: owes me a stack but has heaps of ability, stiff comp
from...

Diceman: (could be the one - recently won a trial by 4 lengths so abviously fit first up) Obviously tiara dane rates very highly.

Adios Dapper - blackbooker

Toms Vision a special from 2,3,5,8,9

CUP:
On a Jeune: really like this horse, dont know where he will possie up though, a real risk.
Barraba Road should have every chance with Gatt/gate 1 so will be on him, Stamen to improve and flash home, and Royal Jade with Didham on board.

Brisbane:

Picabelle

Sandown:

Delvechio and Princess of oz qn ex (lots of pace though so beware - could set it up for Our guided missile)

Maggies Mate/ Ransons Claim qn ex etc

Test zone

HI Mav,
Dont know if you managed to see Flying Ed and Sabre run yesterday...Flying Ed ran out of puff very early and Sabre pulled its way out of the race... Drawn 1 yet ran wide without cover .. jock couldnt get the horse to settle. Probably best to forget both runs..esp Sabre's. If the connections didnt want Sabre to win, they sure got their wish..in spades

Pride Of Archway is a cat LOL..I'm just sore because I can never catch it..1600m is about as short a distance as I would ever back it these days. Maybe today is its day..esp if at good odds..i'll never back it when short ever again.

Good Luck Maverick..sorry about yesterday..I had a whole week like that last week. Got absolutley caned! LOL

Few more thoughts for today.
Balaklava.
**Tigara. should be fitter now couple runs in and hasnt been far away. Drawn well and should be running on at the post.
**Barabba road. Followed this horse for a while and has been close enough last couple of runs, has been running on well. As above should be fitter and ready to go. Good tri first 4 race i would expect big divvies. Include on a juene, civil, roman arch, radiant star, ottobello.
**COVET IN GOLD........ go you good thing!! Big go on this..
**Amber flow in the last. Bit of value here. Liked its last run a lot, although coming 5th was charging home and only finished 2 lengths behind proscenium arch who will run favourite today. The extra 50 meters and the long straight puts amber flow right in this, may be overlooked by many and result in nice e/w odds.

Wyong
**The merry widow. Should be suited by this distance, will break through soon for a win, like the walter/boss combo.
**Onion, probably wont have a bet on this unless odds permit but this will be very hard to beat.

good luck to all....

Rocky
*Cindy Kate,,faces her biggest test here..but i think she can do it..i havent a jockey for her yet but hopefully a clamier to make it that much easier for her..
Charlie is going to be tough to beat and is the only one i'm worried about..
Cindy was wide on a unsuitable surface last start so it would pay to forget it..
*Tara's Song..racing in fine form,.,made a stack of ground against the bias last start and the start before...the extra distance looks to suit....i like Regimental but was dissapointing last start,,but will be thereabouts though..
Wyong
*Radetzky March...this horse has been real good to me...cant wait to see it tomorrow...Macs Tune has been racing in good form and likes the track is the only one i'm worried about...
wont take anything short ...
*Empyreal...great run last start behind stormhill...top jockey on board..can race handy. lead or come from the back and race on any surface..very versatile....,Dancing daggers is flying but always seems to leave it to late...

With ya on that Gaju Chief Sportz. The old first up, ain't ready, not today even though he likes it heavy thing got me as well, but only in theory as the Turf CLub shut me down again anyway. They are unreal. It's like you're inconveniencing them by betting in their shop. I didn't tell them to start taking Australia. If you offer it, you have to stay open. Once in a while I can understand, but they call last race early all the time (even on Fridays when we are getting your best racing!) I looked at that site with the duets but they don't want anything to do with Americans on there. I understand the legal gray area, but I'm sure I can find a place to take my Aussie action if the Turf Club doesn't want my hard earned money. I used to bet sports with Bowman International from Manchester, England (with a phone center in Maritius to avoid any legal wranglings) and they are extremely dependable but they don't take any horse racing except the big ones, and even that is fixed odds win wagering only. I'm sure I can find one though.

Tommifrancs came through for ya Sportz. Not much odds but a win..... Luckily my shutouts last night saved me money as my only winners would have been short(really loved Johnny Be Good at Sand-6/5 is so short though). If you know of any shops that will take American action let me know please. I'd rather play Australian for all the turf breeding and quality horses than some of our junk tracks that run at night here. I'll stay home and listen on the computer to the calls on the Aus. radio. I think that's bril anyway.

For an American or Canadian, I recommend setting up an account and betting Australian on-line through either Brisbet.com or youbet.com. I have used both, and they are equally decent. As long as you have broadband, you can watch the races live. I am using Bris right now. Us North Americans have our own pool, so it does not affect betting in Oz. The beauty of it is as you learn to handicap Australian, and get the great tips from the folks on this forum, you will often get much better odds than they do, because of the relative lack of Aussie racing knowledge by your betting pool competition. I have gotten 30-1 on horses at only 5 or 6-1 in Australia. I watch an Australian betting site's tote board live every night, and bet as they do, frequently at a marvelous price. Good luck to you.

Glenn

Thanks for the info Venge and Sportz. I didn't realize Bris and Youbet took Aus but I guess it makes sense. I guess the time to get the real values are on weekends as the pools are a lot larger then. I was starting to think that the way to get the real value is bet through a couple of Aus spots and shop around as opposed to having to wait until the very last minute with the American pools to see the true values. I did set up, rather remewed my phonebet acct w/ Philly park last week but they close before Aus even starts and if you are a Delaware resident they won't let you bet NYRA tracks(Saratoga, Belmont, Aqueduct). It's crazy the rules they have. I'll probably be setting something up with a couple of places (Aus and US) if possible. I checked out IASbet and it looked excellent. I read the rules and conditions and it seems to be they stay purposely vague about the US and that's cool with me. They kind of hint that they do take US dollars and residents by explaining wagers and rules concerning US sports, even though I realize the punting savvy Aussies are known to throw down on the States and such. I actually was in the "business" over here for alot of my 40 years, on the right side if you know what I mean and was always trying to get this Aussie figure skater (Nah, he's cool as can be, with a hot wife) to bet, n his words "MERICAN FOOOOTBAAW! AY LOVE IT!" with me. It really sucks that this country is so politically correct and hypocritical that you can't even try to make a decent side buck. It's not like you aren't risking losing and the credit card companies charge a lot higher vig than 10%. I mean they get more than loan sharks! I will check out all those other sites as well. Thanks guys

Kings Arch , Pride Of Archway and Civil are all horses i've been following this prep.....its hard for me when i have so many in the one race ..trifectas ect get hard like yesterday had every horse but Kehlstein...wanted to go over my stake but i'm disciplined nowadays as you have to be......

Like Cindy Kate today..wont know herself with that weight..St Spartica and Charlie are the dangers....would want 5's atleast..

Regimental and tara's song to fight it out....Regi might of needed that last run and should be improved ..tara really hit the line well last start...looking at backing both if the odds are good enough..

Mac's tune with radetzky looks alot better,,but theres mail around for him so he might end up being short...thought On Potential 8's in the paper excellent value..will work around these 2..

the cup looks a fight between Dancing Daggers and Irongail..but i'm hoping empyreal or Square one or even Wicked wizard can upset the apple cart ..
will back empyreal e/w and have a play with excotcs looking for value..

Dont mind Indicates at Mornington...
Good Luck all :)

Sportingbet was extremely helpful on line and take US customers. And "LOST" i slike 2.50 for Best drama Emmy. A stone lock! George Bush and Tony Blair are quite the value for the Nobel Peace Prize at 101-1! I wouldn't take 1001-1.

Mav,

You won't get 5s on Cindy Kate. She'll probably be around $3. Likewise On Potential won't be anywhere near 8s. It and Mac's Tune will probably be battling for favouritism around the $3.50 mark.

Ahh, that's better!!! Nice win and nice trifecta. :)

Shows the value of backing more than one horse in the race. I liked Tungsten Jim today, but he was VERY disappointing. Nice win by the backup selection.

Like Ron's Folly too Sportz (good trial at Belmont 22/8 when running second best time of the day- Foxaround was the fastest) has won at distance and a good record at Northam...will be short though...also have Power Glide and Stormy Gale on the trials BBook but not sure how to rate the trials properly...watch all though Belmont races by video and again have to work out how to use info...any advice...:)

2 $2.60 Irongail
3 $5.80 Carael Boy
1 $6.80 Dancing Daggers
4 $7.00 Empyreal
7 $9.90 Monsoon Sunrise

Cant discount the Taree Cup winner but IMHO it is unders

I love Irongail.. It sure does'nt owe me any money, but Carael Boy is a local from around here and have backed him for yonks and I know the Trainer and he is a gent imo... having said all that... I think he was the horse to get excited about... I thought Irongail might struggle at the distance, but was prepared to back it with the boy... but I reversed the bets... the others in the race were not much value at all... The $6 was a fair price for the ol fella... I was hoping he would slip in under the radar, but he didnt... a good tough win just the same... I ave been goin ok lately.... hope it continues

Hi Guys,,a few thoughts for tomorrow.
Ipswich
*Diexueme.. even with the weight has these covered,,just to good..
*Suubird..fought on well last start at a distance i think is too long..better suited here at the 1200m ..doesnt have to beat much..
Grafton
*Fanqualo,, always hard these scampers but this one has been in good form ..can run time..
*Shagny lover ,.good run up the inside last start..has been working well to the line previously..might sneak under the radar if they come for Concitare and the old Boy rodeo Chutout..

might be temtped with Admiral Jack in Ballarat..if the odds are right,,

probably just the four for me tomorrow..Good Luck :)

I was just looking at the results from yesterday, just had the one bet, running double race 7 into 8 at wyong which i didn;t get due to st tevoc and carael boy. I was just thinking though, i put the bet on in the morning based on prepost markets etc not the final prices, had i seen st tevoc at $22, you would have to throw him in wouldn;t you? His form read pretty well, nothing higher than 4th for his 4 runs back from a spell and would have been reaching peak fitness 5th run back. I took him on based on the fact that i thought he would be pretty much in the market and 'at the odds' was prepared to take the gambel that others had his measure.

Another thing. In the second leg carael boy won. That is like the 5th time i have been burnt by that horse. He is a pretty good galloper. I mean he sneaks up on you and a lot don;t rate him in most of the races he competes. I.e. he is a wet tracker, too old etc. But in these sort of sydney races he always seems to do pretty well. He is a very versatile galloper i now believe. He won yesterday at his first go at 2100, and about 3 weeks ago he won a 1600 race (if i remeber correctly). Yesterday he met some ok opposition most of which had seen the likes of 2100 metre journeys and beyond. Another thing i have noticed about this horse, which i would have thought to be uncharacteristic for an older horse is that he seems to maintain form quite well. He has been up for a while now and whilst he doesn;t win every won, he remains consistent and when the right race pops up he comes out and gives it a shake. I think he just one of those "throw him in" sort of horses - the ones where after the race you are like yeh, yeh i can understand why he won, but before you are like oh yeah he probably won;t be up to it.

Anyway, if anyone actually read through the lot of that i hope you got at least something from it
- Matt

I must admit I've been a bit like that. I did gave him a good chance of winning yesterday. However, I remember earlier in his career that he had such a great record on wet tracks, I have sort of tended to regard him as a wet tracker only. But his recent form on dry tracks has been great.

Sportz, it's wierd like that. Some horses seem to tend towards the wet tracks as then get older whilst some who were previously good on wet tracks seem to prefer dry tracks as they get older. It can be a bit misleading at times i.e. a horse has had 12 starts on the wet and won six placed in 2. You go oh yeh he is a swimmer for sure, however it might have been the 4 unplaced runs on the wet that were the most recent.

Gday All
You have to remember ... he is a group winner in his early days ( without researching i think it was the straddie, might be wrong tho) and early on he was NEVER out of the money regardless of company... Brad Pengelly made his name ridiing this bloke... he is now stable jockey for McLachlan on the Coast and Brissy.. he has had injury problems in the past (the horse that is) his win yesterday is typical of the ol fella... He is a tough bloke, who regardless of the price and ratings (rated 2nd) seemed to be the best option in that race.. another of my favs, Joe Pride's Irongail, was iffy at the distance but had been going better in better company of recent time IMO , than the ol fella, and as I said in an earlier post owes me no money... so i backed both of em, but was pretty sure that Carael Boy would beat Irongail home, not neccessarily win the race, so I backed Irongail as a cover (18$) and Carael Boy as my main bet (38$) so 56$ outlayed for a profit of 175$ so it was a good result... Keep an eye out for the horses from up this way,,, they do pop up at the most unexpected times..as is evidenced by St Tevoc :)

maverick1993
2nd September 2005, 10:44 AM
i think the track suited Careel Boy yesterday..the short straight plays into his style...he sort of races prominent and sticks on...but on a longer straight you could see Dancing Daggers run over all of them...
I risked Dancing daggers yesterday because of the tight track,,,betfair should of been my go in that race....

Actually it was the Villiers (group 2) in 2001. I remember it well because I had a good bet on Carael Boy in that one. I also remember that I took a 4 horse box trifecta and my picks finished 1-2-3-4 and I didn't take a first 4.

Anyway, he also won a couple of other group 3 races early on too in amongst a string of wins. Actually, I just looked back at his form and coming into the Stradbroke of 2002 he had 14 wins from his first 19 starts!!! He finished 11th in the Stradbroke and in just over 3 years since then, he'd only won 2 races from 35 starts! That was before yesterday.

TS,

On a long lost thread a while ago..... someone posted that "if in doubt" :

Take the top four listed runners (e.g. 1,2,3,4 or if 2 scratched, numbers become 1,3,4,5
Bracaket first two and last two (i.e. 1,2 and 4,5)
Place one unit on the longer of the two in each bracket and 2 units on the shorter selection

1 $2 = 2 units
2 $5 = 1 unit

and

3 $17 = 1 unit
4 $6 = 2 units

Suprised it brings up some nice divy's..... also I've used it on any2's/Duets.... (especially when having a few ales and really shouldn't be betting !! lol!)
